What’s In My July 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 3rd August 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag subscription ended in May but I was so fed up of receiving vivel, cetaphil and body washes that I didn’t want to renew. So, I skipped on the June Fab Bag. After reading some raves about the July Bag I decided to renew my subscription.

This is what the bag looks like :

Fab2

The theme this month was “Double Trouble”!

Fab3

Here is what I received this month :

1. Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Creme

Fab5

I’m only 22 and I don’t really believe in facials unless you’re 30. So, this is a waste product for me. I might give it to someone or use it as a body moisturizer. This would’ve been a great product for someone over 30.

2. BioBloom Hair Strengthening Oil + Cleanser Kit

Fab7

I would like to try the oil but the shampoo has a very pungent Ginger/Herb scent. I’m not sure if I want that kind of scent in my hair!

3. Deborah Milano II Rossetto Lipstick – 516 + Lipliner – 07

Fab4

I wonder when FabBag will stop sending me frosted lipsticks. I have received three frosted lipsticks now including this and I don’t wear frosted lipstick. What a shame! I’ll have to give it to someone too. The lip liner is lovely though. I wish they had sent only a full sized lip liner instead.

4. Free Sample – Vivel Cell Renew Deep Smoothing Body Lotion.

Fab6

Since this is a bonus product, I’m not going to complain too much but this is the second time we have received the same lotion and Vivel! Really? Vivel!

Anyway, here is what I got overall :

Fab1

This was an unfortunate bag for me. Had I been someone who is over 30 and enjoys facials or wears frosted lipstick, I would’ve been ecstatic but sadly, I am not. They really should pay attention to their consumer’s needs and preferences. Especially when they have all the information required because we fill a quiz.

What’s In My May 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Saturday, 7th June 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag arrived a long time ago! Around the 20th May. I was just busy and I didn’t get time to post my review. Anyway, better late than never!

The actual bag itself was not very pretty this time! The theme this month was “Summer Essentials”!

Image

Here is what I got in my bag this month :

1. Avene Cleanance Masque

Image

I am happy to receive this masque as I have oily skin, especially during the hot summer months! I have used it once and it does mattify slightly but not for a long time! The sample size is also generous and not one of those annoying 2 ml samples that do not even give you one full use!

2. Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Body Scrub

Image

This is the full size product and I like body scrubs. However, it isn’t as abrasive as I would’ve liked it to be so I use it with bath gloves and it makes the skin very soft and smooth! 🙂

3. LA Splash Splash Proof Eyeshadow Base

Image

This is the product I am most excited by. I do not have oily eyelids but I am curious to find out if this increases the longevity of my eyeshadows! It feels kind of tacky on application so it must help powders to adhere to the skin better.

4. Bonus : MaxFactor Lasting Colour Collections Lipstick – English Rose

Image

This mini lipstick was such a let down. It is completely frosted and looks milky and uneven on the lips. They may as well have not included this in my bag! This is the second time I have received a frosted lipstick in my bag and I don’t wear frosted lipsticks. What a waste!

Here is what I got overall :

Image

This month was very so-so for me. The eyeshadow base was a winner. I am content with the face masque and body scrub. The lipstick was blah! My problem with fab bag remains that I want to receive more makeup items in my bag. I have my very own skincare routine that I have customized and built up over the years so I don’t like to mess with that. I wish they listened and sent out more makeup instead of bath products!

What’s In My April 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Saturday, 19th April 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag arrived yesterday, which is pretty early for FabBag. Usually my bag comes around 23rd to 28th of each month. I was busy with the Premia India Runway Week yesterday so I couldn’t blog about it straight away! Anyway, here goes :

Image

The bags get cuter each month! The theme for this month was “Girl On The Go”!

Image

So, here is what I got in my bag :

1. Beauty UK Blush and Brush – Isla Rose

Image

I have previously received a colorful Beauty UK eye shadow palette which was less than useless. But, I am impressed with this blush. It is slightly chalky and a bit powdery but it blends well so I can move past that.

Image

It has a lot of shimmer and chunky glitter in the pan which thankfully, doesn’t translate too much on the skin. This is a beautiful pink shade which looks natural and pretty on the cheeks.

2. I Love…Lip Shine – Raspberry & Blackberry

Image

Personally, I am not a lip gloss fan, I prefer matte lipsticks. But, for someone who likes lip glosses, this is a good one. It is non sticky and gives a lovely shine.

Image

It is a beautiful magenta pink color but, on the lips it looks like a very soft pink and it smells lovely too. Plus, this tube is huge so it will last you a long time! I just wish I was into lip gloss but, sadly I am not.

3. Sally Hansen Pedicure in a Minute

Image

This was the product I was most excited about! I really like Sally Hansen. During summers, we need our feet to look pretty and perfect specially with open toe shoes. I am looking forward to my next pedicure with this! 😀

4. The Nature’s Co. Cononut Creme Body Wash

Image

I absolutely love the smell of this! It smells EXACTLY like sweet coconut oil but slightly more like a wash than an oil. This sample will probably last me about 4 uses which I am very happy about. This is a bonus product but, there was no card for this. My only concern is that FabBag sends out too many shower gels. Over the months, I must have got 4-5 shower gels and there was a shower gel in my last bag too! This one has to be my favorite though. The previous ones were citrus or lemon which is boring to me!

Here is what I got overall :

Image

After receiving Cetaphil and Vivel, I thought there was no hope for FabBag, but they seem to be recovering from that disastrous bag of February! There were 3 full size products in this months bag. However, I would still prefer to receive luxury products or even luxury product samples rather than full size chalky ones. The product I am most excited about is the Pedicure in a Minute. Had I been a lip gloss person, I may have loved the gloss. But overall, the value of the bag was well recovered by these products.

What’s In My March 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, 27th March 2014, Thursday

Hello everyone!

My bag arrived yesterday but I didn’t get time to blog about it because I was attending the Wills India Fashion Week.

The bag this time is very floral and it is celebrating women.

Image

The bag itself is very cute and useful!

This month’s theme was Women’s Special.

Image

Here is what I got in my bag :

1. Natio Rosemary Hands and Nails Cuticle Cream

Image

This hand cream has a mild smell and upon first application it felt lightweight and non greasy. I am happy to receive this product as I like to carry small hand creams in my bag.

2. Flormar Loose Powder – 03

Image

This is my favorite product in the bag this month. I am very impressed by the fact that they sent me the correct shade for my skin tone.

3. Portico Spa Verbana Hydrating Body Wash

Image

This was a random product. A travel size shower gel is handy to have but I feel like they have sent a shower gel one too many times! It has a refreshing citrusy scent though.

4. Bonus : Pearl Drop Earrings

Image

What do I say about pearl drop earrings in my makeup/beauty bag? I wish they had sent another beauty product instead.

Here is what I got overall :

Image

This month’s bag was definitely better than last month’s bag! I am very happy with the Flormar loose powder and the hand cream. I just wish they included more makeup products and less shower gels! That is all I have to say about this month’s bag!

What’s In My February 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal,Thursday, 27th February 2014

Hello everyone!

My subscription expired in January but I had won the #InMyFabBag contest in November. So, they gave me a choice between another November bag or to extend my subscription by a month. I chose to add an extra month. My Fab Bag arrived today.

Image

I absolutely love the bag. Its tartan and pretty and these bags are so useful when travelling! However, I am not impressed with the contents of the bag!

The theme this month was “Fab Bag Crew Favorites”

Image

Here is what I got in my bag :

1. Cetaphil Cleansing & Moisturizing Lotion Kit – 25 ml Sample Each

Image

These are samples of the Cetaphil Lotion and Cleanser. I have used the lotion before and it doesn’t work for my oily skin. They are generous sized samples so you will know if you want to purchase the full size. But, I don’t expect Cetaphil products in my bag. It is not a brand that I would want to try samples of. Plus, it is easily accessible everywhere!

2. Tommy G Dual Lipstick – Passion Red ( 7 ) : Full Size

Image

This is a liquid lipstick which turns absolutely matte on application. You can top it up with the gloss provided which is fairly good too. I am very happy with this product as I love matte red lips!

3. Thalgo Intense Regulating Serum – 2 ml Sample

Image

This is an absolute disappointment! I would have been excited about this product has this been at least a 10 ml sample since I have oily skin and this is a sebum regulating product.

2 ml? Seriously Fab Bag? That is like one use or two if you really stretch it out. How am I supposed to know I want the product in full size after only using it once? Give me atleast 5-10 uses! Plus, the tube is tiny and feels empty!

4. V Day Bonus Product – Cookie Man Fresh Baked Australian Cookies

Image

This is the product I was most excited about! There were 2 heart shaped cookies that were DELICIOUS!

5. Free Sample – Vivel Cell Renew Fortify + Repair Kit

Image

There are 3 products :

Fortify + Repair Facial Moisturizer – 10 ml

Fortify + Repair Body Lotion – 20 ml

Fortify + Repair Hand Cream – 10 ml

Image

Again, a blah product for Fab Bag. This is not something I would wanna try samples of too. I might keep the travel size tubes in my handbag for moisturizer emergencies but I am sure I am not going to be using the moisturizer on my face!

Image

Here is what I got overall. I am very disappointed with this month’s bag.

I expect makeup and more high end brands from this subscription service. I wonder if they pay any attention to the questionnaires we fill out in the beginning because I remember specifying that I did NOT want any skincare! The only products I am happy about are the liquid lipstick and the cookies! I don’t understand why they have increased the price if this is what they’re going to send out!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading!

What’s In My January 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 28th January 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag arrived a little late this month but it was worth the wait!

Image

The bags that they send out each month are so useful for carrying little things around! I have a collection of these now! 😛

The theme this month was The “Cold Comfort”

Here is what I got :

1. NYX Diamond Sparkling Lipstick in “Sparkling Red”

Image

I am so glad I received this color and not a copper or a brown! It looks lovely with a lot of shimmering glitter particles in it!

2. Naked Potion Lotion

Image

I have oily skin so this is too much for me. My mother on the other hand has drier skin so she was happy to try this product! She says it feels very moisturizing and makes the skin soft! It is a deluxe sample size.

3. Nyassa Almond Body Butter

Image

This smells like the soft almond candy we used to get! It is also a lovely handbag size tub.

4. I Love Mango Face Mask – 2

Image

These look so handy and easy to travel with. I am excited to try them! I am sure they smell yummy!

I am happy with this month’s Fab Bag. For the amount of money we pay for one bag, all these products are well worth the investment and you instantly recuperate the value of the bag!

One thing that I wish could be different was that they include a little more makeup and less skincare. Other than that, I am golden with this month’s bag! 🙂

Here is what I got overall :

What’s In My December 2013 Fab (Vellvette) Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 23rd December 2013

Hello everyone!

My Vellvette bag arrived early this month. Oh no wait, its Fab Bag now!

Anyway, I am glad they’re sending out bags early in time for Christmas and New Year.

Image

I always appreciate the bags they give every month. They’re so much better than boxes and these bags are really useful as makeup bags and also come in handy for travel.

The theme was Happy New You!

Image

Here is what I got :

1. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Image

I am happy with this product. My cuticles get really dry especially during winters. I use Olive Oil on them every night. Let’s see how this works.

2. Kama Ayurveda Lavender Patchouli Hair Conditioner

Image

I have so many Kama Ayurveda samples from hotels, magazines etc though this is a good size sample. Plus this smells really strong. I don’t want such a strong Lavender scent in my hair. They also have brands like Kerastase, Lush, Toni&Guy in their brand portfolio but I haven’t received any product from them. I would prefer to receive a sample from higher end brands so that I can try the products before spending big bucks on them! Isn’t this the whole concept of a beauty bag anyway?

3. LA Splash Nail Splash – Blowfish Red

Image

Who doesn’t have a red nail polish? Maybe I was just unlucky! I have seen some beautiful glitter shades in other bags. I am just disappointed in mine! Let’s hope that at least the formula is amazing!

4. Bonus : Anna Andre Nail Enamel Remover

Image

Eh! What do I say about this? Its just a nail polish remover which is always good to have and it was a bonus product so I am not really complaining!

I am not too happy with this month’s bag. There was no makeup product. I want makeup! Not nail polish remover. I think the only product I am happy about is the cuticle cream. Last month’s bag was really good and I had high hopes for this month since it is the last bag of the year.

Anyway, Here is what I got overall :

What’s In My November 2013 Vellvette Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 1st December 2013

Hello everyone!

My Vellvette bag usually arrives around the 26th. It came on the 30th this time!

Image

But this time, it was worth the wait! 😀

The bag is adorable! Its black and pink! These bags are so useful for travelling.

Image

The theme this month was Band Baaja Beauty due to the blooming wedding season!

Image

Here is what I got :

1. Votre Pore Shrink Toner

Image

I have oily skin so this product might be good. I am excited to try it. I must admit I get very lazy with toners but shrunken pores will be a lucrative result! :-P. Plus, it is a very generous size sample so I will be able to tell if I like it enough to purchase the full size.

 2. MUA Power Pout Color Intense Lip Tint And Balm – Irreplaceable

Image

Lip crayons are so popular right now! They’re really comfortable to wear and I am so happy with the color I got!

I didn’t get a card for this product.

Image

MUA is a UK based brand. So, it is really nice that we get to try these international brands through Vellvette.

I am sure it is cheaper in the UK but the MRP on this is Rs. 1050/- so you immediately recuperate the amount that you pay for the bag! 🙂

3. Clinique Even Better Foundation – 05 Neutral ( MF )

Image

I have heard so many good things about this foundation. I am so glad Vellvette sent me something from a relatively high end brand this time.

I am excited to try this foundation especially now that my skin is drier in winters. They didn’t just send one tiny sachet, there are 4! That is a very good sample size for a foundation considering each sachet will last me about 2 uses.

Image

Another wonderful thing is that Vellvette matched the foundation to my skin tone PERFECTLY. It is not a tinge darker or lighter! I am highly impressed!

4. Anna Andre Extreme Elegance Matte Foundation – 30000

Image

I had ordered this foundation off their website and received it separately. I am very glad I did because I loved it when I used it. It is a very natural looking foundation and has a beautiful semi matte finish! 😀

5. Mary Kay Pencils

Image

These are extremely tiny and single use samples.

Image

Top To Bottom :

Eyeliner in Black / Noir

Eyeliner in Steely / Metallise

Lip Liner in Soft Blush / Rose Doux

Even though they’re little single use samples, I can tell that they’re budge proof! I rubbed and rubbed my hand and these didn’t move. It makes me want to purchase the full size because it is very hard to find budge proof eye and lip liners.

I am so happy with this month’s Vellvette bag! They probably read my complaints in the previous post! 😛

Also, I am mega glad that I got more makeup products this month! Well done Vellvette!

October Favorites!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 4th November 2013

I hope you had a lovely and safe Diwali! 🙂

Where did October go? In fact where did 2013 go? Well, no point getting into that.

I know I have been MIA lately. October has a lot of birthdays and festival preparations! I have been incredibly busy and didn’t have any time to sit and type! Stay tuned for a lot of hauls because that is what I have been doing! 😛 and this is what the festival season is all about!

This is my first favorites post and I did have some items that I wanted to tell you about.

Image

1. Lakme CC Cream

I have extremely oily skin but since the weather is changing, my skin has been acting weird. It is oily on some days and dry on others. So, on those blah days, I turn to this wonderful product. It is neither too drying nor too emollient. It has a perfect natural finish and feels like nothing on the skin. Keep it mind that it doesn’t have a ton of coverage but yes, it is build able. I use my sunscreen and a primer underneath. If you’re dry skinned then you will definitely need some prepping before this. I am wishing other drugstore brands would come out with CC creams too because I haven’t had any success with BB creams!

2. Florelle Wet & Dry Blush – Marmorized

Image

I received this blush in my October Vellvette Bag

This is a beautifully pigmented blush! It is perfect for fall and will go with any dark lipstick. It gives a believable sheen to the cheeks without depositing chunky glitter!

3. Lotus UV Screen Matte Gel

This is my Holy Grail sunscreen and I never step out in the sun without wearing it. I do not use moisturizer when I use this as sunscreens are emollient enough. This product also acts like a primer. It makes the skin appear smoother and makeup adheres better when I wear this. It will not melt off of your face and it doesn’t flash back! It offers SPF 50 and PA+++ protection. What’s not to love?

4. Sleek iDivine Eye Shadow Palette – Storm

Image

I LOVE Sleek products! I really wish they’d come to India. However you can order their stuff online from their website.

This is my go to everyday palette! I take this palette with me even when I travel and I am set in the eye shadow department. The shades are gorgeous, amazingly pigmented, smooth to apply, easy to blend…. And I can go on and on.

Sleek Blush Palette In “Lace” Review

Sleek Pout Paints in “Port”, “Lava” and “Pin Up” Review

5. Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme – Sheer Cherry

Image

This is another product I received in my August Vellvette Bag

I am not much of a lip gloss person. I prefer lipsticks and lip crayon things.

But this is such a beautiful coral pink color that I want to wear it everyday! 😛 ANNDDDD it makes the lips look fuller. It is non sticky, has a brush applcator and I don’t feel like my hair will stick to my lips. So Yay! 😀

6. Faces Eye Liner in Metal Brown

This is a very creamy liner and glides on easily on the upper lash line. It doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area and stays on pretty well! You can also use it on the waterline.

7. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

It is pigmented and stays on the waterline. It doesn’t give me raccoon eyes and doesn’t irritate them either!

Image

8. Maybelline Color Tattoo

I know this is a hyped product and rightfully so! I have to admit I was using them wrong before and didn’t quite understand the hype around them but now I absolutely love them! You only need to apply the thinnest layer. They’re pigmented and extremely long wearing + waterproof. They’re available in a multitude of colors but since I am most comfortable with neutral eyes I have been using a bronze shade and a gold one a lot during this month!

Image

9. QVS Flat Top Kabuki Brush

I use this brush for everything! Buffing foundation, applying powder, applying blush, blending bronzer! I own two as of now. Flat top brushes are very versatile and can be used for a variety of things! When I am in a hurry this is a god send because I don’t have to find a blush brush and a powder brush and a bronzer brush!

10. Inglot 17TL brush

Angled brushes are also very versatile. They can be used to apply eye liner, fill in the eyebrows, apply concealer around the lips….

I use this one for my brows and it is perfect!

So that is it for my monthly favorites!

What’s In My October 2013 Vellvette Box/Bag!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 25th October 2013

Hello everyone!

The Vellvette Bag is BLUE this month!

Image

Here is a peek inside :

Image

This month’s theme for the Vellvette Bag was KISS. ( Keep It Simple, Sexy)

Image

Here is what I got :

Image

1. VANTIV Moisturizing Shampoo + Refreshing Lemon Shower Gel

Image

It feels like they put in an effort to personalize the bag this time. My hair is very dry and I am quite pleased to receive a moisturizing shampoo. My friend, who has normal hair, received an energizing version.

Image

This smells strongly of lemons, almost like the lemon hard candy we used to eat as children, which I personally find refreshing but it may not be everyone’s cup pf tea. However, I would’ve preferred to receive the Cool Water version like some of the other subscribers did!

Both these products are full size and cost Rs. 187/- and Rs. 214/- respectively.

2. Florelle Wet And Dry Blush – Marmorized

Image

Here is a closer look :

Image

Quick swatches :

Image

It gives a beautiful sheen to the cheeks. I have only used it dry and was happy with the results. It is a plumy pink shade that is wonderful for the Autumn/Winter time. I like that it doesn’t have chunky glitter and can be worn easily during the day.

It is a full size product and costs Rs. 750/-

3. Brocato Actives Restorative Hair Infusion Serum

Image

I am excited to try this product as I have damaged hair after chemical treatments and coloring them for years!

This is a deluxe sample size product and costs Rs. 375/- for 7 ml. Full size is 25 ml and retails for Rs. 1275/-

I am satisfied with this month’s bag. The blush is beautifully pigmented unlike the eye shadows we received last month! The bag is personalized to my needs which is a pleasant relief.

My subscription expires this month so I also received a renewal offer to get 10% off when I book a new one. I am happy with this month’s box but I wonder when Vellvette will start sending products from brands like Dior, Clinique, Lush, Kerastase, Caudalie, Clarins, Shiseido, Lancome etc because it shows all these products on the website.  I am going to renew my subscription in the hopes of being sent products from luxury brands so I can try them out before spending a ton of money on them. This is what beauty subscription boxes are supposed to do. When I look at international beauty boxes like Ipsy and Birchbox, they provide 5-6 items per bag for $10 that are great value, I feel like Vellvette is probably not doing enough. Maybe, it needs more competition and we need more such beauty or fashion subscription services in India!

I also have a coupon to give any one of you Rs. 100/- off of your first bag. Please email me at queriesforaishwarya@gmail.com if you are interested. I will send it to the first person who emails me.

What’s In My August 2013 Vellvette Box/Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 30th August 2013

Hello everyone!

I received my Vellvette Box Bag yesterday and here is what it looks like :

Image

I am glad they sent a pouch/bag instead of a big cardboard box. These bags are useful for storing things and come in handy for travel.

Here is a peek inside :

Image

This month’s theme for the Vellvette Box was “Ticket To Hollywood”

Image

I have been seeing “Bonus” products in many other blogger’s posts about this month’s Vellvette Box but I got only 3 products!

Image

However, the good part is that there are 2 full size products.

The first product is the Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme Gloss in “Sheer Cherry”. I have been meaning to try this product and I was excited about this in my bag. I am glad it is full size.

Image

Many other bloggers got a clear version but I was glad to receive a beautiful color.

And NO, it does not plump up my lips. It doesn’t even feel tingly enough to be a lip plumper.

The Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker feels a lot tinglier than this. Read full review HERE

I would just call it a regular gloss. It smells like Cinnamon which is a little off putting because I don’t like the smell of Cinnamon. I do like the brush applicator though. I prefer brush applicators over doe foot applicators.

Image

The next product is another full size product.

Figs & Rouge 100% Organic Aloe & Mint Balm. This is a repeat product. I saw it in the February issue.

Image

I do like appreciate a full size balm. I am a lip balm hoarder and addict!

I do not like the smell of this. I can faintly smell mint and perhaps some Aloe. But, when I put it on my lips, I did feel the cooling sensation of mint and I could sense a whiff of mintyness.

I like that it is 100% Organic.

The last product is a disappointment! 😦 H2O Sea Results Deep Sleep Recovery Cream.

Image

I have seen some other bloggers getting a much better sample of this product range. Maybe even a deluxe sized sample would’ve been alright.

I wish Vellvette paid more attention to the customer’s needs. I do not really need anti-aging right now! Plus any skincare takes atleast 3 weeks to start showing results. So, I don’t care about itty-bitty samples of skin care.

However, this claims “Overnight Treatment” so I guess this would last 2-3 uses. I will give it to my mother to try out!

Overall, here is what I got :

Image

I will not say I am unhappy but I am not ecstatic either. I do like the gloss and the balm but that tiny sample of night cream didn’t do anything for me!

I’m hoping Vellvette steps up its game next month!

You can subscribe to the Vellvette Box here :  http://www.vellvette.com/

It costs :

– Rs. 499/- for a one-time box

– Rs. 1,099/- for a 3 month subscription

– Rs. 3,599/- for an annual subscription.
