Sleek Makeup Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 28th January 2015

Hello everyone,

If you’ve been following me for a minute, you know that I’m obsessed with Sleek Makeup. Every single product I’ve tried from Sleek, I’ve fallen in love with (though I’m yet to try their base makeup). You can purchase these products from Sleek’s website or via Luxola.

So, without further delay, let’s get to the products :

1. Eyebrow Kit in “Dark”

Sleek4

Since the day I got this, I haven’t been able to set it down. I’ve been using it constantly as much brow fixer. And notice that little pair of tweezers, super adorable! I use the angled brush provided to carve out the shape of my eyebrows with the eyebrow wax. Then fill in and set the whole brow with the powder using an Inglot brush.

2. True Colour Matte Lipsticks in “Papaya Punch” and “Mystic”. Sheen Lipstick in “Liqueur”. Matte Me Liquid Lipstick in “Rioja Red”.

Sleek5

I am a matte lipstick lover! The liquid lipstick is a budge proof bang on red. I have always wanted to try purple lipstick and thought it would be perfect to try one now and I’m so glad I did because I’m completely hooked. The orange shade perks up my complexion instantly and eliminates any dullness from the face. It will suit most people with a fair skin tone. The nude shade however, unfortunately does not look great on me!

Read My Review Of Sleek Pout Paints

3. I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes in “Au Naturel” and “The Original”

Sleek2 Sleek8

I own 5-6 of these palettes because they’re high quality and more than worth the price you pay. I got the natural one for everyday use and the original palette because it had some fun blue-green shades.

4. Blush By 3 in “Pink Lemonade”

Sleek7

This one contains a gorgeous cream blush flanked by beautiful shimmery blushes. The pigmentation on these blushes is unreal and they also perform well for hours on the cheeks.

Read My Review Of Sleek Lace Palette

5. Single Blushes in “Rose Gold” and “Pomegranate”

Sleek3

I have 4 blush palettes and wanted to try some singlets from the range. The left one is a breathtaking rose gold (the camera did not do it justice) and the right one is a great versatile plum shade, perfect for fall/winters.

This is it for my Sleek Makeup Haul!

My Go To Makeup Looks!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 7th October 2014

Hello everyone!

I suddenly realized that I’ve never done a post on my everyday makeup!

I want to show you my basic everyday makeup and the look that I gravitate towards the most. This is the makeup that will look great on almost everyone and it is easy to achieve. It makes me look polished and put together and I can finish my makeup in just 20 minutes when I know this is what I’m going to be doing! I have been sticking to this look since about a year now and I haven’t felt the need to change it because it looks amazing and so many people have complimented me on it 🙂

This is also the look that you’ll find me wearing in most of my outfit posts because it looks great with everything. I do change my lipstick and blushes every so often when I want a different shade. Sometimes, I’ll use a colored eyeliner as well but for the most part, this is how I prefer my makeup to look like on an everyday basis :

M1

Winged eyeliner and nude lips is such a great look for everyone. Winging your eyeliner perfectly will take some practice but don’t worry it will come!

Here are all the steps involved to achieve this look and some of my favorite products that I use every time I put makeup on :

1. I like to start by priming my face with either The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer or The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It. Sometimes I use both of them together, I don’t necessarily have large pores but I have oily skin and I like to prolong the wear of my makeup as much as I can! During the winter time when my skin is not as oily, I like to apply MAC Strobe Cream on my cheeks for added glow. I usually like to wait a minute before I put foundation on to let the primer set.

2. After priming, I buff a thin layer of foundation all over my face with a buffing brush or fingers. I always make sure to apply a really thin layer because I don’t like to look cakey! Some of my favorites are the Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse for really oily days, Benefit Hello Flawless Brightening Makeup, Loreal Infallible 16Hr Foundation, Lakme CC Cream! I like foundations that are meant for normal skin and don’t have a very matte finish because I like to look glowy and healthy.

3. Most of the foundations that I like have sheer to medium coverage and I prefer that because I don’t want heavy coverage all over my face. I use the Clinique Even Better Concealer in the shade Orange Brightener under my eyes. It is an orange concealer that helps to cancel out any purple/blue undertones under the eyes. Over that I’ll use the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I also use to spot conceal if I have a breakout. To highlight my cheek bones, upper lip area, under the eyebrows and forehead I apply a thin layer of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.

M8

4. If I want my blush to last extra long, I’ll apply a cream blush on my cheeks but on most days I just go ahead and set the whole face with my all time favorite powder, Chambor Silver Shadow Compact or Benefit Hello Flawless Powder. If I want a sheer-er compact I’ll use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder or Maybelline Clear Glow Compact.

5. Then, I fill in my eyebrows with Inglot Matte Shadow in the shade 329 and set them with The Body Shop Eyebrow Gel or clear mascara. If I need to get my eyebrows done and they’re very unruly then I’ll use an eyebrow wax from Inglot before filling with powder.

6. Moving onto eyes, I draw a fine line on my top lashline with a black kohl liner, mainly Maybelline Colossal Kajal or Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. Sometimes I’ll use a brown like Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in the shade Cocoa Bar or Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil in Metal Brown. (Other times I may use a green, purple, grey or blue depending on my mood but on most days its either black or brown.) I like to smudge the line with a pencil brush. Then, I line both my top and bottom waterline with the same shade and smudge it a little on the lower lash line with a pencil brush. Then I start with a liquid/gel eyeliner like Maybelline Eye Liner Pen or the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black and trace along the top lash line creating a wing at the end. I then curl my lashes with the Colorbar Eyelash Curler and use my Holy Grail mascara, Maybelline the Falsies on both my top and bottom lashes. I like to apply a second coat of mascara with Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express and this combination gives me long voluminous lashes every time!

M5

7. I like to define my cheekbones for which I contour my face slightly with Sephora Powder Foundation in the shade Deep and lightly dust some on the sides of my forehead and under my jawline as well. I use a different shade of blush almost everyday but my favorite is Sleek Lace Palette. After blush, I’ll use a highlight from the Sleek Face Form Kit on my cheekbones, under the eyebrows, on my cupid’s bow and in the center on my forehead.

8. Like blush, my lip color changes everyday. But, one combination I keep coming back to is Nyx Lip Liner in Natural and Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade Red Chaos on top! This is the most beautiful peachy nude combination for my complexion and I prefer matte lips over glossy lips!

P.S. I like to use a makeup setting spray just before I head out to help my makeup last extra long!

I don’t use eye shadows on an everyday basis but on some days I like to get fancy! 😛

M2

And sometimes I’ll wear a matte red lip which to me, is the most beautiful look in the world! But who wears red lips everyday?

M6

When I feel like going all out, I’ll combine smokey eyes with red lips!

M4

Sometimes I’ll play with eyeliner and do something like this :

M3

I had a lot of fun compiling this and sharing my favorite looks with you all! I know this can be a lot of makeup for those of you who only wear Kajal on a day to day basis but I absolutely love makeup! Also, this may seem like a lot of steps but it only takes me around 20 minutes to complete my whole face. I hope you found this post helpful and learnt something new!

Haul Series Part 4 – Sleek and Chambor Makeup!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 18th November 2013

Hello everyone!

Today, I am going to be sharing with you a little Sleek haul and some Chambor products that I got recently.

Sleek is a wonderful makeup brand! It is based in UK but you can get it online at http://www.sleekmakeup.com. Shipping charges apply!

Here is what I got from Sleek :

Image

1. Sleek I-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in “Oh So Special”

Image

Sleek’s eye shadows are beautifully pigmented. This is a very easy and girly palette. Each shade is beautifully pigmented!

Image

2. Sleek I-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in “Ultra Mattes V2 Darks”

Image

It is so hard to find great matte eye shadows at drugstore rates. Sleek does the job, and perfectly! I love each and every shade in the palette and you just need a little tap of the brush to achieve great pigmentation!

Each palette contains a black shade which is one of the most pigmented black eye shadows ever! It can be used for creating smoky eyes or lining them.

3. Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in “Pink Sprint”

Image

This palette is a wonderful collection of pink blushes. There is a plum shade that will go well with most fall/winter lipstick shades. A hot pink that gives that Barbie cheeks look and a dusty pink that is great for everyday. I have already reviewed the Lace Palette.

You can also read my review on Sleek’s Pout Paints.

Here is what I got from Chambor :

Image

1. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact in “RR2 Rose Pale” – Rs. 895/-

Image

This is my all time favorite compact. Plus, you also get a refill along with it so yay! 😀

It keeps me matte for much longer than any other compact and also gives some amount of coverage. It can hide minor imperfections and makes the skin look flawless over foundation.

2. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in “175 Sugar Pink” – Rs. 595/-

Image

This is the perfect nude for me! I was ecstatic when I found this! It is a coral nude that brightens my face up and does not wash me out!

The powder matte collection is great for people who prefer matte lipsticks.

This is going to be my everyday color.

3. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in “176 Pink Flamingo” – Rs. 595/-

Image

This is a Hot Pink! I am thinking it would look perfect with the hot pink blush in the Sleek palette above! 😛

4. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in “177 Crimson Red” – Rs. 595/-

Image

This is a very deep rich oxblood. These type of reds are perfect for the winter time. I prefer bold lip colors to be matte. They’re easier to maintain.

READ MY REVIEW ON THESE LIPSTICKS HERE

4. Chambor Velvette Touch Lip Liner Pencil in “RD 21” – Rs. 395/-

Image

This is a simple red lip pencil that would go with most red lipsticks.

5. Chambor Jewels Metallic Liquid Eyeliner – Free With Purchase

Image

This is a very pigmented black waterproof eyeliner with gold glitter. It would be great for night time looks and parties!

So this is it for my haul.

Please let me know if you want to see detailed reviews on any product! :-)

October Favorites!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 4th November 2013

I hope you had a lovely and safe Diwali! 🙂

Where did October go? In fact where did 2013 go? Well, no point getting into that.

I know I have been MIA lately. October has a lot of birthdays and festival preparations! I have been incredibly busy and didn’t have any time to sit and type! Stay tuned for a lot of hauls because that is what I have been doing! 😛 and this is what the festival season is all about!

This is my first favorites post and I did have some items that I wanted to tell you about.

Image

1. Lakme CC Cream

I have extremely oily skin but since the weather is changing, my skin has been acting weird. It is oily on some days and dry on others. So, on those blah days, I turn to this wonderful product. It is neither too drying nor too emollient. It has a perfect natural finish and feels like nothing on the skin. Keep it mind that it doesn’t have a ton of coverage but yes, it is build able. I use my sunscreen and a primer underneath. If you’re dry skinned then you will definitely need some prepping before this. I am wishing other drugstore brands would come out with CC creams too because I haven’t had any success with BB creams!

2. Florelle Wet & Dry Blush – Marmorized

Image

I received this blush in my October Vellvette Bag

This is a beautifully pigmented blush! It is perfect for fall and will go with any dark lipstick. It gives a believable sheen to the cheeks without depositing chunky glitter!

3. Lotus UV Screen Matte Gel

This is my Holy Grail sunscreen and I never step out in the sun without wearing it. I do not use moisturizer when I use this as sunscreens are emollient enough. This product also acts like a primer. It makes the skin appear smoother and makeup adheres better when I wear this. It will not melt off of your face and it doesn’t flash back! It offers SPF 50 and PA+++ protection. What’s not to love?

4. Sleek iDivine Eye Shadow Palette – Storm

Image

I LOVE Sleek products! I really wish they’d come to India. However you can order their stuff online from their website.

This is my go to everyday palette! I take this palette with me even when I travel and I am set in the eye shadow department. The shades are gorgeous, amazingly pigmented, smooth to apply, easy to blend…. And I can go on and on.

Sleek Blush Palette In “Lace” Review

Sleek Pout Paints in “Port”, “Lava” and “Pin Up” Review

5. Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme – Sheer Cherry

Image

This is another product I received in my August Vellvette Bag

I am not much of a lip gloss person. I prefer lipsticks and lip crayon things.

But this is such a beautiful coral pink color that I want to wear it everyday! 😛 ANNDDDD it makes the lips look fuller. It is non sticky, has a brush applcator and I don’t feel like my hair will stick to my lips. So Yay! 😀

6. Faces Eye Liner in Metal Brown

This is a very creamy liner and glides on easily on the upper lash line. It doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area and stays on pretty well! You can also use it on the waterline.

7. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

It is pigmented and stays on the waterline. It doesn’t give me raccoon eyes and doesn’t irritate them either!

Image

8. Maybelline Color Tattoo

I know this is a hyped product and rightfully so! I have to admit I was using them wrong before and didn’t quite understand the hype around them but now I absolutely love them! You only need to apply the thinnest layer. They’re pigmented and extremely long wearing + waterproof. They’re available in a multitude of colors but since I am most comfortable with neutral eyes I have been using a bronze shade and a gold one a lot during this month!

Image

9. QVS Flat Top Kabuki Brush

I use this brush for everything! Buffing foundation, applying powder, applying blush, blending bronzer! I own two as of now. Flat top brushes are very versatile and can be used for a variety of things! When I am in a hurry this is a god send because I don’t have to find a blush brush and a powder brush and a bronzer brush!

10. Inglot 17TL brush

Angled brushes are also very versatile. They can be used to apply eye liner, fill in the eyebrows, apply concealer around the lips….

I use this one for my brows and it is perfect!

Image

So that is it for my monthly favorites!

I hope you enjoyed reading and found this helpful!

Sleek Pout Paint Review : Shade 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 24th October 2013

Hello everyone!

First of all, I am a huge fan of Sleek Makeup. I wish they had a store in India or retailed here, but they deliver internationally so I am good 😛 I have their amazing iDivine eye shadow palette and their blushes and contour kit. I am never disappointed by Sleek for their high quality and affordable prices.

Their blush in “Rose Gold” is wonderful and a great dupe for Nars “Orgasm”. Read a detailed review HERE

I am reviewing the Sleek Pout Paints in the shades 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up.

Image

What Sleek Says :

A truly unique lip product, Pout Paint is a highly pigmented lip stain like no other. It provides full coverage that is light weight, non sticky and extremely buildable. It is made to be mixed, we’re pretty sure you’ll want more than one colour.

Pout Paint can be mixed with any of the varying shades to create a unique colour that is exclusive to you.

Available in 11 shades.

3ml/0.27fl.oz

Not tested on animals.

Store in a cool dry place.

Image

Ingredients :

Polyisobutane, Polybutene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole, Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcic (Sweet Almond)Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalene, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin and Fragrance. May contain: Titanium dioxide. Suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for vegans.

Price : $6.49 ( Approximately Rs. 400/- )

My Thoughts On The Product :

It comes in a tiny tube with a cap that screws shut. I like how the tube is transparent so it doesn’t get lost in my collection and the colors are easy to differentiate.

The product is dispensed by a small nozzle which is good because the Pout Paint is EXTREMELY pigmented. I have to be careful not to take too much product out as you only need the tiniest drop to coat the entire lips.

Image

What is best about this product is that it is long wearing (more than 7 hours) without being drying. It gives a semi glossy finish upon application which turns to a matte finish after the gloss wears off. It is non sticky, spreads wonderfully well and does not settle into lines or become patchy even hours after application. But, it would definitely apply better if your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. Since the pigment is too strong, it might adhere to dry patches.

The only downside is that you will need a lip brush to apply it. It can be spread with fingertips but the product is so pigmented that you will want to define the lip contour with a brush. There are nude shades available too for those of you who do not like such bold lip colours.

I find this to be such a fun product. They can be mixed with each other to create your own personal shade. They also have a white one to lighten any other shade and a blue one to darken. They are considered to be the cheaper dupes of the famous OCC Lip Tars!

Sometimes the product can separate within the tube but that can easily be fixed by pressing and rolling the tube and mixing the products back into place.

The shade “Port” is a deeply pigmented Plumy Pink Shade. It can be worn heavily to create a beautiful fall/winter appropriate look and it can also be blotted down to create a pretty fuchsia stained lip.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The shade “Lava” is a bright neon orange shade. This can also be worn heavily to rock a neon orange pout or could be muted down to a light orange stain.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The shade “Pin Up” is a bright juicy red. Again, this can be worn heavily to achieve the old Hollywood glamorous look or sheered down to a more wearable everyday red.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The GOOD :

1. Amazingly pigmented

2. Long wearing

3. Non drying

4. Smooth consistency that is easy to spread

5. Transparent tube

6. Supremely staining

7. Inexpensive

8. You only need a small quantity to coat the entire lips so it will last very long

The NOT SO GOOD :

1. Need a lip brush for application otherwise it can get messy

2. May adhere to dry patches on chapped lips

OVERALL :

I am quite happy with the product. They are an amazing option for people who like to create their own colours and play with makeup. They can also work as a good long wearing base under lipsticks by blotting some of it away and applying lipstick on top.

You can purchase these HERE
