What’s In My December 2013 Fab (Vellvette) Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 23rd December 2013

Hello everyone!

My Vellvette bag arrived early this month. Oh no wait, its Fab Bag now!

Anyway, I am glad they’re sending out bags early in time for Christmas and New Year.

I always appreciate the bags they give every month. They’re so much better than boxes and these bags are really useful as makeup bags and also come in handy for travel.

The theme was Happy New You!

Here is what I got :

1. Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I am happy with this product. My cuticles get really dry especially during winters. I use Olive Oil on them every night. Let’s see how this works.

2. Kama Ayurveda Lavender Patchouli Hair Conditioner

I have so many Kama Ayurveda samples from hotels, magazines etc though this is a good size sample. Plus this smells really strong. I don’t want such a strong Lavender scent in my hair. They also have brands like Kerastase, Lush, Toni&Guy in their brand portfolio but I haven’t received any product from them. I would prefer to receive a sample from higher end brands so that I can try the products before spending big bucks on them! Isn’t this the whole concept of a beauty bag anyway?

3. LA Splash Nail Splash – Blowfish Red

Who doesn’t have a red nail polish? Maybe I was just unlucky! I have seen some beautiful glitter shades in other bags. I am just disappointed in mine! Let’s hope that at least the formula is amazing!

4. Bonus : Anna Andre Nail Enamel Remover

Eh! What do I say about this? Its just a nail polish remover which is always good to have and it was a bonus product so I am not really complaining!

I am not too happy with this month’s bag. There was no makeup product. I want makeup! Not nail polish remover. I think the only product I am happy about is the cuticle cream. Last month’s bag was really good and I had high hopes for this month since it is the last bag of the year.

Anyway, Here is what I got overall :

My Experience With Acrylic/Fake Nails And Gel Manicure!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 23rd September 2013

Hello everyone! 🙂

So recently I went to a nail salon to get my nails done. I was unsure if I wanted to get acrylics. I had thought about getting a gel manicure only but my nails are very brittle and the thought of getting long nails in a matter of minutes was very alluring! 😛

I decided on a French Manicure, a true classic.

The place is called “CLAWS” and it is located in the GK 2 Market, New Delhi.

We started by pushing my cuticles back and filing my nails. Then we moved onto acrylic french manicure nails. They are white in color to get that beautiful french tip.

The acrylic nails were glued on mine just a few millimeters before where my real nails start growing out.

I know it looks really scary now but it gets better! 😛

My nails were now trimmed to a more appropriate length.

I still felt they needed to be a bit shorter so they were trimmed again, just a few millimeters. Then they were filed properly to avoid any sharp edges.

They were then filled with a mixture of some liquid and powder. I forgot to ask what it was! But, that is what makes the fake nails look like your real nails and binds them together.

They were filed again and buffed to perfection from top to bottom.

Then we moved onto a gel top coat that gives a beautiful shine that stays for a long time.

I wanted to get some nail art done but I didn’t want to spoil the sophisticated look of the french manicure so we decided to do an accent nail.

I was told to put my hands under an LED light to fix the gel nail polish.

The process took about 2 hours and I was exhausted after that so I had donuts! 😛

All in all, it was a good experience. However, they are really hard to maintain. You’ll need to get regular fillers so it still looks real. The maintenance depends on how fast your nails grow. I, for myself will not get acrylics again. Sometimes the white part of the nails turns yellow after eating food and I need to wash them with a brush to make them white again. I would much rather get a gel manicure from the next time onwards. It stays longer and makes the nails stronger.

About 2-3 coats of gel nail polish are applied. After every coat, you need to put your nails under the light to fix the polish. The last coat is a top coat that gives shine.

The nails look really thick and healthy after a gel manicure and it does not chip at all for about 2-3 weeks.

You’ll need to go back to the salon to remove your gel manicure.

I hope this was helpful to all of you who are considering getting acrylics or a gel manicure.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Vernis Nail Polish ( For Cannes 2013 ) Shade numbers 822, 821

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 9th August 2013

What L’Oreal claims :

The Ultimate Glamour : Luxuriously intense rich color for the nails with a long lasting diamond shine.

Limited edition colors brings you the dazzling glamour of Festival De Cannes.

L-R ( 822 Bronze Parure, 821 Copper Cuff )

My Thoughts :

These nail polishes are a limited edition collection by L’Oreal for the Cannes Festival.

The packaging is sleek and classy and is reminiscent of YSL. As with most L’Oreal products.

These are beautiful glitter nail polishes that give complete opaqueness in 2 coats. That is great for a glitter nail polish.

822 ( Bronze Parure ) has purpley grey silver glitter with gold flecks on a clear base.

821 ( Copper Cuff ) has copper colored glitter with gold flecks on a clear base.

Both of them are densely packed with glitter.

There are 6 shades available in this range including a gold glitter in black base that I am eyeing.

They also dry pretty quickly which is always a bonus.

Another thing that I love about this is the applicator. It is almost flat spatula-like and coats the nails perfectly.

Here is how it looks on the nails after two coats.

Without Flash

The GOOD :

1. Densely packed with glitter.

2. Dries quickly.

3. Great applicator.

1. I really hope they make it into the permanent collection.

2. Some shops may not carry all the shades.

Will I recommend and repurchase?

This will last me for quite some time so I don’t have to repurchase them but I do recommend picking the up when you see them because they are limited edition.

Buy them for Rs. 235 each for 5 ml at any store that carries L’Oreal. Or online here:
