My Thoughts :

I had wanted this foundation for a long time after reading tons of amazing reviews on it. Since my skin type is oily, this seemed like the perfect choice for a full coverage matte look. I am in the shade “1W2 Sand” which matches me perfectly! There are a whopping 24 shades to choose from so you’re sure to find your match. It comes in a delicate glass bottle packaging without a pump, which is a major let down because getting the product out carefully without making a mess is next to impossible. If you want to use a pump with it, you can buy an independent one from MAC.

It has a thick fluid consistency and sets quickly once applied to the face. This cannot be layered after it has set because it has a matte finish and can end up looking cakey. To achieve complete coverage, apply a thin layer and build it up fast as per needed. I suggest working on one part of the face at a time. After putting this on, I only apply a tiny touch of brightening concealer under my eyes and set everything with a light powder. Since I’m blessed with naturally spot-free skin, I do not need to cover much but, I’m highly impressed by how even-toned and flawless it makes the skin look. It does not feel heavy but because it is such a full coverage foundation, it is definitely not going to look natural and skin-like in the harsh sunlight. It is best suited for the night time, parties or indoor events.

The lasting power of this foundation is commendable. It looks fresh throughout the day and doesn’t move around or transfer anywhere. Since I have oily skin, I usually need to blot my face with powder once or twice a day. I have had days when I’ve worn this at 9 in the morning, went to work and attended a late night party knowing that my skin is looking its best. This has quickly become my go-to foundation when I know I’m gonna be gone for a long time and need my skin to be perfect.

Despite the SPF, it does not give you a white cast and looks wonderful in pictures. One thing to keep in mind is that this foundation is better suited for people with oily/combination skin type. If you have dry skin, make sure you prep with a heavy duty moisturizer beforehand. Using a primer will enhance the already impressive longevity of this product. I have found that the best way to apply this foundation is by using a wet makeup sponge or a wet brush. When I don’t have time to bounce a sponge around on my face, I like spraying a kabuki brush with makeup setting spray or MAC Fix Plus and applying a fine layer on the face. I suggest everyone with oily/combination skin to invest in a great foundation that will last throughout the day and give you the coverage that you want, while controlling sebum production. It is definitely worth the high price and I will repurchase it once I’m about to finish this bottle.

Rating – 4.8/5 This is how it looks on me :

The Good :

1. Amazingly full coverage.

2. Makes the skin look perfect.

3. No white cast.

4. Commendable lasting power.

5. Doesn’t oxidize.

6. Easily available.

7. Controls oil and sebum.

8. Doesn’t break me out.

9. Waterproof.

10. Comes in 24 shades with various undertones.

The Could Be Better :

1. Not travel friendly due to the delicate glass packaging which is prone to breakage.

2. No pump.

3. Hefty price tag.

4. Will look cakey in the sunlight.

Side Note – I have a shoe haul, a Sarojini Nagar haul and an online shopping haul coming up! 😀

Sleek Makeup Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 28th January 2015

Hello everyone,

If you’ve been following me for a minute, you know that I’m obsessed with Sleek Makeup. Every single product I’ve tried from Sleek, I’ve fallen in love with (though I’m yet to try their base makeup). You can purchase these products from Sleek’s website or via Luxola.

So, without further delay, let’s get to the products :

1. Eyebrow Kit in “Dark”

Since the day I got this, I haven’t been able to set it down. I’ve been using it constantly as much brow fixer. And notice that little pair of tweezers, super adorable! I use the angled brush provided to carve out the shape of my eyebrows with the eyebrow wax. Then fill in and set the whole brow with the powder using an Inglot brush.

2. True Colour Matte Lipsticks in “Papaya Punch” and “Mystic”. Sheen Lipstick in “Liqueur”. Matte Me Liquid Lipstick in “Rioja Red”.

I am a matte lipstick lover! The liquid lipstick is a budge proof bang on red. I have always wanted to try purple lipstick and thought it would be perfect to try one now and I’m so glad I did because I’m completely hooked. The orange shade perks up my complexion instantly and eliminates any dullness from the face. It will suit most people with a fair skin tone. The nude shade however, unfortunately does not look great on me!

3. I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes in “Au Naturel” and “The Original”

Sleek2 Sleek8

I own 5-6 of these palettes because they’re high quality and more than worth the price you pay. I got the natural one for everyday use and the original palette because it had some fun blue-green shades.

4. Blush By 3 in “Pink Lemonade”

This one contains a gorgeous cream blush flanked by beautiful shimmery blushes. The pigmentation on these blushes is unreal and they also perform well for hours on the cheeks.

5. Single Blushes in “Rose Gold” and “Pomegranate”

I have 4 blush palettes and wanted to try some singlets from the range. The left one is a breathtaking rose gold (the camera did not do it justice) and the right one is a great versatile plum shade, perfect for fall/winters.

This is it for my Sleek Makeup Haul!

Haul Series Part 10 – Huge Drugstore Makeup Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 18th December 2013

Hello everyone!

I visited NewU again! I know I just shouldn’t go there! That store is infectious. Everything is just there and I want to try so many things!

Anyway, I am a crazy shopaholic as you may be able to tell by now after a huge haul series!

This is going to be a collective NewU haul. They’re giving away gift coupons worth Rs. 250/- on a purchase of 2500/- and above till the 31st of December 2013.

I will show you what I got :

1. Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation – Rs. 800/-

I really like the regular Colorstay and I went to restock on that. The SA at NewU said they only had the whipped one in stock so I thought I would give it a try!

2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in “Sweetheart”, “Berry Crush” and “Romantic” – Rs. 700/- each

I absolutely love these! I already have “Lovesick”, “Honey” and “Rendezvous”. They stain the lips and are non drying.

3. Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in “Red Coat” – Rs. 400/-

This is warm red. It is the only bright shade in the 9 to 5 range. It is supremely pigmented, easy to wear and lasts for hours! I feel like I have found my perfect red in this and I never want to be without it!

4. Maybelline Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipcolor in “118 Splendor Plum” – Rs. 285/-

This was a gift with purchase. It is a plumy shade with silver glitter.

5. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in “Mat 2” – Rs. 375/-

This is a pinky orange in the tube but it looks pink on the lips. It is not as matte as I expected but it is very comfortable to wear.

6. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in “Mat 3” – Rs. 375/-

This is a straight up neon orange shade.

7. Colorbar Full Cover Concealer in “001 Soft Ivory” – Rs. 495/-

This is a good concealer for covering up minor spots and dark circles.

8. Loreal Infallible Eye Shadows in “Endless Chocolate” and “Burning Black” – Rs. 475/- each

Image Image

These are my favorite eye shadows! I just wish they would make them in all colors and matte ones too! They’re creamy, easy to blend and super pigmented!

9. Colorbar Showstopper Eyelash Curler – Rs. 350/-

Image Image

10. Colorbar Lip Contour Definer in “Mad Pink” – Rs. 550/-

11. Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in “Velvet Wine” – Rs. 75/-

This is a gorgeous red shade with red, pink and golden shimmer. The base is not very pigmented but it will look beautiful as a top coat on most reds, pinks and wines. This is the perfect shade for the holidays and parties!

12. Maybelline Hyper Sharp Eye Liner Pen – Rs. 375/-

It is just so much easier to draw on a winged eyeliner with a pen.

13. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – Rs. 475/-

This is my absolute FAVORITE mascara! It gives unbelievable results and it seriously looks like you’re wearing falsies.

14. QVS Angled Eyeshadow Brush – Rs. 220/-

I am highly impressed with the quality of QVS brushes! I absolutely love their Kabuki brush ( See October Favorites ) and eyelash comb so I though I’d try another one.

15. Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm in “Pomegranate” – 135/-

It smells really nice and has a slight reddish tint on the lips.

16. Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm – Rs. 145/-

I got this on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation in one of her videos on Youtube!

This is it for my haul. Well, I also bought some toiletries! 😛

I hope you enjoyed reading!

Haul Series Part 2 – Drugstore Makeup!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 10th November 2013

Hello Everyone!

So this is the part two of my Haul Series! I went to the mall with a few friends and somehow we ended up in a NewU store! That store is dangerous. Once you go inside, it is next to impossible to come out without purchasing something!

So guess what happened? Yes, a HAUL happened! 😛

Here is what I bought :

1. Lakme CC Cream – Rs. 250/-

This was featured in my October Favorites! My skin has been making its own decisions lately. It has been acting oilier on some days and dry on the others! So on those almost dry days, I turn to this!

2. L’oreal Infallible Foundation – Rs. 1250/-

I wanted a foundation with decent coverage that looked natural and would stand the test of time! This seemed perfect so I picked it up!

3. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer – Rs. 475/-

I was very confused between the Colorbar Full Coverage concealer or this one! I do not need to cover blemishes and acne spots since I make my skin behave so, I decided upon a highlighting concealer for my under eye area!

4. Faces Long Wear Eye Liner Pencil ( Metal Brown ) – Rs. 349/-

I swear by this eye liner! Brown is less harsh than black. This must be my 4th or 5th repurchase. Enough said!

5. Nail Polishes :

Lakme 9 to 5 Long Wear Nail Color in Beige Suit – Rs. 200/-

This polish goes fully pigmented in one swipe. It is perfect for all the working ladies who do not have enough time to pamper themselves but still want to look put together. It is a beautiful peachy nude shade.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color in 218 Crazy Berry – Rs. 75/-

This is a beautiful berry shade that is perfect for the fall/winter time and will complement berry lips beautifully!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color in 401 Constant Candy – Rs. 75/-

During the fall/winter time, I usually gravitate towards dark nails or nude nails. This is one of those pale pink nude shades that look great with any outfit!

L’oreal Nail Polish in 409 – Rs. 225/-

This is a deep wine, bordering on black. I love the pigmentation on these L’oreal nail polishes and the flat brush applicator is very user friendly!

6. Colorbar Emphaseyes Eye Blending Brush

Image Image

Because I wanted to try some of the Colorbar brushes…..

It is tapered on one side and flat on the other, unlike conventional blending brushes that are round and fluffy. It feels soft and easy to use. I am most likely going to use it for under eye concealing.

7. Freebie! Maybelline Manicure Kit.

Isnt it just so exciting when the store manager decides that you’ve burnt enough of your money to deserve a free gift? 😛

It looks like a sturdy, good quality manicure set that would be just perfect to travel with! 😀

This is it for my haul but lots more coming soon! So stay tuned.
