The Body Shop Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 19th November 2014

Hello everyone!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I absolutely love The Body Shop! I regularly use their bath and body products as well as their makeup. I stocked up on some favorites and also got a few other things that I wanted to try. There is a lot of stuff so without further rambling I’ll show you what I got!

1. Tea Tree Oil, Tea Tree Pore Minimiser, Skin Primer Matte It

B2

I wanted the Tea Tree Oil to spot treat any pesky zits. Tea Tree Pore Minimiser and Skin Primer Matte It are my holy grail primers. I use them together or independently and they work really well. These are probably my fourth or fifth tubes of both of them.

2. Body Butters – Coconut, Strawberry, Japanese Cherry Blossom and Mango

B1

Body butters are probably my favorite product from The Body Shop. They are intensely moisturizing and smell heavenly. I couldn’t decide which ones to get so I got all the scents I liked because winters are here and you can never have too much moisturizer! 😛

3. Born Lippy Stick Lip Balms – Strawberry, Plum and Toffee

B6

Same goes for lip balm. In the winter time, lips get really dry and any added moisture is welcome. I love these ones because they have a matte texture which wears really well under matte lipsticks and does not make the lipstick look shiny like other lip balms.

4. Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil

B4

This stuff is absolutely amazing! I was using a slightly darker shade before but I still finished it. It makes the skin glow and look healthy. It also blurs imperfections making the skin appear smooth and shiny!

5. White Musk Smoky Rose Eau De Toilette, Strawberry Body Mist, White Musk Sport Eau De Toilette

B3

This is my third bottle of the Smoky Rose scent. I cannot get enough of it! It is a very sexy and intoxicating fragrance which I love. The Strawberry Body Mist is also my fifth or sixth bottle. This is a very delicious strawberry scent that is easy to wear on a day to day basis. It smells like straight up fresh strawberries. I got the Sport one to try something new and I have to say I am completely hooked! I haven’t used anything else since the day I got it! It is a fresh and unisex fragrance.

6. Banana Conditioner

B5

I wanted to try a moistuzing conditioner that will help nourish my hair and soothe down some frizz. I am not usually a banana fan but this smells absolutely wonderful because it is a bit of a mixed scent.

This is it for my crazy haul! I hope you enjoyed this post,

10 Makeup Blunders To Avoid!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 6th January 2014

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to be taking you through 10 of the most common makeup mistakes that I wish people could avoid.

There are many YouTube videos and blogs that you can follow for makeup inspiration. Pick up any magazine and you will see a flawless face on the cover. No, celebrities don’t wake up in the morning looking that pretty. A lot goes into making them look as we see them. They have a crew of makeup artists, hair stylists and wardrobe stylists following them. However, on a daily basis we should aim to look and feel our best.

So, as promised in my last post, here a few of my personal makeup pet peeves and how to get past them :

1. Miss Cake Face :

This is one of the most common makeup mistakes. Cake face isn’t pretty. We don’t need absolutely full coverage on a daily basis, even if you suffer from acne scarring. It looks highly unnatural and attracts further attention to the skin.

The sun is NOT your friend. It will highlight any problem you have. Instead of caking on concealer, use a BB cream, tinted moisturizer or a sheer coverage foundation and spot conceal. This will not only even out your skin tone but also conceal any problem areas. Let your foundation cover most of the problem first then you can conceal if you need to.

Also, full coverage makeup is suitable for the night and flash photography. You can get away with a lot more at night time. If you have good skin, please don’t feel the need to use foundation, concealer and powder. Flaunt your lovely skin by highlighting your under eye area and using some powder to reduce shine.

2. Miss Glitzy Face :

Too much glitter on the face can look creepy and unnatural. You should always use glitter/glow on one aspect of your face and own it. If you want glowing skin, keep everything else relatively matte. If you’re wearing glitter eye shadow then skip the gloss and wear matte lips. Dewy skin with sparkly eyes and glossy lips can sometimes look too much. It may look beautiful in magazines and on runways but it doesn’t translate so well in real life.

3. Miss Color Bomb Face :

Too much color on the face can look clownish. It is safe to stick to neutrals on a daily basis. Something that you can do to make your features look harmonious is match the color of your lipstick to your blush. You could also use your bronzer as eye shadow to create uniformity.

4. Miss Excessive Face :

A good rule of thumb to follow is to either play up your eyes or your lips. There may be exceptions like black smokey eyes with red lips which can beautiful during the night. But, on a daily basis, heavily kohl-ed eyes with bright lips can be a bit much. If you want a loud mouth, keep your eye makeup minimal with just a bit of defining on the top lash line and mascara. It will not distract from your beautiful features while still highlighting what you want to put forth.

5. Miss Different Colored Face :

I cannot stress the importance of matching your face to the rest of your body. Your face and your body have to look like they belong to the same person. Please accept your complexion and skip the fairer foundation or darker foundation, unless your body is tanned and the face is not.

6. Miss No Lashes :

Do NOT skip mascara! Mascara is a very important step in your daily makeup. The effects are beautiful! It opens up the eyes and makes you look more awake. I see so many girls with beautifully Kohl-ed eyes but no mascara! Why? Oh why?

7. Miss Red Teeth :

I will agree I have also suffered from this horrendous disaster. The best way is to use matte lipstick. If that isn’t your cup of tea then use gloss sparingly. Another wonderful trick is to take your finger and wrap a tissue around it and clean inside your inner mouth with it, that way, the lipstick that would’ve gotten on your teeth is now on the tissue.

8. Miss What Happened To Eyebrows? :

Eyebrows are such an essential part of your face that often get neglected! They frame your face in a wonderful way when done right. Do not over pluck them but do not leave them bushy and untamed. You can fill them in with brow powders, pencils, gels, brow pens etc. and set them with brow gel or hairspray. If you’re lucky and have dense brows naturally, just give them a brush through with a spooly and set them with brow gel/hairspray. Essentially, the color of your eye brows should match the color of the roots of your hair.

Always remember, if your eyebrows look great, people are going to notice how beautiful your eyes are but, if your eyebrows look wrong, they’re going to notice how bad your eyebrows are!

9. Miss Flaky Face :

Flaky dry patches on the skin are not attractive. Anything you apply over a dry patch will cling and only highlight the problem. Applying a good moisturizer suitable for your skin type is so important. Also, using a primer will help minimize pores and make the foundation glide on your skin. Your makeup will look fresh and last longer this way.

10. Miss Powder Face :

Powder is very essential to set your makeup, especially for oily beauties. But, overload of powder makes you look dry and flat. Only powder shiny areas like the T-zone and to set your under eye concealer. Use a light hand and before touching up your powder later in the day, blot the oil on your face with blotting sheets or a single tissue, then apply the tiniest amount of powder on top.

Makeup should be used to enhance your natural beauty and give you a boost of confidence. A mistake is not the end of time and don’t give yourself hell over it. There is always a next time! 🙂

Also, NEVER sleep with your makeup on. no matter how tired you are. If you really are too tired to wash your face, tone and apply moisturizer, at least wipe it all off with a makeup wipe.

I hope you found this helpful.

Haul Series Part 10 – Huge Drugstore Makeup Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 18th December 2013

Hello everyone!

I visited NewU again! I know I just shouldn’t go there! That store is infectious. Everything is just there and I want to try so many things!

Anyway, I am a crazy shopaholic as you may be able to tell by now after a huge haul series!

This is going to be a collective NewU haul. They’re giving away gift coupons worth Rs. 250/- on a purchase of 2500/- and above till the 31st of December 2013.

I will show you what I got :

1. Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation – Rs. 800/-

Image

I really like the regular Colorstay and I went to restock on that. The SA at NewU said they only had the whipped one in stock so I thought I would give it a try!

Image

2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in “Sweetheart”, “Berry Crush” and “Romantic” – Rs. 700/- each

Image

Image

Image

I absolutely love these! I already have “Lovesick”, “Honey” and “Rendezvous”. They stain the lips and are non drying.

3. Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in “Red Coat” – Rs. 400/-

Image

This is warm red. It is the only bright shade in the 9 to 5 range. It is supremely pigmented, easy to wear and lasts for hours! I feel like I have found my perfect red in this and I never want to be without it!

4. Maybelline Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipcolor in “118 Splendor Plum” – Rs. 285/-

Image

This was a gift with purchase. It is a plumy shade with silver glitter.

5. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in “Mat 2” – Rs. 375/-

Image

This is a pinky orange in the tube but it looks pink on the lips. It is not as matte as I expected but it is very comfortable to wear.

6. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in “Mat 3” – Rs. 375/-

Image

This is a straight up neon orange shade.

7. Colorbar Full Cover Concealer in “001 Soft Ivory” – Rs. 495/-

Image

This is a good concealer for covering up minor spots and dark circles.

8. Loreal Infallible Eye Shadows in “Endless Chocolate” and “Burning Black” – Rs. 475/- each

Image Image

These are my favorite eye shadows! I just wish they would make them in all colors and matte ones too! They’re creamy, easy to blend and super pigmented!

Image Image

9. Colorbar Showstopper Eyelash Curler – Rs. 350/-

Image Image

10. Colorbar Lip Contour Definer in “Mad Pink” – Rs. 550/-

Image

Image

11. Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in “Velvet Wine” – Rs. 75/-

Image

This is a gorgeous red shade with red, pink and golden shimmer. The base is not very pigmented but it will look beautiful as a top coat on most reds, pinks and wines. This is the perfect shade for the holidays and parties!

12. Maybelline Hyper Sharp Eye Liner Pen – Rs. 375/-

Image

It is just so much easier to draw on a winged eyeliner with a pen.

13. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – Rs. 475/-

Image

This is my absolute FAVORITE mascara! It gives unbelievable results and it seriously looks like you’re wearing falsies.

14. QVS Angled Eyeshadow Brush – Rs. 220/-

Image

I am highly impressed with the quality of QVS brushes! I absolutely love their Kabuki brush ( See October Favorites ) and eyelash comb so I though I’d try another one.

15. Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm in “Pomegranate” – 135/-

Image

It smells really nice and has a slight reddish tint on the lips.

16. Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm – Rs. 145/-

Image

I got this on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation in one of her videos on Youtube!

This is it for my haul. Well, I also bought some toiletries! 😛

Haul Series Part 9 – Kryolan Makeup Haul

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 17th December 2013

Hello everyone!

I had been wanting to go to the Kryolan store since ages but it just wasn’t happening! I finally told myself that I had to go and reached there at 7:10 pm because of immense traffic! The store shuts at 7! I was mega annoyed. But, the next day I gathered my motivation and decided to go again. This time I reached the store at 6:40! 😛

The store was open but it was on the verge of closing. By the time me and my friend were done, we had to leave through the back gate! 😛

The MUA and SA were both very friendly and helpful and they didn’t seem to mind us making them overwork! 🙂

This is what I got :

Image

1. Kajal Pencil – Rs. 150/-

Image

This is available in three colors : Black, Brown and Nude.

2. Brush No. 3612 – Rs. 160/-

Image

This brush can be used to pack eye shadow on the lid. I intend to use this as a push liner brush.

3. Brush No. 9863 – Rs. 500

Image

This is a fluffy crease eye shadow blending brush and it is very soft! 😀

Here is a comparison to the Kryolan Professional Art 3511 Brush :

Image

As you can see, the black one is fluffier and blends eye shadows beautifully. The smaller one is a good brush for beginners and it can also be a great brush for defining the “outer v” of the eyes.

4. Faceliner – Colorcode 50 ( Navy Blue )

Image

The concept of a “Faceliner” was interesting! I am sorry I don’t remember the exact price of these but they must be around 250/- or 300/-

5. Faceliner – Colorcode 22 ( Nude )

Image

This would be a great brightening shade in the waterline.

Keep in mind that they dry a little bit during the winter time but they’re smooth in the summers. You can solve the dryness problem by blowing a hair dryer on them before using.

6. Lipstick – LC165 – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a brick red shade. If you’re someone who is afraid of intense reds then this will be a great starting shade for you.

7. Lipstick – LC083 – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a yellow based barbie pink shade.

8. Lipstick – LC150 ( Nude ) – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a coral-y nude shade.

Here are the swatches of the lipsticks :

Image

Left to Right – LC150, LC165, LC083

9. Liner – 915 ( Turquoise ) and 913 ( Purple )

Image

10. Dual Finish Compact ( 3W ) – Rs. 1200/-

Image

Image

This is almost like a powder foundation. You can use it with a wet brush or sponge to achieve higher coverage.

11. Sponges – Rs. 125/-

Image

Just some sponges!

This is it for my Kryolan Haul!

I hope you enjoyed reading!

Haul Series Part 3 – The Body Shop Haul!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 17th November 2013

Hello Everyone!

This is the part three of my Haul Series!

My brother had come to visit during the holiday season so I asked him to get me some stuff! 😛

If you’re a subscriber then you must know that I LOVE The Body Shop! It is my favorite bath and body care brand. Since The Body Shop products are manufactured in UK, they’re slightly cheaper in London and my brother was happy to get the stuff for me! 😛

So here is all that I got :

1. Body Mists

Image

L-R

White Musk Fragrance Mist – This is just a lighter version of their iconic White Musk fragrance. Great for the day time. It is light and fresh!

2 Strawberry Body Mists – This is my favorite scent of all time and I don’t ever want to be without it!

Shea Body Mist – I had been meaning to try their Shea range and what better way to start than a body mist? 😛

Moringa Body Mist – This smells like beautiful Moringa flowers! 😀

2. White Musk Smoky Rose Eau De Toilette

Image

I own the White Musk and White Musk Libertine Eau De Toilette and I quite like them for their lightness! This however, is more like a night time scent. It is beautiful! It doesn’t quite smell like roses but it is a deep rich fragrance.

Go smell it and you’ll know what I mean!

3. Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream and Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion

Image

I have extremely oily skin and I have heard so many good things about this range! I am excited to try these! 😀

4. Tea Tree Pore Minimiser and Skin Primer Matte It

Image

I use the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser religiously every time before applying makeup and it makes the pores appear smoother and my makeup stays on better. But, I wanted to try a proper primer since the Tea Tree one is actually a pore minimiser! Also featured in my Product Empties

5. Strawberry Body Lotion

Image

I am obsessed with the entire Strawberry Range from The Body Shop. This is my favorite lotion. It is water based and absorbs quickly into the skin!

6. Lip Line Fixer

Image

This is supposed to keep your lipstick inside your lips! Interesting concept. So, I wanted to try it!

7. All-In-One Concealer – Shade 00

Image

This concealer is almost like Benefit’s Fake Up. But, instead of the moisturizer outside, it is inside! I get dry under eyes and I wanted a moisturizing concealer for that area!

So this is it for my haul.

Please let me know if you want to see detailed reviews on any product! 🙂

Sleek Pout Paint Review : Shade 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 24th October 2013

Hello everyone!

First of all, I am a huge fan of Sleek Makeup. I wish they had a store in India or retailed here, but they deliver internationally so I am good 😛 I have their amazing iDivine eye shadow palette and their blushes and contour kit. I am never disappointed by Sleek for their high quality and affordable prices.

Their blush in “Rose Gold” is wonderful and a great dupe for Nars “Orgasm”. Read a detailed review HERE

I am reviewing the Sleek Pout Paints in the shades 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up.

Image

What Sleek Says :

A truly unique lip product, Pout Paint is a highly pigmented lip stain like no other. It provides full coverage that is light weight, non sticky and extremely buildable. It is made to be mixed, we’re pretty sure you’ll want more than one colour.

Pout Paint can be mixed with any of the varying shades to create a unique colour that is exclusive to you.

Available in 11 shades.

3ml/0.27fl.oz

Not tested on animals.

Store in a cool dry place.

Image

Ingredients :

Polyisobutane, Polybutene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole, Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcic (Sweet Almond)Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalene, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin and Fragrance. May contain: Titanium dioxide. Suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for vegans.

Price : $6.49 ( Approximately Rs. 400/- )

My Thoughts On The Product :

It comes in a tiny tube with a cap that screws shut. I like how the tube is transparent so it doesn’t get lost in my collection and the colors are easy to differentiate.

The product is dispensed by a small nozzle which is good because the Pout Paint is EXTREMELY pigmented. I have to be careful not to take too much product out as you only need the tiniest drop to coat the entire lips.

Image

What is best about this product is that it is long wearing (more than 7 hours) without being drying. It gives a semi glossy finish upon application which turns to a matte finish after the gloss wears off. It is non sticky, spreads wonderfully well and does not settle into lines or become patchy even hours after application. But, it would definitely apply better if your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. Since the pigment is too strong, it might adhere to dry patches.

The only downside is that you will need a lip brush to apply it. It can be spread with fingertips but the product is so pigmented that you will want to define the lip contour with a brush. There are nude shades available too for those of you who do not like such bold lip colours.

I find this to be such a fun product. They can be mixed with each other to create your own personal shade. They also have a white one to lighten any other shade and a blue one to darken. They are considered to be the cheaper dupes of the famous OCC Lip Tars!

Sometimes the product can separate within the tube but that can easily be fixed by pressing and rolling the tube and mixing the products back into place.

The shade “Port” is a deeply pigmented Plumy Pink Shade. It can be worn heavily to create a beautiful fall/winter appropriate look and it can also be blotted down to create a pretty fuchsia stained lip.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The shade “Lava” is a bright neon orange shade. This can also be worn heavily to rock a neon orange pout or could be muted down to a light orange stain.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The shade “Pin Up” is a bright juicy red. Again, this can be worn heavily to achieve the old Hollywood glamorous look or sheered down to a more wearable everyday red.

Image

This is how it looks on my lips :

Image

Image

The GOOD :

1. Amazingly pigmented

2. Long wearing

3. Non drying

4. Smooth consistency that is easy to spread

5. Transparent tube

6. Supremely staining

7. Inexpensive

8. You only need a small quantity to coat the entire lips so it will last very long

The NOT SO GOOD :

1. Need a lip brush for application otherwise it can get messy

2. May adhere to dry patches on chapped lips

OVERALL :

I am quite happy with the product. They are an amazing option for people who like to create their own colours and play with makeup. They can also work as a good long wearing base under lipsticks by blotting some of it away and applying lipstick on top.

You can purchase these HERE

Soap & Glory Super-Colour Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss ( Half Naked ) Review, Photos!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 9th August 2013

What Soap & Glory Claims :

Fasten your seatbelts! It’s Super-Colour™ Sexy Mother Pucker™ with SUPERFILL™ Lip Plumping Spheres and LIPSWELL™ Volume Boost Technology.

Britain’s hottest selling lip plumping gloss, Soap & Glory’s bestselling Original Formula SEXY MOTHER PUCKER includes ingenious PLUMPING MICROSPHERES that explode in volume up to 10x when they come in contact with water (they’re like tiny, dehydrated little sponges that expand when they get wet) and an exclusive microcirculation-stimulating extract to visibly enhance lip volume. Amazing. Addictive.

Image

Ingredients :

Polybutene, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Glycerin, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Silica, Isopropyl Myristate, Parfum, Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract, Stevioside, Propylene Glycol, Aqua (Water), BHT, Limonene, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Methylparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Alcohol, Propylene Carbonate, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 15850 (Red 7 Lake), CI 15850 (Red 6), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides)

Image

My Thoughts :

I absolutely love the packaging of this product, Soap & Glory is always a step ahead in terms of packaging. All the products look so attractive!

Image

Coming to the actual product. It smells delicious! Like Nutella. Hazelnutty-Chocolaty.

But this is the stickiest gloss I have ever used. Sticky to the point that your lips will feel stuck together and your hair will stick to it too.

Image

The company claims 10x more volume which is false according to me. I have thin(ish) lips and I am always looking for good lip plumpers but this one unfortunately disappointed me!

The gloss however is intensely pigmented. I think this is the only shade that is the most pigmented in this range of glosses from Soap & Glory. It looks absolutely beautiful on the lips. The color is so beautiful that sometimes I use it to nude out some of my other bright colors! Even though it is so sticky.

Image

It leaves a slight tingly feeling on the lips. Nothing too harsh or unbearable. It feels like very tiny pins and needles poking at your lips.

I expected a lot from this product due to the high claims! But it did not live up to my expectations!

You can see the difference for yourself.

Image

The GOOD :

1. Very intensely pigmented

2. Smells amazing

3. Beautiful packaging.

The COULD BE BETTER :

1. Super sticky

2. Does not do near to what it claims. Barely plumped my lips to 2x.

Will I recommend and repurchase?

No. However I do want to try their gloss sticks! 🙂

Price – Rs. 1100 at Sephora, New Delhi.
