Sultry Cat Eyes With Red Lips!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 3rd February 2014

Hello everyone!

I was experimenting with my makeup and came up with this gorgeous look that is perfect for a party or a date. Especially with Valentine’s Day coming up, I wanted to show you guys a different and special look you can recreate.

I have always been a fan of mysterious winged eyes and this is just a step up from the regular wings that I do everyday. I paired it with bold matte red lips. Of course, you can opt for a nude which will look great too but I wanted to go all out! 😀

You can see it here in My Go To Makeup Looks

My Go To Makeup Looks!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 7th October 2014

Hello everyone!

I suddenly realized that I’ve never done a post on my everyday makeup!

I want to show you my basic everyday makeup and the look that I gravitate towards the most. This is the makeup that will look great on almost everyone and it is easy to achieve. It makes me look polished and put together and I can finish my makeup in just 20 minutes when I know this is what I’m going to be doing! I have been sticking to this look since about a year now and I haven’t felt the need to change it because it looks amazing and so many people have complimented me on it 🙂

This is also the look that you’ll find me wearing in most of my outfit posts because it looks great with everything. I do change my lipstick and blushes every so often when I want a different shade. Sometimes, I’ll use a colored eyeliner as well but for the most part, this is how I prefer my makeup to look like on an everyday basis :

M1

Winged eyeliner and nude lips is such a great look for everyone. Winging your eyeliner perfectly will take some practice but don’t worry it will come!

Here are all the steps involved to achieve this look and some of my favorite products that I use every time I put makeup on :

1. I like to start by priming my face with either The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer or The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It. Sometimes I use both of them together, I don’t necessarily have large pores but I have oily skin and I like to prolong the wear of my makeup as much as I can! During the winter time when my skin is not as oily, I like to apply MAC Strobe Cream on my cheeks for added glow. I usually like to wait a minute before I put foundation on to let the primer set.

2. After priming, I buff a thin layer of foundation all over my face with a buffing brush or fingers. I always make sure to apply a really thin layer because I don’t like to look cakey! Some of my favorites are the Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse for really oily days, Benefit Hello Flawless Brightening Makeup, Loreal Infallible 16Hr Foundation, Lakme CC Cream! I like foundations that are meant for normal skin and don’t have a very matte finish because I like to look glowy and healthy.

3. Most of the foundations that I like have sheer to medium coverage and I prefer that because I don’t want heavy coverage all over my face. I use the Clinique Even Better Concealer in the shade Orange Brightener under my eyes. It is an orange concealer that helps to cancel out any purple/blue undertones under the eyes. Over that I’ll use the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I also use to spot conceal if I have a breakout. To highlight my cheek bones, upper lip area, under the eyebrows and forehead I apply a thin layer of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.

M8

4. If I want my blush to last extra long, I’ll apply a cream blush on my cheeks but on most days I just go ahead and set the whole face with my all time favorite powder, Chambor Silver Shadow Compact or Benefit Hello Flawless Powder. If I want a sheer-er compact I’ll use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder or Maybelline Clear Glow Compact.

5. Then, I fill in my eyebrows with Inglot Matte Shadow in the shade 329 and set them with The Body Shop Eyebrow Gel or clear mascara. If I need to get my eyebrows done and they’re very unruly then I’ll use an eyebrow wax from Inglot before filling with powder.

6. Moving onto eyes, I draw a fine line on my top lashline with a black kohl liner, mainly Maybelline Colossal Kajal or Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. Sometimes I’ll use a brown like Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in the shade Cocoa Bar or Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil in Metal Brown. (Other times I may use a green, purple, grey or blue depending on my mood but on most days its either black or brown.) I like to smudge the line with a pencil brush. Then, I line both my top and bottom waterline with the same shade and smudge it a little on the lower lash line with a pencil brush. Then I start with a liquid/gel eyeliner like Maybelline Eye Liner Pen or the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black and trace along the top lash line creating a wing at the end. I then curl my lashes with the Colorbar Eyelash Curler and use my Holy Grail mascara, Maybelline the Falsies on both my top and bottom lashes. I like to apply a second coat of mascara with Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express and this combination gives me long voluminous lashes every time!

M5

7. I like to define my cheekbones for which I contour my face slightly with Sephora Powder Foundation in the shade Deep and lightly dust some on the sides of my forehead and under my jawline as well. I use a different shade of blush almost everyday but my favorite is Sleek Lace Palette. After blush, I’ll use a highlight from the Sleek Face Form Kit on my cheekbones, under the eyebrows, on my cupid’s bow and in the center on my forehead.

8. Like blush, my lip color changes everyday. But, one combination I keep coming back to is Nyx Lip Liner in Natural and Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade Red Chaos on top! This is the most beautiful peachy nude combination for my complexion and I prefer matte lips over glossy lips!

P.S. I like to use a makeup setting spray just before I head out to help my makeup last extra long!

I don’t use eye shadows on an everyday basis but on some days I like to get fancy! 😛

M2

And sometimes I’ll wear a matte red lip which to me, is the most beautiful look in the world! But who wears red lips everyday?

M6

When I feel like going all out, I’ll combine smokey eyes with red lips!

M4

Sometimes I’ll play with eyeliner and do something like this :

M3

I had a lot of fun compiling this and sharing my favorite looks with you all! I know this can be a lot of makeup for those of you who only wear Kajal on a day to day basis but I absolutely love makeup! Also, this may seem like a lot of steps but it only takes me around 20 minutes to complete my whole face. I hope you found this post helpful and learnt something new!

Haul Series Part 2 – Drugstore Makeup!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 10th November 2013

Hello Everyone!

So this is the part two of my Haul Series! I went to the mall with a few friends and somehow we ended up in a NewU store! That store is dangerous. Once you go inside, it is next to impossible to come out without purchasing something!

So guess what happened? Yes, a HAUL happened! 😛

Here is what I bought :

1. Lakme CC Cream – Rs. 250/-

Image

This was featured in my October Favorites! My skin has been making its own decisions lately. It has been acting oilier on some days and dry on the others! So on those almost dry days, I turn to this!

2. L’oreal Infallible Foundation – Rs. 1250/-

Image

I wanted a foundation with decent coverage that looked natural and would stand the test of time! This seemed perfect so I picked it up!

3. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer – Rs. 475/-

Image

I was very confused between the Colorbar Full Coverage concealer or this one! I do not need to cover blemishes and acne spots since I make my skin behave so, I decided upon a highlighting concealer for my under eye area!

4. Faces Long Wear Eye Liner Pencil ( Metal Brown ) – Rs. 349/-

Image

I swear by this eye liner! Brown is less harsh than black. This must be my 4th or 5th repurchase. Enough said!

5. Nail Polishes :

Lakme 9 to 5 Long Wear Nail Color in Beige Suit – Rs. 200/-

Image

This polish goes fully pigmented in one swipe. It is perfect for all the working ladies who do not have enough time to pamper themselves but still want to look put together. It is a beautiful peachy nude shade.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color in 218 Crazy Berry – Rs. 75/-

Image

This is a beautiful berry shade that is perfect for the fall/winter time and will complement berry lips beautifully!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Color in 401 Constant Candy – Rs. 75/-

Image

During the fall/winter time, I usually gravitate towards dark nails or nude nails. This is one of those pale pink nude shades that look great with any outfit!

L’oreal Nail Polish in 409 – Rs. 225/-

Image

This is a deep wine, bordering on black. I love the pigmentation on these L’oreal nail polishes and the flat brush applicator is very user friendly!

6. Colorbar Emphaseyes Eye Blending Brush

Image Image

Because I wanted to try some of the Colorbar brushes…..

It is tapered on one side and flat on the other, unlike conventional blending brushes that are round and fluffy. It feels soft and easy to use. I am most likely going to use it for under eye concealing.

7. Freebie! Maybelline Manicure Kit.

Image

Image

Isnt it just so exciting when the store manager decides that you’ve burnt enough of your money to deserve a free gift? 😛

It looks like a sturdy, good quality manicure set that would be just perfect to travel with! 😀

This is it for my haul but lots more coming soon! So stay tuned.

October Favorites!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 4th November 2013

I hope you had a lovely and safe Diwali! 🙂

Where did October go? In fact where did 2013 go? Well, no point getting into that.

I know I have been MIA lately. October has a lot of birthdays and festival preparations! I have been incredibly busy and didn’t have any time to sit and type! Stay tuned for a lot of hauls because that is what I have been doing! 😛 and this is what the festival season is all about!

This is my first favorites post and I did have some items that I wanted to tell you about.

Image

1. Lakme CC Cream

I have extremely oily skin but since the weather is changing, my skin has been acting weird. It is oily on some days and dry on others. So, on those blah days, I turn to this wonderful product. It is neither too drying nor too emollient. It has a perfect natural finish and feels like nothing on the skin. Keep it mind that it doesn’t have a ton of coverage but yes, it is build able. I use my sunscreen and a primer underneath. If you’re dry skinned then you will definitely need some prepping before this. I am wishing other drugstore brands would come out with CC creams too because I haven’t had any success with BB creams!

2. Florelle Wet & Dry Blush – Marmorized

Image

I received this blush in my October Vellvette Bag

This is a beautifully pigmented blush! It is perfect for fall and will go with any dark lipstick. It gives a believable sheen to the cheeks without depositing chunky glitter!

3. Lotus UV Screen Matte Gel

This is my Holy Grail sunscreen and I never step out in the sun without wearing it. I do not use moisturizer when I use this as sunscreens are emollient enough. This product also acts like a primer. It makes the skin appear smoother and makeup adheres better when I wear this. It will not melt off of your face and it doesn’t flash back! It offers SPF 50 and PA+++ protection. What’s not to love?

4. Sleek iDivine Eye Shadow Palette – Storm

Image

I LOVE Sleek products! I really wish they’d come to India. However you can order their stuff online from their website.

This is my go to everyday palette! I take this palette with me even when I travel and I am set in the eye shadow department. The shades are gorgeous, amazingly pigmented, smooth to apply, easy to blend…. And I can go on and on.

Sleek Blush Palette In “Lace” Review

Sleek Pout Paints in “Port”, “Lava” and “Pin Up” Review

5. Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme – Sheer Cherry

Image

This is another product I received in my August Vellvette Bag

I am not much of a lip gloss person. I prefer lipsticks and lip crayon things.

But this is such a beautiful coral pink color that I want to wear it everyday! 😛 ANNDDDD it makes the lips look fuller. It is non sticky, has a brush applcator and I don’t feel like my hair will stick to my lips. So Yay! 😀

6. Faces Eye Liner in Metal Brown

This is a very creamy liner and glides on easily on the upper lash line. It doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area and stays on pretty well! You can also use it on the waterline.

7. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

It is pigmented and stays on the waterline. It doesn’t give me raccoon eyes and doesn’t irritate them either!

Image

8. Maybelline Color Tattoo

I know this is a hyped product and rightfully so! I have to admit I was using them wrong before and didn’t quite understand the hype around them but now I absolutely love them! You only need to apply the thinnest layer. They’re pigmented and extremely long wearing + waterproof. They’re available in a multitude of colors but since I am most comfortable with neutral eyes I have been using a bronze shade and a gold one a lot during this month!

Image

9. QVS Flat Top Kabuki Brush

I use this brush for everything! Buffing foundation, applying powder, applying blush, blending bronzer! I own two as of now. Flat top brushes are very versatile and can be used for a variety of things! When I am in a hurry this is a god send because I don’t have to find a blush brush and a powder brush and a bronzer brush!

10. Inglot 17TL brush

Angled brushes are also very versatile. They can be used to apply eye liner, fill in the eyebrows, apply concealer around the lips….

I use this one for my brows and it is perfect!

Image

So that is it for my monthly favorites!

I hope you enjoyed reading and found this helpful!

Lakme Radiance Compact Review, Photos!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 8th August 2013

What Lakme Claims :

  • Vitamin enriched foundation make up in compact powder format to give a radiant look.
  • Contains allantoin complex to soothe the skin.
  • Advanced Micromesh Technology gives a flawless matte finish.
  • Contains Vitamin E & C that moisturizes and protects your skin from pollution.

Image Image

My Thoughts :

I really like this powder. For the price it is unbeatable!

The packaging reminds me of old Lakme products ( before they came out with the 9-5 and absolute range )

Image

It is convenient with a mirror and a puff for handy touch ups.

Image

This is a compact that can be very easily found in the bags of school / college girls. This is the holy grail of many young girls. It is easy to apply and provides an instant matte finish to the skin.

I am in the shade “Natural Pearl”

Since my skin is greasier than burgers nothing can keep me matte for more than 2 hours. This does a good job of keeping me matte for that long. It is finely milled however it will cling to dry patches and it can look cakey if too much is put on.

Image

It can provide a beautiful natural look as it is finely milled but before touching up with this, it is essential to blot as this is a colored powder and not translucent. So packing it on over an oily face is not the best idea.

The GOOD :

1. Dirt cheap.

2. Amazing for the price.

3. Controls oil.

4. Provides a natural matte finish.

5. Has a tiny amount of coverage.

6. Very easily available

The COULD BE BETTER :

1. Talc smell that may bother some people

I don’t really have any other complaints with this powder, only that the number of shades available is 4!

Will I recommend and repurchase?

This is probably my 10th compact. I am never without this as it is cheap and works effectively! I would recommend it to everyone. Oily skin always benefits from powder and dry skin can use it sparingly to set their makeup!

Buy it Rs. 104 for 9 gm.

Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Review, Photos!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday 8th August 2013

What Lakme claims :

Feather-light finish easily blends into the skin keeping it healthy, hides pores & evens out skin tones. The new SPF 8 formula protects the skin from sun damage, leaving it peachy-soft & naturally flawless for up to 16 hours.

  • SPF 8
  • Feather light texture
  • Stays up to 16 hours

Image

Image

My Thoughts :

First of all, I want to take a moment to appreciate that Lakme has revamped their website! It looks better than ever and now you can buy products straight off of the website!

Coming to this foundation. I really like the packaging. It looks classy but its not the most convenient when it comes to usage of the product.

The upper half screws open to reveal the product in the lower half. The upper half has a mirror like silver finish whereas the lower half has a matte grey finish.

Image

Image

The foundation is super lightweight, it is not heavy at all. This foundation is by far the most easy to blend foundation I have used till date. It just disappears into the skin.

Image

I have tried using this product with every tool. Flat foundation brush, stippling brush, buffing brush, sponges and fingers and I have found the best way to apply it is using fingers. The warmth of the fingers helps blend in into the skin beautifully. Just dot the product onto your face where you need the most coverage and blend blend blend!

It also comes with a shade card telling how to apply the product

Image

Image

It leaves the skin feeling peachy soft as it claims and gives a beautiful soft matte look. I have extremely oily skin and this is one of my Holy Grail products. However you have to remember that this is a mousse and you cannot layer it over and over and it will cake up.

I prefer sheer to medium coverage for everyday so this is my go to foundation as it provides very believable looking coverage. It does look really natural.

Image

Image

I am in the shade 01 Ivory Fair.

It comes in 2 other shades :

02 Beige Honey

03 Golden Medium

I would say this foundation is best suited for people with oily to oily-combination skin. It you haven’t moisturized prior to putting this on it will stick to dry spots making them more prominent so be sure to apply your favorite moisturizer beforehand. However this is so silky smooth that I can see it working for normal skin and even dry skin ( over a heavy moisturizer )

It does have a very strong citrus scent that may bother some people but the scent disappears from the skin minutes after application.

On me it oxidizes a little because I just have extremely oily skin. If you have bearable oily / combination skin, that should not be a problem.

Due to SPF 8, it creates a very slight white cast in flash photography but if you apply a compact without SPF on top that will not be a problem.

Image

The GOOD :

1. Amazing texture

2. Blends beautifully

3. Great for combination / oily skinned beauties

4. Not too expensive

5. Controls oil to a certain extent

The COULD BE BETTER :

1. Limited shades that may not suit everyone

2. Strong scent that may bother some people

3. Can cake up if applied too much

4. The 16 hour claim is a bit much but then we rarely have to wear our makeup for 16 hours!

Will I recommend and repurchase?

Yes! This is one of my favorite foundations and it is lovely for oily combination skin types!

Buy it for Rs. 599 for 25 gms here :
