What’s In My November 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 14th December 2014

Hello everyone,

I know I’ve been a little MIA lately but I’m back now! My November Fab Bag came around the end of November or the beginning of December which was really late. I wasn’t happy with the late service but I just received my December bag today and I got a pleasant surprise! The post on that will be up really soon!

The November bag was glitsy and golden :

Fab1

The theme this month was “Power-Up”

Fab2

Let’s get to the products :

1. City Color Cheek Stain – Coral

Fab8

This is a great product for the winter time when your skin is dry. I have used this cheek stain and the color is beautiful. I like to top it off with a powder blush just to make it last extra long.

2. Wella Enrich Treatment Mask

Fab4

I like to try different hair treatment masks every now and then and I was looking for a new one to try after religiously using loving the Loreal Liss Ultime. So, this came at a good time. I am looking forward to using it and seeing how it fairs.

3. Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment

Fab6

My hair is chemically treated and any help from products to revive the texture is welcome. I haven’t been able to use it yet but I am excited to try something that will renew my hair.

4. Votre Invigorating Orange Hand & Foot Gel Creme

Fab3

The product name on the card says “scrub” but I received a creme. This product will come in handy for at home pedicures and manicures as well as moisturizing at night. I expect it to make my hands and feet feel soft and nourished,

5. Gulnar Handmade Soap

Fab5

I’m not a really a fan of coffee vanilla scents but I will use it just to use it. I would’ve liked to receive a different scent.

6. All Good Scents Perfume Essentials – Chic

Fab7

I loved this perfume. It smells feminine. fresh and woody. I have already ordered a full size!

Here is what I got overall :

Fab9

There were quite a few products in this month’s bag. My constant complaint with the fab bag remains that we don’t receive as much makeup as we would like. There is always a lot of focus on skin care and hair care but all that aside, the cheek stain and the perfume were star products for me. I’m looking forward to seeing some results from the hair treatment products as well. The soap was meh for me and the creme was just a fair add on.

What’s In My October 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 2nd November2014

Hello everyone!

My FabBag arrived yesterday which is quite late for prepaid customers! I am not happy with the late delivery, it throws the element of surprise right out the window when 100 other people post the pictures of what they received before you received yours.

Anyway, they had 2 varieties of bags this month, a shimmery blue one and a silver one. I got the silver one!

Fab13

This was a Diwali themed bag and I got mine well after Diwali!

Fab11

Lets start with what I received :

1. SeaSoul HD Finish CC Cream with SPF 20 – Light

Fab12

I am happy to try this product. The shade is a little dark for me but maybe I can make it work with a lighter powder on top. I have only swatched it on hand yet and it blends decently. Let’s see how it fairs on the face!

2. Just Herbs 6 Step Organic Skincare Kit 1

Fab15

This is the product I am most excited about. Since I have oily skin, it is hard to find a great moisturizer that won’t make me look greasy. I am usually not excited by skincare but this kit has so much to try and explore! I have already tried the Daily Beauty Gel and Suncreen Gel and I am really happy with them! They have a normal/dry version of this kit as well.

3. The Nature’s Co Rosemary Hibiscus Hair Mask

Fab14

I don’t have a lot to say about this product. I usually use deep conditioning hair masks in the shower and oils for massage. So, maybe something like this would be interesting to try. It comes in a powder form and I’m assuming you have to mix it with water or milk to form a runny paste and apply it on your hair and scalp.

Acuvue 2 – Week Trial Pack

Fab10

If you’re short sighted like this girl over here and you wear contacts, you know the struggle! You always wish your contacts felt more comfortable and soft. I usually wear colored lenses but when I wear clear ones, I wear Bausch and Lomb SoftLens. After 8 hours, my eyes get slightly dry and I want to take them off. I was really excited to try Acuvue Lenses. I wore these yesterday for about 6-7 hours and they felt like nothing in my eyes. They were soft and easy to wear. Next time I am in the market for new lenses, I am definitely getting Acuvue!

Here is what I got overall :

FabBagSeptember

This month’s bag was a bag of new discoveries for me! I would always prefer to receive more makeup like instead of the hair mask they could’ve sent a makeup item. I am excited to try the rest of my Just Herbs kit and the CC Cream on my face. The Acuvue lenses were a win for me!

Side Note – I was going through all my Fab Bags and I realized I have collected 14 over the months! Here is a picture :

Frizzy Hair Remedies!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 5th September 2013

Hello everyone! I am sorry I have been gone for a few days. I was busy with the Premia India Runway Week. It was amazing and a post on that will be coming soon 🙂

Our hair is our crowning glory yet it suffers so much! Monsoons, sun damage, heat styling, overload of products etc! With the humidity, my hair usually poofs up like Monica’s in Friends!

Frizzy hair is caused when the moisture and natural oils in hair is removed. This leaves hair strands coarse and dry making it easier for hair to look frizzy. Many things can cause frizzy hair. You can genetically be born with coarse hair, which lacks protein. Although, it is more likely that it is something you are doing to your hair that is causing it to be frizzy.

So, I will tell you about a few products I use and also give you a few tips on how you can make your hair more manageable..

1. CLEANSING :

Start with a good Shampoo/Conditioner routine. For frizzy hair, you’ll want Shampoos and Conditioners that say “Smoothing”, “Moisturizing” etc. Stay away from Anti-Dandruff shampoos and the ones that say “Deep Cleaning”. They will dry out your hair further!

I use the L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Range

Image

I do really like the L’Oreal professional range. They have a solution to most hair problems but this one in particular is my favorite. This is an Oil Incell technology that makes my hair extremely smooth. Just after using the shampoo, my hair feels instantly softer. The shampoo and the serum smell like a dream but the masque is a little different!

If your hair is unmanageable and frizzy, I do recommend this range, even if your hair is not chemically treated.

2. Oiling :

It is extremely important to oil your hair. Oiling and massaging your hair will restore lost moisture and improve blood circulation to your head. Many types of oils are available in the market.

Image

3. Serums :

Serums are a quick and easy way to smooth out your hair and add shine. They will make combing out your hair easier and decrease knots and breakage.

Image

You can also use dry oils as serums. But, remember to use a tiny amount so that your hair doesn’t look like an oily mess! And also use serums on the ends and not near the root.

Image

4. Heat Protection :

You should always use a heat protection product in your hair. Even if you’re not heat styling because it helps reduce sun damage. It creates a layer around your hair that does not let the heat penetrate deep into the hair and make it dry and dull. It will also protect your hair against environmental damage.

Image

5. Deep Conditioning :

It is important to deep condition your hair after a week of torment. Your hair needs Protein and Keratin to recover. Deep conditioners / Hair masks will provide that intense hydration.

Image

It is not advisable to use them every time you wash your hair as too much Protein and Keratin can break your hair. So don’t overdo it, once a week is enough.

Image

6. Topical Treatments :

You can also use topical treatments to help hair growth and repair damage. There are many forms available in the market like creams, shots etc.

Image

7. Don’t wash your hair everyday. If you have really short hair, then it is alright. With long hair, it takes more time for the natural oils to travel from the root to rest of the hair. Your hair needs the natural oil to maintain balance and health. If your hair gets really greasy then you can use dry shampoo on it or a tiny dab of baby powder does the same trick. Just rub a tiny amount in your hands and massage through the roots. This will take care of any greasiness, that unwashed hair smell and also instantly add more volume. Make sure you comb afterwards to avoid any white residue from peeking through your roots.

8. Don’t overload products in your hair because they will lead to product build up making it necessary to wash your hair more often.

9. Avoid heat styling everyday. Let your hair air dry naturally. If you have to blow dry at all costs, wait till your hair is about 60%-70% dry and then use your blow dryer on low heat. Remember to use a heat protectant.

10. Embrace your natural texture. Each and every one of you is beautiful in your way. We should be happy with what we have. Curling, straightening, blow drying is leading to irreparable damage.

11. Go for regular trims. Split ends are irreversible and just have to be chopped off. I know its hard but you need to get rid of them to keep your hair looking healthy.

12. Never brush your hair when it is wet. Your hair is the weakest when it is wet and brushing it will decrease elasticity and break the hair. Instead, use a serum and a wide tooth comb. It is advisable to wait till your hair is a little dry before you start fiddling with it anyway. To avoid knots you can finger comb your hair when using conditioner or use a wide tooth comb with conditioner in the shower. To avoid knots in the morning when you wake up, you can sleep with braids so you don’t wake up to a tangled mess.

13. Sleep on a silk pillowcase. It will make your hair softer, reduce frizz and friction and make your hair more manageable.

14. Taking vitamins will help in hair growth and overall health of the hair. Make sure to check with doctor before popping any pills though.

15. Wear a hat or a scarf over your head when going out in the sun to prevent sun damage.

16. What you put inside is going to show on the outside. Eating a diet rich in Protein, Iron, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Vitamins will make your hair much better overall. Soy, Eggs, Cauliflower, Almonds, Dals, Salmon, Walnuts, Oysters, Sweet Potatoes, Lentils, Spinach, Yogurt, Berries, Mangoes, Cucumbers, Apricots, Beans, Oats, Cashews, Chicken, Beef, Carrots, Milk and Broccoli are all great hair foods.

After all that our hair goes through, we should learn to take regular care of it.. Our hair frames our face and it is important to make it look its best and healthiest.

I hope you enjoyed reading. A DIY post on hair care will be coming soon! 🙂
