What’s In My April 2015 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 3rd April 2015

Hello everyone!

Fab Bags have started coming out really early in the month now, which is great! I got mine today and I cannot wait to share the whole review with you! This is what it looks like :

F1

I love this month’s bag. It is zebra printed, spacious and will be perfect to carry around as a makeup bag in your purse.

The theme this month was “Nine to 9”

F2

Here’s what I got :

1. Malavara Shower Gel And Body Lotion Duo – Lime Vetiver

F5

The lotion is great to throw in your handbag for on-the-go moisture touch-ups but I’m a little iffy of the lime scent. The shower gel is also great for travelling and I love the little bottles that can be reused! Over the months, I have received A LOT of lotions and moisturisers from Fab Bag and I just wish they would focus more on makeup rather than lime scented bath stuff! Both of them are deluxe sample sized.

2. City Color Blush Quad – Coral

F3

F4

This blush is my favourite thing from the whole bunch! It comes out a gorgeous pink on the cheeks with very little sheen so it is perfect for the daytime. It makes me look like I just came back from a run in the sun and looks extremely natural. It is a full sized product.

3. Chambor Body Mist – Mystique Magnolia

F7

This smells EXACTLY like Magnolia flowers. Personally, I am not a fan of the night flower scent so it is a bit too reminiscent of that for me. If you like that sort of smell, then this will be a great mist for you. Also, this deluxe sample sized spray is perfect to throw in your tiny clutches for fragrance touch ups!

4. Denman Volumizing Hair Brush

F8

I love that this hair brush is anti-static. I am not sure if it volumizes, if at all. But, it’s a decent size and does the job without tugging or pulling.

Here is what I got overall :

F9

This month’s Fab Bag was well worth the price you pay for one bag. You get two full sized products and three deluxe sample sized products. The lime scented shower gel and lotion are not something too exciting for me. I continue to hope they’ll tilt a little more towards makeup rather than moisturisers and bath stuff. The blush was a pleasant surprise and I’m happy with the hair brush too. The fragrance mist would’ve been perfect had I been a fan of the Magnolia scent but I’m not.

What’s In My March 2015 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 13th March 2015

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag arrived on Wednesday and it was a bag full of surprises! Some great and some average. It was a little pink pouch with black text printed on it. Not particularly my favorite bag ever but, better than the Valentine’s one for sure!

This is what it looks like :

F1

The theme this month was “Makeup For Difference”

F2

So, let’s see what I got :

1. Palladio Herbal Lipstick – Rosey Plum

F6

Fab Bag has sent me three frosty lipsticks now and I’m really not a glittery lipstick lover. The shade is very rosey oxblood that would look great on slightly mature women with wheatish skin tone. I prefer my lips to be bright, bold and matte. So, this is definitely going to be gifted to an aunt.

F7

2. Soultree Kajal – Grey Glow

F5

This is a soft natural kohl that would be perfect for creating smokey looks since it can be easily be smudged. I wouldn’t count on the lasting power of it though. Grey kohls tend to make me look weak and tired so I usually skip on them and opt for my trusty blacks and browns but it is always great to have smudge-able soft kajals in various colours.

3. Inveda BB Cream – Fair

F3

This is a sweet little handy BB cream to throw in your overnight bag. It gives sheer coverage with a natural finish and would be great to use on days when you have no time for a full face of makeup and you just want to look fresh and dewy.

4. Sebastian Volupt Spray

F4

I have always wanted to try Sebastian styling products but never got around to it. I have used a shampoo and conditioner from their professional range and really liked those so it was a pleasant surprise to receive something from this brand. Also, I have fine hair so a volumising spray is always welcome!

5. Fashionography Bracelet – With Love

F8

I was looking for a dainty arrow bracelet and Fab Bag read my mind! This is a beautiful, delicate bracelet with a little heart charm that is perfect to wear during the day as well as night.

Here is what I got overall :

F9

I am satisfied with the products in this month’s bag as the combined value well exceeds the amount you pay for a single bag. The lipstick is going to an aunt and the kohl is something I would use only rarely. Other than those, I’m excited to try the Sebastian spray and the BB cream. The bracelet was also a very cute add-on.

Frizzy Hair Remedies!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 5th September 2013

Hello everyone! I am sorry I have been gone for a few days. I was busy with the Premia India Runway Week. It was amazing and a post on that will be coming soon 🙂

Our hair is our crowning glory yet it suffers so much! Monsoons, sun damage, heat styling, overload of products etc! With the humidity, my hair usually poofs up like Monica’s in Friends!

Frizzy hair is caused when the moisture and natural oils in hair is removed. This leaves hair strands coarse and dry making it easier for hair to look frizzy. Many things can cause frizzy hair. You can genetically be born with coarse hair, which lacks protein. Although, it is more likely that it is something you are doing to your hair that is causing it to be frizzy.

So, I will tell you about a few products I use and also give you a few tips on how you can make your hair more manageable..

1. CLEANSING :

Start with a good Shampoo/Conditioner routine. For frizzy hair, you’ll want Shampoos and Conditioners that say “Smoothing”, “Moisturizing” etc. Stay away from Anti-Dandruff shampoos and the ones that say “Deep Cleaning”. They will dry out your hair further!

I use the L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Range

Image

I do really like the L’Oreal professional range. They have a solution to most hair problems but this one in particular is my favorite. This is an Oil Incell technology that makes my hair extremely smooth. Just after using the shampoo, my hair feels instantly softer. The shampoo and the serum smell like a dream but the masque is a little different!

If your hair is unmanageable and frizzy, I do recommend this range, even if your hair is not chemically treated.

2. Oiling :

It is extremely important to oil your hair. Oiling and massaging your hair will restore lost moisture and improve blood circulation to your head. Many types of oils are available in the market.

Image

3. Serums :

Serums are a quick and easy way to smooth out your hair and add shine. They will make combing out your hair easier and decrease knots and breakage.

Image

You can also use dry oils as serums. But, remember to use a tiny amount so that your hair doesn’t look like an oily mess! And also use serums on the ends and not near the root.

Image

4. Heat Protection :

You should always use a heat protection product in your hair. Even if you’re not heat styling because it helps reduce sun damage. It creates a layer around your hair that does not let the heat penetrate deep into the hair and make it dry and dull. It will also protect your hair against environmental damage.

Image

5. Deep Conditioning :

It is important to deep condition your hair after a week of torment. Your hair needs Protein and Keratin to recover. Deep conditioners / Hair masks will provide that intense hydration.

Image

It is not advisable to use them every time you wash your hair as too much Protein and Keratin can break your hair. So don’t overdo it, once a week is enough.

Image

6. Topical Treatments :

You can also use topical treatments to help hair growth and repair damage. There are many forms available in the market like creams, shots etc.

Image

7. Don’t wash your hair everyday. If you have really short hair, then it is alright. With long hair, it takes more time for the natural oils to travel from the root to rest of the hair. Your hair needs the natural oil to maintain balance and health. If your hair gets really greasy then you can use dry shampoo on it or a tiny dab of baby powder does the same trick. Just rub a tiny amount in your hands and massage through the roots. This will take care of any greasiness, that unwashed hair smell and also instantly add more volume. Make sure you comb afterwards to avoid any white residue from peeking through your roots.

8. Don’t overload products in your hair because they will lead to product build up making it necessary to wash your hair more often.

9. Avoid heat styling everyday. Let your hair air dry naturally. If you have to blow dry at all costs, wait till your hair is about 60%-70% dry and then use your blow dryer on low heat. Remember to use a heat protectant.

10. Embrace your natural texture. Each and every one of you is beautiful in your way. We should be happy with what we have. Curling, straightening, blow drying is leading to irreparable damage.

11. Go for regular trims. Split ends are irreversible and just have to be chopped off. I know its hard but you need to get rid of them to keep your hair looking healthy.

12. Never brush your hair when it is wet. Your hair is the weakest when it is wet and brushing it will decrease elasticity and break the hair. Instead, use a serum and a wide tooth comb. It is advisable to wait till your hair is a little dry before you start fiddling with it anyway. To avoid knots you can finger comb your hair when using conditioner or use a wide tooth comb with conditioner in the shower. To avoid knots in the morning when you wake up, you can sleep with braids so you don’t wake up to a tangled mess.

13. Sleep on a silk pillowcase. It will make your hair softer, reduce frizz and friction and make your hair more manageable.

14. Taking vitamins will help in hair growth and overall health of the hair. Make sure to check with doctor before popping any pills though.

15. Wear a hat or a scarf over your head when going out in the sun to prevent sun damage.

16. What you put inside is going to show on the outside. Eating a diet rich in Protein, Iron, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Vitamins will make your hair much better overall. Soy, Eggs, Cauliflower, Almonds, Dals, Salmon, Walnuts, Oysters, Sweet Potatoes, Lentils, Spinach, Yogurt, Berries, Mangoes, Cucumbers, Apricots, Beans, Oats, Cashews, Chicken, Beef, Carrots, Milk and Broccoli are all great hair foods.

After all that our hair goes through, we should learn to take regular care of it.. Our hair frames our face and it is important to make it look its best and healthiest.

I hope you enjoyed reading. A DIY post on hair care will be coming soon! 🙂
