Jabong Beauty Blogger Meet!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 26th June 2015

Hello everyone!

J6

I was invited to the Jabong beauty blogger meet held on the 24th, focusing on newly launched brands on the e-commerce giant. The brands in question are Makeup Revolution London and Roman Beauty.

J4

We were introduced to the remarkable brands and got to experience the formulations and the workings first-hand.

J7

Roman beauty is a hair styling brand that offers epic, automatic products like hair straighteners and curling irons delivering fast and lust-worthy results. We had a gala time exploring various tools and testing them out for ourselves!

J2

But admittedly, the most exciting and fun part was of course, makeup! I am highly impressed with the quality of products from Makeup Revolution and will definitely indulge in a few palettes myself. I felt that the star products of this brand are it’s wide ranging eye shadow palettes with something for everyone to choose from.

J5

J3

J1

The opacity and pigmentation of these shadows is beyond fantastic and the price that you pay for them is highly justified. I suggest you get your hands on one of them soon to try them out for yourself. Many palettes in this collection are great, inexpensive dupes for the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

After the grand introduction to these products, we proceeded to enjoy a lovely meal with fellow bloggers.

I hope you enjoyed reading!

P.S. An outfit post will be up very soon showing you what I wore to this meet. So, stay tuned!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup (Foundation) Review

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 17th February 2015

Won’t change color, smudge or come off on clothes. Feels lightweight and comfortable. Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

Estee1

BENEFITS

Long-Wear: 15 Hours. Medium coverage. Our #1 makeup.

COVERAGE

  • Oil-Free
  • Dermatologist-Tested
  • Non-Acnegenic; Won’t clog pores
  • Fragrance-Free

Estee2

Price – Rs. 2750/- at Sephora India

Estee3 Estee4

My Thoughts :

I had wanted this foundation for a long time after reading tons of amazing reviews on it. Since my skin type is oily, this seemed like the perfect choice for a full coverage matte look. I am in the shade “1W2 Sand” which matches me perfectly! There are a whopping 24 shades to choose from so you’re sure to find your match. It comes in a delicate glass bottle packaging without a pump, which is a major let down because getting the product out carefully without making a mess is next to impossible. If you want to use a pump with it, you can buy an independent one from MAC.

Estee6

It has a thick fluid consistency and sets quickly once applied to the face. This cannot be layered after it has set because it has a matte finish and can end up looking cakey. To achieve complete coverage, apply a thin layer and build it up fast as per needed. I suggest working on one part of the face at a time. After putting this on, I only apply a tiny touch of brightening concealer under my eyes and set everything with a light powder. Since I’m blessed with naturally spot-free skin, I do not need to cover much but, I’m highly impressed by how even-toned and flawless it makes the skin look. It does not feel heavy but because it is such a full coverage foundation, it is definitely not going to look natural and skin-like in the harsh sunlight. It is best suited for the night time, parties or indoor events.

Estee7

The lasting power of this foundation is commendable. It looks fresh throughout the day and doesn’t move around or transfer anywhere. Since I have oily skin, I usually need to blot my face with powder once or twice a day. I have had days when I’ve worn this at 9 in the morning, went to work and attended a late night party knowing that my skin is looking its best. This has quickly become my go-to foundation when I know I’m gonna be gone for a long time and need my skin to be perfect.

Estee8

Despite the SPF, it does not give you a white cast and looks wonderful in pictures. One thing to keep in mind is that this foundation is better suited for people with oily/combination skin type. If you have dry skin, make sure you prep with a heavy duty moisturizer beforehand. Using a primer will enhance the already impressive longevity of this product. I have found that the best way to apply this foundation is by using a wet makeup sponge or a wet brush. When I don’t have time to bounce a sponge around on my face, I like spraying a kabuki brush with makeup setting spray or MAC Fix Plus and applying a fine layer on the face. I suggest everyone with oily/combination skin to invest in a great foundation that will last throughout the day and give you the coverage that you want, while controlling sebum production. It is definitely worth the high price and I will repurchase it once I’m about to finish this bottle.

Rating – 4.8/5 This is how it looks on me :

Estee9

The Good :

1. Amazingly full coverage.

2. Makes the skin look perfect.

3. No white cast.

4. Commendable lasting power.

5. Doesn’t oxidize.

6. Easily available.

7. Controls oil and sebum.

8. Doesn’t break me out.

9. Waterproof.

10. Comes in 24 shades with various undertones.

The Could Be Better :

1. Not travel friendly due to the delicate glass packaging which is prone to breakage.

2. No pump.

3. Hefty price tag.

4. Will look cakey in the sunlight.

Side Note – I have a shoe haul, a Sarojini Nagar haul and an online shopping haul coming up! 😀

What’s In My December 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 15th December 2014

Hello everyone,

As promised, I’m back with the December post! This month’s bag was beyond exciting for me! This is why :FabMag

I won in the “Best Party Look” category! Thank you to FabBag for featuring me in their Fab Post magazine! <Does Happy Dance>

Here is what the December bag looks like :Fab7

This was a Christmas themed bag!

Fab1

Let’s get to the products inside :

1. Deborah Milano Rossetto Atomic Red Lipstick – 05

Fab4

This lipstick is moderately pigmented and has a sheen finish.I am more of a matte lipstick girl though. I have received three red lipsticks from Fab Bag including this one and two of them are glossy. But anyway, who can have enough red lipsticks?

2. Tattva Body Butter – Peach Grapes & Cherry Blossom & Lip Scrub – Vanilla Cinnamon

Fab3

The body butter has a very mixed scent of various fruits. I have lost count of the number of body butters that I have received over time from Fab Bag. It came with a sugar lip scrub which I am really excited about. They say we can just lick it off after it melts. It contains cinnamon so I’m hoping to see some extra smooth plump lips!

3. Kronokare Itsy Bitsy Massage Addict Kit – Cooling & Detoxifying

Fab2

This was one of the not so exciting products for me. They have previously sent me a ginger scented shower gel and body lotion combo which I dint like because of the smell. The cooling massage oil is probably not going to be of much use right now because we’re in the middle of winter but I can use the detoxifying one.

4. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – 52 Vanilla

Fab6

I have heard so many good things about this foundation and have been wanting to try it for a long time but never got around to it. Its like they heard me! And they matched me perfectly! This has to be my favorite product of the bunch. I will definitely get the full size of it if I like it.

5. IndieEco Luxury Handcrafted Candle – Lemongrass

Fab5

I love scented candles! They’re romantic and they enhance the atmosphere. This one smells like fresh lemongrass which is a tad too citrusy for the bedroom but it will be a great refreshing bathroom scent.

Here is what I got overall :

Fab9

This month’s Fab Bag held a very pleasant surprise for me since I was featured in the magazine. As for the actual products, the most exciting ones are the foundation and the lip scrub. I am happy with the lipstick and the candle too. The travel size body butter will come in handy for on-the-go moisturization. The massage oils were not so exciting. I’m glad they included at least two makeup products and it was not loaded with only skin and hair care.

What’s In My October 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 2nd November2014

Hello everyone!

My FabBag arrived yesterday which is quite late for prepaid customers! I am not happy with the late delivery, it throws the element of surprise right out the window when 100 other people post the pictures of what they received before you received yours.

Anyway, they had 2 varieties of bags this month, a shimmery blue one and a silver one. I got the silver one!

Fab13

This was a Diwali themed bag and I got mine well after Diwali!

Fab11

Lets start with what I received :

1. SeaSoul HD Finish CC Cream with SPF 20 – Light

Fab12

I am happy to try this product. The shade is a little dark for me but maybe I can make it work with a lighter powder on top. I have only swatched it on hand yet and it blends decently. Let’s see how it fairs on the face!

2. Just Herbs 6 Step Organic Skincare Kit 1

Fab15

This is the product I am most excited about. Since I have oily skin, it is hard to find a great moisturizer that won’t make me look greasy. I am usually not excited by skincare but this kit has so much to try and explore! I have already tried the Daily Beauty Gel and Suncreen Gel and I am really happy with them! They have a normal/dry version of this kit as well.

3. The Nature’s Co Rosemary Hibiscus Hair Mask

Fab14

I don’t have a lot to say about this product. I usually use deep conditioning hair masks in the shower and oils for massage. So, maybe something like this would be interesting to try. It comes in a powder form and I’m assuming you have to mix it with water or milk to form a runny paste and apply it on your hair and scalp.

Acuvue 2 – Week Trial Pack

Fab10

If you’re short sighted like this girl over here and you wear contacts, you know the struggle! You always wish your contacts felt more comfortable and soft. I usually wear colored lenses but when I wear clear ones, I wear Bausch and Lomb SoftLens. After 8 hours, my eyes get slightly dry and I want to take them off. I was really excited to try Acuvue Lenses. I wore these yesterday for about 6-7 hours and they felt like nothing in my eyes. They were soft and easy to wear. Next time I am in the market for new lenses, I am definitely getting Acuvue!

Here is what I got overall :

FabBagSeptember

This month’s bag was a bag of new discoveries for me! I would always prefer to receive more makeup like instead of the hair mask they could’ve sent a makeup item. I am excited to try the rest of my Just Herbs kit and the CC Cream on my face. The Acuvue lenses were a win for me!

Side Note – I was going through all my Fab Bags and I realized I have collected 14 over the months! Here is a picture :

My Go To Makeup Looks!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 7th October 2014

Hello everyone!

I suddenly realized that I’ve never done a post on my everyday makeup!

I want to show you my basic everyday makeup and the look that I gravitate towards the most. This is the makeup that will look great on almost everyone and it is easy to achieve. It makes me look polished and put together and I can finish my makeup in just 20 minutes when I know this is what I’m going to be doing! I have been sticking to this look since about a year now and I haven’t felt the need to change it because it looks amazing and so many people have complimented me on it 🙂

This is also the look that you’ll find me wearing in most of my outfit posts because it looks great with everything. I do change my lipstick and blushes every so often when I want a different shade. Sometimes, I’ll use a colored eyeliner as well but for the most part, this is how I prefer my makeup to look like on an everyday basis :

M1

Winged eyeliner and nude lips is such a great look for everyone. Winging your eyeliner perfectly will take some practice but don’t worry it will come!

Here are all the steps involved to achieve this look and some of my favorite products that I use every time I put makeup on :

1. I like to start by priming my face with either The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer or The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It. Sometimes I use both of them together, I don’t necessarily have large pores but I have oily skin and I like to prolong the wear of my makeup as much as I can! During the winter time when my skin is not as oily, I like to apply MAC Strobe Cream on my cheeks for added glow. I usually like to wait a minute before I put foundation on to let the primer set.

2. After priming, I buff a thin layer of foundation all over my face with a buffing brush or fingers. I always make sure to apply a really thin layer because I don’t like to look cakey! Some of my favorites are the Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse for really oily days, Benefit Hello Flawless Brightening Makeup, Loreal Infallible 16Hr Foundation, Lakme CC Cream! I like foundations that are meant for normal skin and don’t have a very matte finish because I like to look glowy and healthy.

3. Most of the foundations that I like have sheer to medium coverage and I prefer that because I don’t want heavy coverage all over my face. I use the Clinique Even Better Concealer in the shade Orange Brightener under my eyes. It is an orange concealer that helps to cancel out any purple/blue undertones under the eyes. Over that I’ll use the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I also use to spot conceal if I have a breakout. To highlight my cheek bones, upper lip area, under the eyebrows and forehead I apply a thin layer of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.

M8

4. If I want my blush to last extra long, I’ll apply a cream blush on my cheeks but on most days I just go ahead and set the whole face with my all time favorite powder, Chambor Silver Shadow Compact or Benefit Hello Flawless Powder. If I want a sheer-er compact I’ll use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder or Maybelline Clear Glow Compact.

5. Then, I fill in my eyebrows with Inglot Matte Shadow in the shade 329 and set them with The Body Shop Eyebrow Gel or clear mascara. If I need to get my eyebrows done and they’re very unruly then I’ll use an eyebrow wax from Inglot before filling with powder.

6. Moving onto eyes, I draw a fine line on my top lashline with a black kohl liner, mainly Maybelline Colossal Kajal or Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. Sometimes I’ll use a brown like Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in the shade Cocoa Bar or Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil in Metal Brown. (Other times I may use a green, purple, grey or blue depending on my mood but on most days its either black or brown.) I like to smudge the line with a pencil brush. Then, I line both my top and bottom waterline with the same shade and smudge it a little on the lower lash line with a pencil brush. Then I start with a liquid/gel eyeliner like Maybelline Eye Liner Pen or the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black and trace along the top lash line creating a wing at the end. I then curl my lashes with the Colorbar Eyelash Curler and use my Holy Grail mascara, Maybelline the Falsies on both my top and bottom lashes. I like to apply a second coat of mascara with Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express and this combination gives me long voluminous lashes every time!

M5

7. I like to define my cheekbones for which I contour my face slightly with Sephora Powder Foundation in the shade Deep and lightly dust some on the sides of my forehead and under my jawline as well. I use a different shade of blush almost everyday but my favorite is Sleek Lace Palette. After blush, I’ll use a highlight from the Sleek Face Form Kit on my cheekbones, under the eyebrows, on my cupid’s bow and in the center on my forehead.

8. Like blush, my lip color changes everyday. But, one combination I keep coming back to is Nyx Lip Liner in Natural and Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade Red Chaos on top! This is the most beautiful peachy nude combination for my complexion and I prefer matte lips over glossy lips!

P.S. I like to use a makeup setting spray just before I head out to help my makeup last extra long!

I don’t use eye shadows on an everyday basis but on some days I like to get fancy! 😛

M2

And sometimes I’ll wear a matte red lip which to me, is the most beautiful look in the world! But who wears red lips everyday?

M6

When I feel like going all out, I’ll combine smokey eyes with red lips!

M4

Sometimes I’ll play with eyeliner and do something like this :

M3

I had a lot of fun compiling this and sharing my favorite looks with you all! I know this can be a lot of makeup for those of you who only wear Kajal on a day to day basis but I absolutely love makeup! Also, this may seem like a lot of steps but it only takes me around 20 minutes to complete my whole face. I hope you found this post helpful and learnt something new!

What’s In My September 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 22nd September 2014

Hello everyone!

FabBag celebrated it’s second anniversary in September and my bag arrived yesterday. This was one of the best bags they’ve sent out and I’m very excited! 😀 So, lets begin.

This is what the bag looks like this month :

Fab5

I love animal print! The bag is so pretty!

Fab2

Here is what I received in my bag :

1. Bellapierre Mineral Foundation – Ivory

Fab4

I am mega glad that they sent me the right shade! I am usually the lightest shade in most Indian base products and to receive a product that is too dark is very frustrating. It is such a gamble to send someone you’ve never seen in person a base product. This is a 4 gm sample which is quite generous for a sample size and costs Rs. 2500/- The full size costs Rs. 4,900/- The product contains an SPF of 15 so it is probably not the best for flash photography. I am very excited to try it.

2. SkinYoga Green Tea Face Mask

Fab3

This is a 5.6 gm sample that will last about three uses. It is supposed to be mixed with water to form a paste and then used as a face mask. This is meant to control acne and guard skin against the Sun. Thankfully, I don’t suffer from acne but I would still like to try this product for clearer pores and smoother skin. The full size is 50 gms and retails for Rs.1,750/- Also, the bottle is very cute 😛

3. Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle With Gift

Fab1

I have high hopes from this product! If you don’t take your vitamins regularly, you might suffer from brittle nails and this should take care of that. The gift is a small travel sized manicure kit that is so handy to take anywhere. This is the full sized version and costs Rs. 875/-

BONUS – Trendy Printed Scarf + FAB POST Magazine

Fab6 Fab8

They sent out scarves with various prints on them. I got a Marilyn Monroe print scarf. I would’ve preferred to receive some other print but eh, I am not much of a scarf wearer anyway! The magazine contains details of each product that we received and many others.

Here is what I received overall :

Fab7

I am so happy with this month’s bag. They sent out great products that we will be excited to use. Well done to FabBag and a very happy second anniversary! 🙂

Product Empties + Mini Reviews!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 31st August 2014

Hello everyone!

Today I’ll be showing you all the products I love and have used up recently.

1. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact in the shade “RR2 Rose Pale”

E1

This is an amazing product and has been in my makeup bag for about 4 years now. I always have a back up of this. It has a little coverage, keeps me matte for a long time, doesn’t look cakey and is great for touch ups. The shade is a perfect match for me and it comes with a refill. What more could I want?

2. Lakme Radiance Compact in the shade “Pearl”

Almost every college girl has used this at some point since this is easily accessible and inexpensive. I remember going through a ton of these during my high school / college days! This has been in my kit for a long time. I do not use this as much now since I’ve moved on to better powders but I finally finished it! I probably will not repurchase this but it is a great little handy product for touch ups for people on a budget.

3. Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara

E3

I have been a fan of this mascara for almost 2 years now. I am yet to find a mascara that lengthens my lashes better than this does. I use a combination of two mascaras whenever I apply makeup, a lengthening one and a volumizing one. I do have fairly long lashes to begin with but this gives me incredible length with two coats, doesn’t clump and lasts throughout the day! I am currently using a new one and I will continue to repurchase this until I find a magical mascara that gives me unbelievable lashes! 😛

4. Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara

This is the volumizing mascara in my routine. It separates each lash while coating it with blackness and gives the look of extremely voluminous lashes. Maybelline mascaras tend to be a bit more wet than the rest but that works well for me as I like my mascaras to be on the wetter side. The combination of these two mascaras gives me the best possible results yet and I’ve received a lot of compliments on my lashes when I’m wearing these two together. I am using a new one of this too.

5. Maybelline The Hyper Curl Volume Express Mascara

On its own, this mascara is great for those natural days when you don’t want extreme volume or length but just want your face to look more awake and your lashes to appear more black. I hardly have those days when I wake up thinking I want natural lashes today, but this works well when I’m layering it with other ones. I am not sure if I’ll repurchase this.

6. The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It

E2

I do not have large pores but this makes my skin appear slightly smoother and helps my foundation go on more evenly. It also increases the lasting power of my makeup and instantly mattifies the skin upon application. I am currently using a back up of this.

THE BODY SHOP COMPLETE STRAWBERRY RANGE REVIEW

7. Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50

Lotus Herbals’ sunscreens are great for oily skin. This almost works like a primer and feels fresh and matte. This is my favorite sunscreen and I always have a backup of this. I haven’t found a better sunscreen that works so well for oily skin.

8. The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer

I love this product! I use it to spot treat a blemish or redness. It even works well as a primer and refines pores. I can’t say if it helps minimize the size of pores because I do not have large pores but I do love using it as a skincare product and sometimes under makeup. I am using a back up of this and I will repurchase it once it finishes.

9. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in the shade “175 Sugar Pink”

E5

Finishing a lipstick is a big deal for me as I have a ton of them! This is a lovely peachy pink nude shade that is perfect for everyday. I may not repurchase this anytime soon since I have so many similar shades in my collection that I want to go through first. Read my review on CHAMBOR POWDER MATTE LIPSTICKS

10. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade “Ivory”

This is probably the fourth one that I have finished. It works really well to hide under eye darkness. I also use it to highlight certain areas of my face. It is handy for touch ups and you only need a small amount. I love that it has medium coverage which makes it buildable. It is a great inexpensive dupe for YSL Touche Eclat. I already have one that I am presently using and I will definitely repurchase it.

11. Maybelline The Colossal Kajal

E4

This is a makeup staple for many girls out there and happens to be mine too. It is very black, easy to apply and stays on for a fair amount of time. I love that this is great value for money. ( Tip – If you find that your kajal smudges throughout the day, smudge it a little beforehand with an ear bud/pencil brush/smudge brush as soon as you apply it. Then set it with a matte black powder eye shadow. Your kajal should stay in place the entire day! )

12. Faces Eye Pencil in the shade “Metal Brown”

I love using brown eyeliner pencil around the eyes to define the shape and then use black in the inner rims of my eyes and on top very close to the lashline. I find that brown is not harsh at all and this one has little shimmer particles. It happens to be very creamy and doesn’t tug on the eyes. A few seconds after application, it sets and then stays for a long time so if you want to smudge it, you have to work very quickly.. I have gone through atleast 5-6 of these and I will repurchase this soon once I finish other liners.

13. Colorbar iGlide Eye Pencil in the shade “Cocobar”

This is an amazing eye pencil. It glides on smoothly without tugging the slightest bit on the delicate eyelid area. The dark brown color is exactly what I wanted. It stays on for a long time without disappearing and is completely matte. I will definitely repurchase this once I finish some of my other brown liners. In fact, I would like to try more shades of this.
