Jabong Beauty Blogger Meet!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 26th June 2015

Hello everyone!

J6

I was invited to the Jabong beauty blogger meet held on the 24th, focusing on newly launched brands on the e-commerce giant. The brands in question are Makeup Revolution London and Roman Beauty.

J4

We were introduced to the remarkable brands and got to experience the formulations and the workings first-hand.

J7

Roman beauty is a hair styling brand that offers epic, automatic products like hair straighteners and curling irons delivering fast and lust-worthy results. We had a gala time exploring various tools and testing them out for ourselves!

J2

But admittedly, the most exciting and fun part was of course, makeup! I am highly impressed with the quality of products from Makeup Revolution and will definitely indulge in a few palettes myself. I felt that the star products of this brand are it’s wide ranging eye shadow palettes with something for everyone to choose from.

J5

J3

J1

The opacity and pigmentation of these shadows is beyond fantastic and the price that you pay for them is highly justified. I suggest you get your hands on one of them soon to try them out for yourself. Many palettes in this collection are great, inexpensive dupes for the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

After the grand introduction to these products, we proceeded to enjoy a lovely meal with fellow bloggers.

I hope you enjoyed reading!

P.S. An outfit post will be up very soon showing you what I wore to this meet. So, stay tuned!

Makeup Geek Haul – An Indian Experience!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Saturday, 23rd May 2015

Hello everyone!

M1

I recently hauled some Makeup Geek eye shadows and I am so excited to finally get my hands on them! I have been wanting to buy these shadows for the longest time and trust me when I say they are amazing and totally worth your money!

Warm toned neutrals are my comfort zone so of course I wanted to start building my MUG eyeshadow collection with the most wearable shades. I bought a total of seven eye shadows, a small Z-Palette and one pigment, all of which are fantastic!

I will be uploading a video soon showing live swatches and sharing my review and experience while shopping from makeupgeek.com. So, if you have any questions regarding shipping, custom duties etc, please wait till I upload my video as I have covered most of the FAQs.

My Go To Smokey Eyes And Bright Lips

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 22nd March 2015

Hello everyone!

I’m the kind of person who enjoys full-on makeup! Thankfully, I have been blessed with clear skin so I have nothing to hide but I absolutely love artfully done and well applied makeup. Think smokey eyes + bright lips all together! It may not be everyone’s cup of tea since people like to go a bit muted on the lip when doing a heavy eye. I say, bring it on!

This is my go-to smokey eye makeup. Its bronze, its gold, its brown, its gorgeous! I can do this look anywhere with anything that I am wearing and be confident that my makeup looks fantastic. When I don’t know what I want to do or when I have to glam up in a hurry, this is the look I always gravitate towards.

Makeup Look – Glittery Plum Eyes + Peachy Nude Lips

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 2nd March 2015

I have recently purchased a ton of new makeup (watch out for hauls coming soon!) because I was bored with my current stash and wanted to experiment with new products, So, I was playing around with everything and came up with this gorgeous plum makeup look that is perfect for a party/wedding. It involves a lot of glitter and dewy skin and I absolutely love this makeup look. You can expect to see a lot more looks since I’ve also been trying to get out of my comfort zone of neutrals and try some fun shades like greens, blues, purples and oranges.

My Go To Makeup Looks!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 7th October 2014

Hello everyone!

I suddenly realized that I’ve never done a post on my everyday makeup!

I want to show you my basic everyday makeup and the look that I gravitate towards the most. This is the makeup that will look great on almost everyone and it is easy to achieve. It makes me look polished and put together and I can finish my makeup in just 20 minutes when I know this is what I’m going to be doing! I have been sticking to this look since about a year now and I haven’t felt the need to change it because it looks amazing and so many people have complimented me on it 🙂

This is also the look that you’ll find me wearing in most of my outfit posts because it looks great with everything. I do change my lipstick and blushes every so often when I want a different shade. Sometimes, I’ll use a colored eyeliner as well but for the most part, this is how I prefer my makeup to look like on an everyday basis :

M1

Winged eyeliner and nude lips is such a great look for everyone. Winging your eyeliner perfectly will take some practice but don’t worry it will come!

Here are all the steps involved to achieve this look and some of my favorite products that I use every time I put makeup on :

1. I like to start by priming my face with either The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer or The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It. Sometimes I use both of them together, I don’t necessarily have large pores but I have oily skin and I like to prolong the wear of my makeup as much as I can! During the winter time when my skin is not as oily, I like to apply MAC Strobe Cream on my cheeks for added glow. I usually like to wait a minute before I put foundation on to let the primer set.

2. After priming, I buff a thin layer of foundation all over my face with a buffing brush or fingers. I always make sure to apply a really thin layer because I don’t like to look cakey! Some of my favorites are the Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse for really oily days, Benefit Hello Flawless Brightening Makeup, Loreal Infallible 16Hr Foundation, Lakme CC Cream! I like foundations that are meant for normal skin and don’t have a very matte finish because I like to look glowy and healthy.

3. Most of the foundations that I like have sheer to medium coverage and I prefer that because I don’t want heavy coverage all over my face. I use the Clinique Even Better Concealer in the shade Orange Brightener under my eyes. It is an orange concealer that helps to cancel out any purple/blue undertones under the eyes. Over that I’ll use the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I also use to spot conceal if I have a breakout. To highlight my cheek bones, upper lip area, under the eyebrows and forehead I apply a thin layer of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.

M8

4. If I want my blush to last extra long, I’ll apply a cream blush on my cheeks but on most days I just go ahead and set the whole face with my all time favorite powder, Chambor Silver Shadow Compact or Benefit Hello Flawless Powder. If I want a sheer-er compact I’ll use Rimmel Stay Matte Powder or Maybelline Clear Glow Compact.

5. Then, I fill in my eyebrows with Inglot Matte Shadow in the shade 329 and set them with The Body Shop Eyebrow Gel or clear mascara. If I need to get my eyebrows done and they’re very unruly then I’ll use an eyebrow wax from Inglot before filling with powder.

6. Moving onto eyes, I draw a fine line on my top lashline with a black kohl liner, mainly Maybelline Colossal Kajal or Lakme Eyeconic Kajal. Sometimes I’ll use a brown like Colorbar I-Glide Pencil in the shade Cocoa Bar or Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil in Metal Brown. (Other times I may use a green, purple, grey or blue depending on my mood but on most days its either black or brown.) I like to smudge the line with a pencil brush. Then, I line both my top and bottom waterline with the same shade and smudge it a little on the lower lash line with a pencil brush. Then I start with a liquid/gel eyeliner like Maybelline Eye Liner Pen or the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black and trace along the top lash line creating a wing at the end. I then curl my lashes with the Colorbar Eyelash Curler and use my Holy Grail mascara, Maybelline the Falsies on both my top and bottom lashes. I like to apply a second coat of mascara with Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express and this combination gives me long voluminous lashes every time!

M5

7. I like to define my cheekbones for which I contour my face slightly with Sephora Powder Foundation in the shade Deep and lightly dust some on the sides of my forehead and under my jawline as well. I use a different shade of blush almost everyday but my favorite is Sleek Lace Palette. After blush, I’ll use a highlight from the Sleek Face Form Kit on my cheekbones, under the eyebrows, on my cupid’s bow and in the center on my forehead.

8. Like blush, my lip color changes everyday. But, one combination I keep coming back to is Nyx Lip Liner in Natural and Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade Red Chaos on top! This is the most beautiful peachy nude combination for my complexion and I prefer matte lips over glossy lips!

P.S. I like to use a makeup setting spray just before I head out to help my makeup last extra long!

I don’t use eye shadows on an everyday basis but on some days I like to get fancy! 😛

M2

And sometimes I’ll wear a matte red lip which to me, is the most beautiful look in the world! But who wears red lips everyday?

M6

When I feel like going all out, I’ll combine smokey eyes with red lips!

M4

Sometimes I’ll play with eyeliner and do something like this :

M3

I had a lot of fun compiling this and sharing my favorite looks with you all! I know this can be a lot of makeup for those of you who only wear Kajal on a day to day basis but I absolutely love makeup! Also, this may seem like a lot of steps but it only takes me around 20 minutes to complete my whole face. I hope you found this post helpful and learnt something new!

Wedding Makeup Look – Copper Eyes and Red Lips!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 28th February 2014

Hello everyone!

Recently, we were a midst the wedding season and I happened to attend a lot of weddings. I wore this beautiful saree to my friend’s brother’s wedding and then to my own cousin brother’s wedding. Both the times, I did the same makeup look but with different hairstyles.

Image

The saree has a lot of silver running through it but there is a tinge of copper on the neck area of the blouse. Silver makeup on my eyes tends to make me look dull and lifeless so I knew I had to go with copper.

Here is what the makeup looks like up close :

Image

How I did it and the products used :

Image

I started by using The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion as my moisturizer. Then, I used the Naked By Lisa Haydon Potion Lotion as an eye cream. I went onto priming my face using the The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser followed by The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It since I have oily skin.

Image

I applied a tiny bit of The Body Shop All In One Concealer in the shade “00” under my eyes. Then I spread a little bit of Revlon Colorstay Whipped Cream Makeup in the shade “180 Soft Ochre” all over my face and blended it with a wet sponge. I now used the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade “Ivory” to highlight areas of my face like under eyes, forehead, nose, chin and under the eyebrows. To conceal two spots, I used the Colorbar Full Cover Concealer in the shade “Soft Ivory 001”. Then, I set the entire base makeup with Chambor Silver Shadow Compact in the shade “RR2 Rose Pale”

Image

I filled in my eyebrows using the Inglot Freedom System Eye Shadow Matte Refill in the shade “329”. Moving onto the eyes, since I don’t have oily eyelids, I do not require an eye shadow primer so I just use my foundation to even out any discoloration and hide the look of veins. I spread the Blue Heaven Shimmer And Shiny Eye Shadow Stick in the shade “SS122” as a base. This is a cream product so it helps powder eye shadows stick to something. I then applied the third shade from the Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow Quad in the shade “Copper Brown” all over my eyelids and used the Loreal Infallible Eye Shadow in the shade “Endless Chocolate” in the crease for some depth. To blend everything out, I took the second shade from the Maybelline quad and ran it though the socket line. Then, to highlight the browbone and inner corners of the eyes, I used the first shade from the same quad. I lined my top lashline using the Colorbar I Glide Eye Pencil in the shade “Cocobar 02” followed by Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner. I smudged the same pencil on the lower waterline and topped it with a black matte eye shadow from a Sleek palette that I forgot to show here!

Image

I curled my eyelashes using the very cute Colorbar Eyelash Curlers and then applied two coats each of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara and Maybelline The Colossal Mascara respectively.

Image

I didn’t want to contour a lot but wanted some definition so I used the contouring powder from the Sleek Face Form in the shade “Light” along my jawline and a little bit through the hairline. I wanted my blush to stay on for a long time so I used The Body Shop Lip And Cheek Stain in the Shade “01” first and blended it out. I also used the coral shade from the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in “Lace” on top of that to make it last. I highlighted using the highlighting powder from the Sleek Face Form Palette.

Image

For the lips, I lined my entire lip area with Chambor Velvette Touch Lip Liner Pencil in the shade “RD-21” and filled the lips in with that too. I topped it off using the Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick in the shade “Red Coat”

Here is how it looks with a bun :

Here is how it looks with loose curls :

10 Makeup Blunders To Avoid!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 6th January 2014

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to be taking you through 10 of the most common makeup mistakes that I wish people could avoid.

There are many YouTube videos and blogs that you can follow for makeup inspiration. Pick up any magazine and you will see a flawless face on the cover. No, celebrities don’t wake up in the morning looking that pretty. A lot goes into making them look as we see them. They have a crew of makeup artists, hair stylists and wardrobe stylists following them. However, on a daily basis we should aim to look and feel our best.

So, as promised in my last post, here a few of my personal makeup pet peeves and how to get past them :

1. Miss Cake Face :

This is one of the most common makeup mistakes. Cake face isn’t pretty. We don’t need absolutely full coverage on a daily basis, even if you suffer from acne scarring. It looks highly unnatural and attracts further attention to the skin.

The sun is NOT your friend. It will highlight any problem you have. Instead of caking on concealer, use a BB cream, tinted moisturizer or a sheer coverage foundation and spot conceal. This will not only even out your skin tone but also conceal any problem areas. Let your foundation cover most of the problem first then you can conceal if you need to.

Also, full coverage makeup is suitable for the night and flash photography. You can get away with a lot more at night time. If you have good skin, please don’t feel the need to use foundation, concealer and powder. Flaunt your lovely skin by highlighting your under eye area and using some powder to reduce shine.

2. Miss Glitzy Face :

Too much glitter on the face can look creepy and unnatural. You should always use glitter/glow on one aspect of your face and own it. If you want glowing skin, keep everything else relatively matte. If you’re wearing glitter eye shadow then skip the gloss and wear matte lips. Dewy skin with sparkly eyes and glossy lips can sometimes look too much. It may look beautiful in magazines and on runways but it doesn’t translate so well in real life.

3. Miss Color Bomb Face :

Too much color on the face can look clownish. It is safe to stick to neutrals on a daily basis. Something that you can do to make your features look harmonious is match the color of your lipstick to your blush. You could also use your bronzer as eye shadow to create uniformity.

4. Miss Excessive Face :

A good rule of thumb to follow is to either play up your eyes or your lips. There may be exceptions like black smokey eyes with red lips which can beautiful during the night. But, on a daily basis, heavily kohl-ed eyes with bright lips can be a bit much. If you want a loud mouth, keep your eye makeup minimal with just a bit of defining on the top lash line and mascara. It will not distract from your beautiful features while still highlighting what you want to put forth.

5. Miss Different Colored Face :

I cannot stress the importance of matching your face to the rest of your body. Your face and your body have to look like they belong to the same person. Please accept your complexion and skip the fairer foundation or darker foundation, unless your body is tanned and the face is not.

6. Miss No Lashes :

Do NOT skip mascara! Mascara is a very important step in your daily makeup. The effects are beautiful! It opens up the eyes and makes you look more awake. I see so many girls with beautifully Kohl-ed eyes but no mascara! Why? Oh why?

7. Miss Red Teeth :

I will agree I have also suffered from this horrendous disaster. The best way is to use matte lipstick. If that isn’t your cup of tea then use gloss sparingly. Another wonderful trick is to take your finger and wrap a tissue around it and clean inside your inner mouth with it, that way, the lipstick that would’ve gotten on your teeth is now on the tissue.

8. Miss What Happened To Eyebrows? :

Eyebrows are such an essential part of your face that often get neglected! They frame your face in a wonderful way when done right. Do not over pluck them but do not leave them bushy and untamed. You can fill them in with brow powders, pencils, gels, brow pens etc. and set them with brow gel or hairspray. If you’re lucky and have dense brows naturally, just give them a brush through with a spooly and set them with brow gel/hairspray. Essentially, the color of your eye brows should match the color of the roots of your hair.

Always remember, if your eyebrows look great, people are going to notice how beautiful your eyes are but, if your eyebrows look wrong, they’re going to notice how bad your eyebrows are!

9. Miss Flaky Face :

Flaky dry patches on the skin are not attractive. Anything you apply over a dry patch will cling and only highlight the problem. Applying a good moisturizer suitable for your skin type is so important. Also, using a primer will help minimize pores and make the foundation glide on your skin. Your makeup will look fresh and last longer this way.

10. Miss Powder Face :

Powder is very essential to set your makeup, especially for oily beauties. But, overload of powder makes you look dry and flat. Only powder shiny areas like the T-zone and to set your under eye concealer. Use a light hand and before touching up your powder later in the day, blot the oil on your face with blotting sheets or a single tissue, then apply the tiniest amount of powder on top.

Makeup should be used to enhance your natural beauty and give you a boost of confidence. A mistake is not the end of time and don’t give yourself hell over it. There is always a next time! 🙂

Also, NEVER sleep with your makeup on. no matter how tired you are. If you really are too tired to wash your face, tone and apply moisturizer, at least wipe it all off with a makeup wipe.

I hope you found this helpful.

Thank you very much for reading!

October Favorites!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 4th November 2013

I hope you had a lovely and safe Diwali! 🙂

Where did October go? In fact where did 2013 go? Well, no point getting into that.

I know I have been MIA lately. October has a lot of birthdays and festival preparations! I have been incredibly busy and didn’t have any time to sit and type! Stay tuned for a lot of hauls because that is what I have been doing! 😛 and this is what the festival season is all about!

This is my first favorites post and I did have some items that I wanted to tell you about.

Image

1. Lakme CC Cream

I have extremely oily skin but since the weather is changing, my skin has been acting weird. It is oily on some days and dry on others. So, on those blah days, I turn to this wonderful product. It is neither too drying nor too emollient. It has a perfect natural finish and feels like nothing on the skin. Keep it mind that it doesn’t have a ton of coverage but yes, it is build able. I use my sunscreen and a primer underneath. If you’re dry skinned then you will definitely need some prepping before this. I am wishing other drugstore brands would come out with CC creams too because I haven’t had any success with BB creams!

2. Florelle Wet & Dry Blush – Marmorized

Image

I received this blush in my October Vellvette Bag

This is a beautifully pigmented blush! It is perfect for fall and will go with any dark lipstick. It gives a believable sheen to the cheeks without depositing chunky glitter!

3. Lotus UV Screen Matte Gel

This is my Holy Grail sunscreen and I never step out in the sun without wearing it. I do not use moisturizer when I use this as sunscreens are emollient enough. This product also acts like a primer. It makes the skin appear smoother and makeup adheres better when I wear this. It will not melt off of your face and it doesn’t flash back! It offers SPF 50 and PA+++ protection. What’s not to love?

4. Sleek iDivine Eye Shadow Palette – Storm

Image

I LOVE Sleek products! I really wish they’d come to India. However you can order their stuff online from their website.

This is my go to everyday palette! I take this palette with me even when I travel and I am set in the eye shadow department. The shades are gorgeous, amazingly pigmented, smooth to apply, easy to blend…. And I can go on and on.

Sleek Blush Palette In “Lace” Review

Sleek Pout Paints in “Port”, “Lava” and “Pin Up” Review

5. Sally Hansen Lip Inflation Extreme – Sheer Cherry

Image

This is another product I received in my August Vellvette Bag

I am not much of a lip gloss person. I prefer lipsticks and lip crayon things.

But this is such a beautiful coral pink color that I want to wear it everyday! 😛 ANNDDDD it makes the lips look fuller. It is non sticky, has a brush applcator and I don’t feel like my hair will stick to my lips. So Yay! 😀

6. Faces Eye Liner in Metal Brown

This is a very creamy liner and glides on easily on the upper lash line. It doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area and stays on pretty well! You can also use it on the waterline.

7. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

It is pigmented and stays on the waterline. It doesn’t give me raccoon eyes and doesn’t irritate them either!

Image

8. Maybelline Color Tattoo

I know this is a hyped product and rightfully so! I have to admit I was using them wrong before and didn’t quite understand the hype around them but now I absolutely love them! You only need to apply the thinnest layer. They’re pigmented and extremely long wearing + waterproof. They’re available in a multitude of colors but since I am most comfortable with neutral eyes I have been using a bronze shade and a gold one a lot during this month!

Image

9. QVS Flat Top Kabuki Brush

I use this brush for everything! Buffing foundation, applying powder, applying blush, blending bronzer! I own two as of now. Flat top brushes are very versatile and can be used for a variety of things! When I am in a hurry this is a god send because I don’t have to find a blush brush and a powder brush and a bronzer brush!

10. Inglot 17TL brush

Angled brushes are also very versatile. They can be used to apply eye liner, fill in the eyebrows, apply concealer around the lips….

I use this one for my brows and it is perfect!

Image

So that is it for my monthly favorites!

I hope you enjoyed reading and found this helpful!

Amazing Inexpensive Products! <3

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 6th September 2013

Hello everyone, today I will be talking about my favorite drugstore products that are inexpensive and perform just as well and even better than high end products. These products are readily available and easy on the pocket! Now who doesn’t love that?

You might want to sit down comfortably with a coffee because this is going to be a long post since I have a lot to share! 🙂

FACE :

1. Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse

d15

This is my favorite foundation for sheer coverage and it looks really natural. Plus it costs only Rs. 599/-

2. Chambor Sheer Delight Ultra Matte Foundation

d16

This is also one of my favorites. It looks very natural and this shade matches me exactly! It costs Rs. 799/-

I really only use sheer foundations since I do not have problematic skin. It is  just really oily. So, I don’t like to cover it up with full coverage foundation. When I do ever want to use full coverage foundation, it is pretty much always Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin.

3. Maybelline Clear Glow Compact

d9

This compact has some amount of coverage and it instantly brightens up the skin. At only Rs. 175/-, this product is a steal. It does not have that powder matte effect and it looks natural on the skin.

4. Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick

d10

This is a very easy product to use. Just swipe it on your face and blend. It blends beautifully, looks natural and provides sheer coverage. Very oily people can use this in the winters but in summers it makes the face shiny. However, this is great for normal skinned people and even dry skin over moisturizer. Available only in two shades though, for Rs. 250/-

4. Lakme Absolute Moonlit Highlighter

d14

I love the bronzer side of this! It gives that beautiful sun kissed look and its great for warming up the whole face slightly with a natural looking glow. The highlighter however has some chunky glitter that I am not too fond of on my cheeks. If you can move past that, the base is pinkish and makes the skin look beautiful and healthy. It looks ethereal in the inner corners of the eyes and both the shades can be used as eye shadow. Retails for Rs. 600/-

There are blushes in the Lakme Absolute range too that are really good!

EYES :

1. Garnier Anti Dark Circle Eye Roll-On

d6

I don’t like to use heavy duty concealers everyday. This shade is perfect for my under eye area and brightens them up. But, it only gives sheer to medium coverage. If you have really stubborn dark circles, I would recommend the Colorbar Pot Concealer which is worth Rs. 500/- and comes in multiple shades with pink and yellow undertones.

This however, comes in only two shades. “Light” and “Dark”. The light shade luckily is perfect to liven up my face. It retails for Rs. 199/-

2. Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil

d11

This is a beautiful eye pencil that glides on smoothly and doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area. It comes in multiples shades like blue, green, purple, brown, black, grey etc and I own 3-4 shades. Price Rs. 249/- to 349/-. The only drawback is that you have to sharpen it!

3. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

d4

This glides on smoothly too and doesn’t tug on the waterline. It doesn’t need more than 3 swipes in the waterline to show full pigmentation and its very black! All this for only Rs. 200/- 😀

4. Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadows

d7

These are extremely long wearing, waterproof cream eye shadows that are really easy to apply. Just swipe them all over the lid with your fingers and you’re done! They’re great for a quick look and stay put all day, even in the water. They come in a variety of shades and are sold for Rs. 350/- each.

5. Maybelline The Falsies and The Colossal Mascaras

d8

These two are my favorite mascaras and I have never found any other mascara  that works as well as they do! I like to use them together. Falsies for length and Colossal for volume. They give me voluminous lashes that actually look like I am wearing falsies! LOVE! ❤

Falsies – Rs. 425/-

Colossal – Rs. 330/-

I prefer the waterproof versions because they hold a curl better. But, they are a pain to remove! I am willing to bear the hassle of removing them if they make my lashes look amazing! 😛

6. Elle 18 Eye Sparklers Shadow Sticks

d13

These are intensely pigmented shadow sticks that are smooth and easy to work with. They can be used as a base for your shadows or on their own and they come in 5 shades. They don’t last as well as the color tattoos but for Rs. 85/- a pop, you cannot really go wrong!

7. Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow Quads

d5

This is my favorite quad. I like neutral shadows and this makes everything so easy. You can achieve a light natural look and also a smokey look with this quad. They are intensely pigmented and easy to blend. The first shade is a beautiful highlight shade and the third shade is a beautiful rose gold! 🙂

They come in quads of different colors too. Available for Rs. 450/-

8. Inglot Eye Shaodows

d17

They are very pigmented, stay on all day, easy to blend and come in a plethora of shades! A pan costs Rs. 300/- for one eye shadow and a pot will cost around Rs. 450/-

9. Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

d3

This works just as well as the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and is a hell of a lot cheaper! Intensely black, can be used as a liner or as a dark base all over the lid. It is waterproof and will not budge throughout the day! Price Rs. 500/-

LIPS :

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

d12

They are my go to lip products! In fact I have used them so much that the lettering has come off and they have lost their pointy shape!

They stain the lips, stay all day and are comfortable to wear. The darker shades are more staining than the lighter ones. The glossiness will wear off in a while but the stain stays. I keep applying my regular lip balm throughout the day if I feel the need for moisture!

They retail for Rs. 600/- each.

2. Colorbar Lipsticks

d18

1. Colorbar Soft Touch Lipstick in “C 40 Citrine”. This is a great wearable reddish orange.

2. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “60 OR Obsessed Orange”.  This is a straight up neon orange.

3. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “63 P Shy Cherry”. This is a berry toned deep pink.

4. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “61P Thrilling Pink”. This is a mauvy nudey pink.

The Soft Touch lipsticks from Colorbar are really easy to wear and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 325/-

The Velvet Matte lipsticks are slightly drying but still comfortable to wear. They work well over a lip balm too and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 250/-

All these come in multiple shades! There is a shade for everyone! 🙂

3. Maybelline Lipsticks

d19

1. Maybelline Superstay Lipstick in “Non Stop Red”. This is very beautiful pinkish red. – Rs. 525/-

2. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “BR41 Windsor Rose”. This is a wearable sheer red. – Rs. 250/-

3. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “CB41 Coral Pink”. This is a true coral pink shade. – Rs. 250/-

4. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in “840 Coral Lustre”. This is an orange with shimmer. – Rs. 399/-

All of these lipsticks are great and all of them have a separate formula.

-The Superstay lipsticks are extremely long wearing but slightly drying.

-The Moisture Extreme range is almost as moisturizing as a lip balm and yet the lipsticks are beautifully pigmented. They are the most comfortable to wear but do not wear for a long time.

-The regular Colorsensational range has a watery shine and semi matte texture and they are also comfortable to wear.

4. Elle 18 Lipsticks

d20

1. Elle 18 Lipstick in “42 Coral Romance”. This is a beautiful nude coral.

2. Elle 18 Lipstick in “27 Rosy Blush”. This is bright red orange.

They have a balm in the center and wear for about 2-3 hours. Available in several shades and at Rs. 100/- each, you cannot really complain!

NAILS :

1. Lakme Nail Polishes

d1

The absolute range dries really fast and makes life quick and easy. But it may chip off on the 2nd day. Still worth it due to the crazy dry time! – Rs. 199/-

The Color Crush Range will dry in a few minutes but it will stay on longer. – Rs. 150/-

2. Revlon and L’Oreal Nail Polishes

d2

Revlon Top Speed nail polishes dry really quickly too and this silver shade is fully pigmented in just one swipe! Rs. – 210/-

L’Oreal nail polishes dry in normal time but these glitter ones dry quickly, I love them, the packaging reminds me of YSL and they are also available in plenty of shades! – Rs. 235/-

HAIR :

1. Matrix Biolage Deep Smoothing Serum

d22

Works just as well as a high end serum. smells great, reduces frizz, makes combing easier and makes the hair shinier.

Rs. 255/- for 100ml

2. Dove Elixir

d21

I love the packaging! It smells delightful and does good things to the hair like, add shine, reduce frizz and cure dryness in 30 minutes! It can also be used sparingly as a serum. Retails only for Rs. 185/-

So that is it for my drugstore gems!

The “Would You Rather?” Tag – Beauty Edition!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 12th August 2013

Hello everyone, this tag has been going around in the blogosphere for quite some time now and also on YouTube. I just saw it on http://skinndbeauty.wordpress.com/“” and thought it was so fun to read. So, I thought I should do it too! 😀

So here goes :

1. Would you rather lose all your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lip glosses, or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?

I would much rather lose all of my palettes and eye shadows. I can always create shadow-y looks with eyeliner and there is no way in hell that I am getting out of the house without my mascara and a lip-something ( could be a lip stain, lip tint, lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm ) 😛

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

I would let it grow. I have always wondered if I never cut my hair, how long will they grow until they stop growing anymore and just fizzle out at the ends! This will be a good way to try! 😉

I don’t think I will ever be able to carry the “bald chick” look!

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

I prefer coral blushes over pink. I have always felt they look more natural on my skin tone and more believable. I generally prefer coral over pink in lip products as well!

4. If you had Rs. 100000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

I would rather buy clothes. Since makeup lasts a long time, I don’t mind investing in it. But if I were to shop at the high street with that money, I would be able to buy a lot of trendy pieces and a few classic pieces.

Or maybe I would just buy a fabulous Louis Vuitton Bag! ❤

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?

What? Who could even think of such a question?! :-O

Lipstick on your eyes will make you look ill or dead. Imagine pink / coral / red eyes!

But then eyeliner as lipstick? Maybe I could use a pink eyeliner as lipstick! I will find a way around that one! 😉

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Sephora all the way! I would have so much more choice! Mac is all about makeup and skincare. With Sephora I will have other options like fragrance, bath, makeup, skincare etc! Also with Sephora I will have a lot of choice between various brands.

7. Would you rather only use one eye shadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Eyes shadow! I generally only wear neutral eye shadows. So, I would find a slightly shimmery beige eye shadow that can be used all over the lid and for highlighting and stick to it! 😀 It would make life easier!

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in winter?

This is such a dreadful question. Nobody would want to be too hot or too cold!

I prefer winters over summers! Summer in India feels like our body parts are going to melt off! But maybe in the summers I can wear winter clothes and the air conditioning would make it easier! 😦

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Dark nails! I know most people say bright nails but there is just something about deep burgundy / black nails that I find extremely sexy!

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

There is a dupe for everything in the market. I will be upset giving up my favorite product but I am sure I will find something similar one day. I cannot live without my mascara and lip balm. I think I will find another amazing lip balm but I just cannot give up on my favorite mascara!

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Ponytail. There is so much you can do with a ponytail. Low ponytail, high ponytail, side ponytail, braided etc!

12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?

I am not a lip gloss person. I prefer lip balms over glosses as I have extremely dry lips.

I LOVE painting my nails and I don’t really care for lip gloss that much.

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or Sharpie them in everyday?

What?

Seriously.

What?

I will do anything I can to keep my eyebrows! They are such an important feature of your face. They frame your eyes and you can change your whole look by changing the shape of your eyebrows! I will find a dark brown sharpie and then we will be best friends forever! ❤ ❤

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Oooh! As much as I love painting my nails, I would give up nail polish because makeup is a beautiful gift to women! There is so much you can do with makeup and it makes everything look better!

Whereas, you can find multiple ways to make your fingers look pretty like rings, knuckle rings, tattoos etc!

So this is the end of the tag!

I am so glad that we do not actually have to make these choices and can continue doing whatever we love! 😛

Hope you enjoyed! xo!

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow Quad in “Copper Brown” Review!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 11th August 2013

What Maybelline claims :

Image

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow “Copper Brown”

Why You’ll Love It

•Glow you eyes with diamonds with the creamiest powder shadow ever launched by Maybelline NY!
•The most glowing diamond effect in 4 simple steps
•Exclusive technology with gem-like sparkles that do not crush

Expert Tip

Apply A on your entire eye lid and inner corner with the bigger sponge.
Blend B on your medium lid with the opposite side of the bigger sponge.
Blend C on lower medium lid with the smaller sponge.
Use D with the opposite side of the smaller sponge to line the lash line.

My Thoughts :

If you are looking for an easy neutral palette, then this could be your pick. It consists of 4 shades ranging from a creamy shimmery beige to a dark brown.

All the shadows have a pearl/metallic finish. None of them are matte.

This could be a go to eye shadow quad for college girls and for working women as it has shades that complement each other well and hence this helps to get ready quicker.

It has 4 shades of copper/brown.

The packaging is sturdy and shuts with a click.

Image

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye shadow “Copper Brown”

The first shade ( A ) is very shimmery. I like to use it for highlighting the inner corner and under the brow bone. Sometimes I will just wear mascara and highlight using this shade and manage to look fully awake and beautified.

The second shade ( B ) has a pearl finish. Slightly darker skin tones can also use this as a highlight color. It has very fine golden shimmer and looks beautiful under the brow bone and all over the lid.

The third shade ( C ) is my favorite shade in the palette. It is a beautifully pigmented shade of rose gold. I use this all over the lid.

The fourth shade ( D ) is a dark brown with fine golden shimmer. It is not as pigmented but I like that because it gives a very soft look. I like to use in the outer ‘V’ of my eyes and under the lower lash line to create some depth.

Image

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow “Copper Brown”

Since they are so soft and easy to blend, there is no fallout. However, if you want them to last long, I’d advise using an eye shadow primer underneath.

I like that there is not too much shadow in this quad and I can actually see myself finishing it. ( which is rare with shadows )

Here is how it looks WITHOUT FLASH :

Image

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow “Copper Brown”

Here is how it looks with FLASH :

Image

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow “Copper Brown”

The GOOD :

1. Great neutral palette.

2. Easy to wear to college/work.

3. Travel friendly.

4. Soft and easy to blend.

5. Decently Pigmented.

The COULD BE BETTER :

1. A tad too expensive.

2. Dark brown shade is not as pigmented as the others. ( I like that but not everyone may like it )

Will I recommend and repurchase?

I don’t think I will have to repurchase this too soon but if I finish this up then I will. I recommend this to anyone who wants a quick look with shiny neutrals and easy touch ups throughout the day! I absolutely LOVE the shade ( A ) for highlighting! ❤

Price – Rs. 450/-
