As you may have read in the title, this post is going to be a review of my all time favourite bright orange lipstick! I picked two of these up from Sephora (India) and wanted some more but unfortunately, Sephora is never fully stocked with NYX products!
I’m definitely big on matte lipsticks and I feel like they’re the most pigmented, fuss-free, transfer-proof and last for hours. I’m obsessed with orange lips for the spring/summer time and this was a very pleasant discovery! Read on to know more –
What NYX Says :
NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.
Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla)wax, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Oleyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Bis-Digylceryl Polyacyladipade-2, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A, and Fragrance. MAY CONTAIN: Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), D&C Red No.6 (CI 15850), D&C Red No.7 (CI 15850), D&C Red No.27 Aluminum Lake (CI 45410), FD&C Yellow No.5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140), FD&C Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090), or D&C Red No.36 (CI 12085).
Price : Rs. 570/- from Sephora (India). However, they retail for only $6.00 in the United States.
They come in a black matte packaging which is sturdy and sophisticated. It shuts with a satisfying click and I love how you can see the actual colour of the lipstick without having to open it. It really helps to be able to see the colour of each lipstick when you have more than one in your collection.
My Thoughts :
The pigmentation is ON POINT! If you have any issues with pigmented or darkened lips, these will cover them perfectly. They have incredible colour pay-off in a single swipe and can also be layered to achieve superior coverage and bang-on colour. What you see in the tube is exactly what you get. I always prefer bold lipsticks to be matte because they do not bleed out of the lip line.
The application is super smooth without any tugging and they do not feel like a drying matte lipstick either. However, you will need exfoliated and well-prepared lips in order to rock these as they will highlight and grab onto any dry patch.
They last for a good 5-6 hours leaving a soft stain of colour behind and are completely water-proof but not entirely transfer-proof since they don’t have an extremely dry matte formula. Fret not, they will not smear around on your face though!
“Indie Flick” is a stunning, bold and summer appropriate neon orange shade. It looks bright and catchy in person and I would suggest you to keep the rest of your makeup limited to muted browns to let this colour speak for itself. It will look great on almost every single skin tone and looks especially gorgeous with slightly tanned skin.
The Good :
1. Extremely Pigmented
2. Silky and Non-Drying Matte Texture
3. Comfortable To Wear
4. Does Not Smear or Smudge
5. Travel Friendly
6. Colour Visible On Packaging
8. Very Slight but Non-Offensive Smell
The Could Be Better :
1. Not As Easily Available in India.
2. Will Highlight Any Dry Patch On The Lips
I am very happy with these lipsticks and would recommend everyone to try a few shades from this range. They come in a whopping 33 shades so there is a colour for everyone! I will definitely look into some other colours to add to my stash.
