Nyx Matte Lipstick Review – MLS17 “Sweet Pink”

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 20th April 2015

Hello everyone!

As promised in my previous review of the Nyx Matte Lipstick in “Indie Flick”, this post is going to be a review of another Nyx lipstick that I picked up.

Nyx3

Pink lips are certainly a girly favourite and I already own more than my fair share! They’re extremely fun and are perfect for the spring/summer time!

L6

What NYX Says :

NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.

Ingredients :

Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla)wax, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol, Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Oleyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Bis-Digylceryl Polyacyladipade-2, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A, and Fragrance. MAY CONTAIN: Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide Red (CI 77491), Iron Oxide Yellow (CI 77492), Iron Oxide Black (CI 77499), D&C Red No.6 (CI 15850), D&C Red No.7 (CI 15850), D&C Red No.27 Aluminum Lake (CI 45410), FD&C Yellow No.5 Aluminum Lake (CI 19140), FD&C Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake (CI 42090), or D&C Red No.36 (CI 12085).

Price : Rs. 570/- from Sephora (India). However, they retail for only $6.00 in the United States.

Packaging :

Nyx7

They come in a black matte packaging which is sturdy and sophisticated. It shuts with a satisfying click and I love how you can see the actual colour of the lipstick without having to open it. It really helps to be able to see the colour of each lipstick when you have more than one in your collection.

Nyx2

My Thoughts :

The pigmentation is ON POINT! If you have any issues with pigmented or darkened lips, these will cover them perfectly. They have incredible colour pay-off in a single swipe and can also be layered to achieve superior coverage and bang-on colour. What you see in the tube is exactly what you get. I always prefer bold lipsticks to be matte because they do not bleed out of the lip line.

The application is super smooth without any tugging and they do not feel like a drying matte lipstick either. However, you will need exfoliated and well-prepared lips in order to rock these as they will highlight and grab onto any dry patch.

Nyx8

They last for a good 5-6 hours leaving a soft stain of colour behind and are completely water-proof but not entirely transfer-proof since they don’t have an extremely dry matte formula. Fret not, they will not smear around on your face though!

“Sweet Pink” is a beautiful, bold and summer appropriate mauve pink shade. It looks bright and catchy in person and looks especially stunning with winged eyes. It will look great on almost every single skin tone and it has a slightly more wearable quality than a neon shade due to the mauve under-tone.

Nyx9

The Good :

1. Extremely Pigmented

2. Silky and Non-Drying Matte Texture

3. Comfortable To Wear

4. Does Not Smear or Smudge

5. Travel Friendly

6. Colour Visible On Packaging

7. Inexpensive

8. Very Slight but Non-Offensive Smell

The Could Be Better :

1. Not As Easily Available in India.

2. Will Highlight Any Dry Patch On The Lips

L5

Overall :

I am very happy with these lipsticks and would recommend everyone to try a few shades from this range. They come in a whopping 33 shades so there is a colour for everyone! I will definitely look into some other colours to add to my stash.

I hope you enjoyed reading!

Nyx Matte Lipstick Review – MLS05 “Indie Flick”

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 12th April 2015

Hello everyone!

As you may have read in the title, this post is going to be a review of my all time favourite bright orange lipstick! I picked two of these up from Sephora (India) and wanted some more but unfortunately, Sephora is never fully stocked with NYX products!

Nyx3

I’m definitely big on matte lipsticks and I feel like they’re the most pigmented, fuss-free, transfer-proof and last for hours. I’m obsessed with orange lips for the spring/summer time and this was a very pleasant discovery! Read on to know more –

New Hair Cut + Announcement!

Hello everyone,

As you may have noticed,

http://www.aishwaryakaushal.wordpress.com is now http://www.glamourignited.com!!!

You may observe a few other changes in this blog over the course of a few weeks. I’m in the process of revamping this site to suit my style of writing. A major change is that now to leave a reply/comment, you have to click the “leave a reply” line at the top of the post.Other than that, I’m happy with how it’s currently looking. I’ve also made a resolve to upload more consistently with fresh content. I have so many posts that are ready to make their way on to the blog like shopping hauls from various places, makeup looks, outfit posts etc. So, keep an eye out for interesting new blog posts that are coming soon. Also, subscribe to this blog via email to receive them right in your inbox!

Anyway, I’m going through a major change in my life right now which prompted me to change my hair. They were long at the front and had started to appear limp with no body. So, I decided to cut some fringes and add some playfulness to my overall appearance.

And yes, I cut my own hair! No offense to any hairdresser out there, whenever I’ve gone to the salon to get a professional hair cut, they’ve always cut off more than I had asked for. It is majorly annoying when that happens as it takes months (read years!) to grow them out. I’m still not sure how I feel about my new hair style though I hope I grow to love them over the weeks.

Here are the pictures :

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup (Foundation) Review

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 17th February 2015

What Estee Lauder claims :

15-hour staying power. Flawless all day. This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity. Won’t change color, smudge or come off on clothes. Feels lightweight and comfortable. Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

Estee1

BENEFITS

Long-Wear: 15 Hours. Medium coverage. Our #1 makeup.

COVERAGE

Medium, Buildable

FINISH

Natural, Semi-Matte

FORMULA FACTS
  • Oil-Free
  • Dermatologist-Tested
  • Non-Acnegenic; Won’t clog pores
  • Fragrance-Free

Estee2

Price – Rs. 2750/- at Sephora India

Estee3 Estee4

My Thoughts :

I had wanted this foundation for a long time after reading tons of amazing reviews on it. Since my skin type is oily, this seemed like the perfect choice for a full coverage matte look. I am in the shade “1W2 Sand” which matches me perfectly! There are a whopping 24 shades to choose from so you’re sure to find your match. It comes in a delicate glass bottle packaging without a pump, which is a major let down because getting the product out carefully without making a mess is next to impossible. If you want to use a pump with it, you can buy an independent one from MAC.

Estee6

It has a thick fluid consistency and sets quickly once applied to the face. This cannot be layered after it has set because it has a matte finish and can end up looking cakey. To achieve complete coverage, apply a thin layer and build it up fast as per needed. I suggest working on one part of the face at a time. After putting this on, I only apply a tiny touch of brightening concealer under my eyes and set everything with a light powder. Since I’m blessed with naturally spot-free skin, I do not need to cover much but, I’m highly impressed by how even-toned and flawless it makes the skin look. It does not feel heavy but because it is such a full coverage foundation, it is definitely not going to look natural and skin-like in the harsh sunlight. It is best suited for the night time, parties or indoor events.

Estee7

The lasting power of this foundation is commendable. It looks fresh throughout the day and doesn’t move around or transfer anywhere. Since I have oily skin, I usually need to blot my face with powder once or twice a day. I have had days when I’ve worn this at 9 in the morning, went to work and attended a late night party knowing that my skin is looking its best. This has quickly become my go-to foundation when I know I’m gonna be gone for a long time and need my skin to be perfect.

Estee8

Despite the SPF, it does not give you a white cast and looks wonderful in pictures. One thing to keep in mind is that this foundation is better suited for people with oily/combination skin type. If you have dry skin, make sure you prep with a heavy duty moisturizer beforehand. Using a primer will enhance the already impressive longevity of this product. I have found that the best way to apply this foundation is by using a wet makeup sponge or a wet brush. When I don’t have time to bounce a sponge around on my face, I like spraying a kabuki brush with makeup setting spray or MAC Fix Plus and applying a fine layer on the face. I suggest everyone with oily/combination skin to invest in a great foundation that will last throughout the day and give you the coverage that you want, while controlling sebum production. It is definitely worth the high price and I will repurchase it once I’m about to finish this bottle.

Rating – 4.8/5 This is how it looks on me :

Estee9

The Good :

1. Amazingly full coverage.

2. Makes the skin look perfect.

3. No white cast.

4. Commendable lasting power.

5. Doesn’t oxidize.

6. Easily available.

7. Controls oil and sebum.

8. Doesn’t break me out.

9. Waterproof.

10. Comes in 24 shades with various undertones.

The Could Be Better :

1. Not travel friendly due to the delicate glass packaging which is prone to breakage.

2. No pump.

3. Hefty price tag.

4. Will look cakey in the sunlight.

Side Note – I have a shoe haul, a Sarojini Nagar haul and an online shopping haul coming up! 😀

Product Empties + Mini Reviews!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 31st August 2014

Hello everyone!

Today I’ll be showing you all the products I love and have used up recently.

1. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact in the shade “RR2 Rose Pale”

E1

This is an amazing product and has been in my makeup bag for about 4 years now. I always have a back up of this. It has a little coverage, keeps me matte for a long time, doesn’t look cakey and is great for touch ups. The shade is a perfect match for me and it comes with a refill. What more could I want?

2. Lakme Radiance Compact in the shade “Pearl”

Almost every college girl has used this at some point since this is easily accessible and inexpensive. I remember going through a ton of these during my high school / college days! This has been in my kit for a long time. I do not use this as much now since I’ve moved on to better powders but I finally finished it! I probably will not repurchase this but it is a great little handy product for touch ups for people on a budget.

3. Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara

E3

I have been a fan of this mascara for almost 2 years now. I am yet to find a mascara that lengthens my lashes better than this does. I use a combination of two mascaras whenever I apply makeup, a lengthening one and a volumizing one. I do have fairly long lashes to begin with but this gives me incredible length with two coats, doesn’t clump and lasts throughout the day! I am currently using a new one and I will continue to repurchase this until I find a magical mascara that gives me unbelievable lashes! 😛

4. Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara

This is the volumizing mascara in my routine. It separates each lash while coating it with blackness and gives the look of extremely voluminous lashes. Maybelline mascaras tend to be a bit more wet than the rest but that works well for me as I like my mascaras to be on the wetter side. The combination of these two mascaras gives me the best possible results yet and I’ve received a lot of compliments on my lashes when I’m wearing these two together. I am using a new one of this too.

5. Maybelline The Hyper Curl Volume Express Mascara

On its own, this mascara is great for those natural days when you don’t want extreme volume or length but just want your face to look more awake and your lashes to appear more black. I hardly have those days when I wake up thinking I want natural lashes today, but this works well when I’m layering it with other ones. I am not sure if I’ll repurchase this.

6. The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It

E2

I do not have large pores but this makes my skin appear slightly smoother and helps my foundation go on more evenly. It also increases the lasting power of my makeup and instantly mattifies the skin upon application. I am currently using a back up of this.

THE BODY SHOP COMPLETE STRAWBERRY RANGE REVIEW

7. Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50

Lotus Herbals’ sunscreens are great for oily skin. This almost works like a primer and feels fresh and matte. This is my favorite sunscreen and I always have a backup of this. I haven’t found a better sunscreen that works so well for oily skin.

8. The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer

I love this product! I use it to spot treat a blemish or redness. It even works well as a primer and refines pores. I can’t say if it helps minimize the size of pores because I do not have large pores but I do love using it as a skincare product and sometimes under makeup. I am using a back up of this and I will repurchase it once it finishes.

9. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in the shade “175 Sugar Pink”

E5

Finishing a lipstick is a big deal for me as I have a ton of them! This is a lovely peachy pink nude shade that is perfect for everyday. I may not repurchase this anytime soon since I have so many similar shades in my collection that I want to go through first. Read my review on CHAMBOR POWDER MATTE LIPSTICKS

10. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade “Ivory”

This is probably the fourth one that I have finished. It works really well to hide under eye darkness. I also use it to highlight certain areas of my face. It is handy for touch ups and you only need a small amount. I love that it has medium coverage which makes it buildable. It is a great inexpensive dupe for YSL Touche Eclat. I already have one that I am presently using and I will definitely repurchase it.

11. Maybelline The Colossal Kajal

E4

This is a makeup staple for many girls out there and happens to be mine too. It is very black, easy to apply and stays on for a fair amount of time. I love that this is great value for money. ( Tip – If you find that your kajal smudges throughout the day, smudge it a little beforehand with an ear bud/pencil brush/smudge brush as soon as you apply it. Then set it with a matte black powder eye shadow. Your kajal should stay in place the entire day! )

12. Faces Eye Pencil in the shade “Metal Brown”

I love using brown eyeliner pencil around the eyes to define the shape and then use black in the inner rims of my eyes and on top very close to the lashline. I find that brown is not harsh at all and this one has little shimmer particles. It happens to be very creamy and doesn’t tug on the eyes. A few seconds after application, it sets and then stays for a long time so if you want to smudge it, you have to work very quickly.. I have gone through atleast 5-6 of these and I will repurchase this soon once I finish other liners.

13. Colorbar iGlide Eye Pencil in the shade “Cocobar”

This is an amazing eye pencil. It glides on smoothly without tugging the slightest bit on the delicate eyelid area. The dark brown color is exactly what I wanted. It stays on for a long time without disappearing and is completely matte. I will definitely repurchase this once I finish some of my other brown liners. In fact, I would like to try more shades of this.

Haul Series Part 9 – Kryolan Makeup Haul

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 17th December 2013

Hello everyone!

I had been wanting to go to the Kryolan store since ages but it just wasn’t happening! I finally told myself that I had to go and reached there at 7:10 pm because of immense traffic! The store shuts at 7! I was mega annoyed. But, the next day I gathered my motivation and decided to go again. This time I reached the store at 6:40! 😛

The store was open but it was on the verge of closing. By the time me and my friend were done, we had to leave through the back gate! 😛

The MUA and SA were both very friendly and helpful and they didn’t seem to mind us making them overwork! 🙂

This is what I got :

Image

1. Kajal Pencil – Rs. 150/-

Image

This is available in three colors : Black, Brown and Nude.

2. Brush No. 3612 – Rs. 160/-

Image

This brush can be used to pack eye shadow on the lid. I intend to use this as a push liner brush.

3. Brush No. 9863 – Rs. 500

Image

This is a fluffy crease eye shadow blending brush and it is very soft! 😀

Here is a comparison to the Kryolan Professional Art 3511 Brush :

Image

As you can see, the black one is fluffier and blends eye shadows beautifully. The smaller one is a good brush for beginners and it can also be a great brush for defining the “outer v” of the eyes.

4. Faceliner – Colorcode 50 ( Navy Blue )

Image

The concept of a “Faceliner” was interesting! I am sorry I don’t remember the exact price of these but they must be around 250/- or 300/-

5. Faceliner – Colorcode 22 ( Nude )

Image

This would be a great brightening shade in the waterline.

Keep in mind that they dry a little bit during the winter time but they’re smooth in the summers. You can solve the dryness problem by blowing a hair dryer on them before using.

6. Lipstick – LC165 – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a brick red shade. If you’re someone who is afraid of intense reds then this will be a great starting shade for you.

7. Lipstick – LC083 – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a yellow based barbie pink shade.

8. Lipstick – LC150 ( Nude ) – Rs. 300/-

Image

This is a coral-y nude shade.

Here are the swatches of the lipsticks :

Image

Left to Right – LC150, LC165, LC083

9. Liner – 915 ( Turquoise ) and 913 ( Purple )

Image

10. Dual Finish Compact ( 3W ) – Rs. 1200/-

Image

Image

This is almost like a powder foundation. You can use it with a wet brush or sponge to achieve higher coverage.

11. Sponges – Rs. 125/-

Image

Just some sponges!

This is it for my Kryolan Haul!

I hope you enjoyed reading!
