One Dress, Five Ways!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 27th September 2013

I always wonder that we buy so many dresses and wear them only once! So, I wanted to share with you some of my ideas on how you can sneakily repeat your dress and still look like you’re wearing a new outfit every time! Just don’t do it consecutively 😛

So here is the dress that I’m going to play with today!

In the first three outfits, I’m going to use this dress as a top.

Here I have paired high waisted black trousers with the dress. The sweetheart neckline of the dress gives the outfit a sexy look and the red satin pumps add to sultry feel. This is a night-out ready outfit!

This outfit is boho chic with a twist. The flared maxi skirt is very feminine and adds to effortless sexy look.

This is a more day appropriate look. Red and green are complementary colors and work really well together. The casual feel of the colored denim balances the edginess of the dress. And Flats. To run! 😛

Here, I have used the dress as a tunic. This is a more fall/winter appropriate look. You can further change the look by adding a trench coat!

For the last look :

I’ve kept it corporate classy. Everything looks better with a blazer! 😛

Ooh! And a Hat! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my pairings and how to wear a dress in multiple ways!

Autumn/Fall Fashion Trends, Essentials and Favorites!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Wednesday, 25th September 2013

Even though New Delhi is still hot as hell, I cannot wait for autumn/fall. I am just a more pleasant person in the wintertime!

Why I love winters :

1. Blankets and Quilts are so cosy! ❤

2. Make-up stays in place all day!

3. My face doesn’t become an oily mess at the end of the day so less break-outs!

4. Ice creams do not melt in 5 seconds, unlike summers!

5. I actually want to work out and go for a run in the winters because that gives a sense of warmth in the cold weather.

6. Hair styles do not move. i.e. Less Humidity = Less Frizz!

Yay! for upcoming winters! 😀

So, enough rambling now. Let’s get to why you’re here, Fashion!

Cardigans are a great transitional piece from summer to fall. They can be layered over dresses and paired up with skirts to create a more fall appropriate look. You can be wearing a summer outfit during the day and it is very easy to just put on a cardigan over it on chilly fall nights.

They can also be a very versatile piece because they’re great for layering. They can be worn over dresses and with skirts, pants etc.

A denim jacket can instantly turn many outfits into more casual, day appropriate looks. They will keep you warm, but not too warm and they look great with dresses!

Structured bags add class and sophistication to any outfit. Shades of dark green are going to be huge this fall. Navy blue and oxblood are also good colors to sport during fall/winter.

Again, a very versatile transitional item, they can be worn with a number of things including dresses, skirts, pants, trousers etc!

Every woman needs a black blazer in her life. Textured clothing is also going to be huge this fall. Colors like military green, olive green, navy blue and oxblood are your best picks.

Scarves add a touch of elegance to any outfit and elevate a simple outfit into a dressier version of itself. They’re available in a multitude of colors, styles, and prints. Woolen ones help keep the neck area warm during fall/winter while looking chic!

Everything looks better with a hat on top! Say goodbye to sunhats because fedoras and beanies are the hats for fall!

Tights are a great way to wear your dresses during autumn and winter time! They look great with coats, dresses, skirts etc. Colored tights will instantly liven up a dull neutral outfit. They’re also available in funky prints. When wearing printed leggings, it is advisable to keep the rest of your outfit plain and muted so the leggings can be the eye-ball grabbing piece. In Blair’s words, always remember, “Tights are NOT pants!”

What is fall without boots? Tall boots are the epitome of fall/winter fashion!

I hope you enjoyed my little compilation of autumn/fall fashion!

A Little Trouser/Jegging Haul :-)

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Tuesday, 24th September 2013

Hello everyone,

I went to GK 1 M Block Market today to get my nails back into shape after my acrylic french manicure. Read all about it HERE

If you’re like me and you hate the discomfort of skinny jeans but love how they look, you’re going to love jeggings and stretchy trousers! Skinny jeans look very flattering and sexy, but to me, jeans are really uncomfortable. I prefer to live in palazzos, maxi skirts, jumpsuits, dresses, skirts, leggings etc!

Now that we have skinny trousers and jeggings, I don’t have to worry about uneasiness anymore!

I was looking for regular black jeggings of some sort and I ended up buying three different ones!

I stopped at a store called “Gift Palace” and this is what I bought :

They’re a lovely charcoal grey pair of jeggings which will be perfect for fall and they go with everything! I love that it has two zippers on one side and one on the other! They fit me like a glove! I bought them for Rs. 1050/-

This is how they look on me :

Then a lovely girl just outside the shop, came up to me and said, if I was looking for trousers then I should go to a place called “Happening” which a just a few steps ahead and she had bought a few pairs from there too and loved them. I thanked her and went forward wishing to find some black ones!

And guess what? I did! 😛

And another one!

Both of them fit me perfectly!

This is how the black ones look on me :

Every girl needs a pair of black trousers! I love that it has a lot of buttons at the front and a broad belt. They look like jeans but feel like leggings! ❤

This is how the olive green trousers look on me :

Olive green and military green are going to be huge this fall. Textured clothes are always in trend during the winters. This was such an amazing find! All of them feel very snug and soft but this has to be my favorite one out of the three! 😀 Now I just need to get them hemmed.

Both of these retailed for Rs. 1350/- each.

Thanks to the wonderful girl for telling me about this lovely shop! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my little haul.

My Experience With Acrylic/Fake Nails And Gel Manicure!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Monday, 23rd September 2013

Hello everyone! 🙂

So recently I went to a nail salon to get my nails done. I was unsure if I wanted to get acrylics. I had thought about getting a gel manicure only but my nails are very brittle and the thought of getting long nails in a matter of minutes was very alluring! 😛

I decided on a French Manicure, a true classic.

The place is called “CLAWS” and it is located in the GK 2 Market, New Delhi.

We started by pushing my cuticles back and filing my nails. Then we moved onto acrylic french manicure nails. They are white in color to get that beautiful french tip.

The acrylic nails were glued on mine just a few millimeters before where my real nails start growing out.

I know it looks really scary now but it gets better! 😛

My nails were now trimmed to a more appropriate length.

I still felt they needed to be a bit shorter so they were trimmed again, just a few millimeters. Then they were filed properly to avoid any sharp edges.

They were then filled with a mixture of some liquid and powder. I forgot to ask what it was! But, that is what makes the fake nails look like your real nails and binds them together.

They were filed again and buffed to perfection from top to bottom.

Then we moved onto a gel top coat that gives a beautiful shine that stays for a long time.

I wanted to get some nail art done but I didn’t want to spoil the sophisticated look of the french manicure so we decided to do an accent nail.

I was told to put my hands under an LED light to fix the gel nail polish.

The process took about 2 hours and I was exhausted after that so I had donuts! 😛

All in all, it was a good experience. However, they are really hard to maintain. You’ll need to get regular fillers so it still looks real. The maintenance depends on how fast your nails grow. I, for myself will not get acrylics again. Sometimes the white part of the nails turns yellow after eating food and I need to wash them with a brush to make them white again. I would much rather get a gel manicure from the next time onwards. It stays longer and makes the nails stronger.

About 2-3 coats of gel nail polish are applied. After every coat, you need to put your nails under the light to fix the polish. The last coat is a top coat that gives shine.

The nails look really thick and healthy after a gel manicure and it does not chip at all for about 2-3 weeks.

You’ll need to go back to the salon to remove your gel manicure.

I hope this was helpful to all of you who are considering getting acrylics or a gel manicure.

How To Smell Fabulous All Day! :D

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 8th September 2013

Hello people! Today I will be sharing with you my tips on proper hygiene and how you can smell good all the time! There have been so many instances when we have been around people who don’t smell pleasant and we just want to hold our breath or move far away! It is not a very attractive trait to have, is it? So, I will help you be someone people always want to be around!

1. Shower!

As basic as it sounds, it is the first and the most important step to smelling good. Showering removes dirt, sweat, dead skin, impurities and body odor. If you’re someone who sweats heavily, you may need 2-3 showers a day. Bar soaps are usually very drying on the skin so it is advisable to use a body wash. You can use something that smells delicious as it will make the bathroom experience relaxing and won’t make showering seem like a chore.

Image Image

These ones are by The Body Shop. You can find more affordable alternatives like Lux, Dove, Nivea, Fiama Di Wills etc. Lux makes an amazing Fine Fragrance Elixirs range and Dove makes really moisturizing washes that are great if your skin is dry.

If you have to use a bar soap, I suggest this one by Nivea.

It is good to shower once in the morning and once at night. Bathing at night will make you feel clean and fresh and it will also help you sleep better.

2. Wash Your Hair!

Washing your hair every other day will keep your hair smelling good all the time and also make them look better and not greasy. If you get greasy hair on the second day then you can use dry shampoo or baby powder sparingly to keep your hair looking fresh and smelling clean.

Just take some powder in your hands and rubs them together. Massage it into the roots and comb properly to distribute the product. Remember to start with a tiny amount and build up if you need more.

3. Exfoliate!

Exfoliating will remove dead skin cells, improve blood circulation and promote healthy skin renewal. It will make your skin feel smoother and get rid of any body odor. There are many body scrubs available in the market.

Image Image

You can find many scrubs to suit your preference or make your own at home. Read HERE to see how!

However, over scrubbing will bruise the skin or make it red! There is no need to scrub more than twice a week. For gentle daily scrubbing, you can use bath tools like these.

Remember, it is imperative to scrub your armpits too. They are usually neglected by most people while bathing. Clean underarms will minimize body odor by a huge extent and also prevent darkening of the skin.

4. Hair removal!

Sweat does not stink! Sweat only stinks when it is mixed with bacteria and dirt. This is the reason it is important to stay clean.

Hair will trap bacteria and help it thrive. Hair will also keep the area wet which contributes to bacterial environment. It is important to remain clean and dry. So, removing hair will also be beneficial. It is important to exfoliate before any method of hair removal to get a close shave/wax.

5. Moisturize!

After deep cleansing or hair removal, you want to lock in the hydration so that your skin remains soft and smooth. Skin, when moist, reacts very well to moisturization and roughly within 3 minutes of a shower is the best time to moisturize.

There is a plethora of amazing moisturizers available in the market which suit every need.

There are moisturizers available for less intense hydration and also ones for deep moisture.

If you are someone who does not like using heavily scented lotions, moisturizers or butters or you have sensitive skin, you can just use baby oil, olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil.

6. Deodorize!

This is also one of the most crucial steps in smelling wonderful. Antiperspirants contain Aluminium salts like Aluminium Chloro hydrate and Titanium Dioxide that help control sweat production. We should remember that stopping sweat is not natural and harms the body in the long run. Aluminium salts are also linked to Alzheimer and Cancer. So, never sleep with your antiperspirant on and always wash your armpits before sleeping. Use antiperspirant on days when you’re going out and about and skip when you’re just at home. You can use a light deodorant at home. Avoid ones that contain Alcohol as they will darken the underarm skin over time.

Some of my favorites are :

The Nivea Pearl and Beauty range is my personal favorite. It smells like how pearls would smell if they had a smell! They keep me feeling dry and fresh all the time.

If you’re someone who is sensitive to aerosols and does not want to breathe in harmful chemicals then there are other options available for you like roll-ons and solid deodorants.

The right one is a natural deodorant without Aluminium salts.

During a long day, if you feel like your deodorant has stopped working, use wet wipes to wipe it all off and wait for your skin to dry. Then reapply your deodorant.

7. Perfume!

Using your perfume over a moisturizer will actually enhance its staying power. Perfume vanishes from dry skin faster. You should apply your perfume on the pulse points which are :

-Inner Wrists

-Behind Ears

-Back of the Neck

-Back of the Knees

-Inner Elbow

-Behind Ankles

Here are some fresh and light fragrances :

To make your perfume last even longer, layer your fragrance. Use a body wash, moisturizer and perfume in the same scent and this will ensure it stays on. Also, carry a small bottle of your perfume along with yourself for regular touch ups during the day. But, remember to not drown yourself in perfume! Many people around you may have sensitive noses!

8. Clothes!

ALWAYS wear fresh and clean clothes. Do not repeat clothes until they are washed and dried or dry cleaned. You can also use a scented detergent to help make your clothes smell amazing.

Keep scented soaps wrapped in plastic inside your cupboard and this will help spread the smell of the soap onto the clothes.

If you sweat a lot and your clothes begin to smell then you can always carry an extra shirt to be extra cautious.

9. Fresh Breath!

It is not just about making your body smell great but also your breath. Brush your teeth twice a day and brush your tongue. Many of us aren’t aware of the fact that bad breath originates from the tongue. So, it is important to brush your tongue too. Bad breath is a huge turn off for many people. Rinse your mouth with an alcohol free mouthwash after brushing your teeth and carry breath mints. Also carry a small bottle of mouthwash so you can rinse after eating something strong like garlic or onions and still smell fresh.

10. Take Care Of Your Limbs!

Put some talcum powder inside your footwear to keep your feet smelling fresh and use hand cream to keep your hands soft and smelling great!

I know it seems like a lot of steps but once you learn to incorporate them into your daily routine it is actually not a lot of work. Plus smelling great is always a tick box for most people and is always an attractive quality to have.

I hope you found this helpful!

Amazing Inexpensive Products! <3

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 6th September 2013

Hello everyone, today I will be talking about my favorite drugstore products that are inexpensive and perform just as well and even better than high end products. These products are readily available and easy on the pocket! Now who doesn’t love that?

You might want to sit down comfortably with a coffee because this is going to be a long post since I have a lot to share! 🙂

1. Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse

This is my favorite foundation for sheer coverage and it looks really natural. Plus it costs only Rs. 599/-

2. Chambor Sheer Delight Ultra Matte Foundation

This is also one of my favorites. It looks very natural and this shade matches me exactly! It costs Rs. 799/-

I really only use sheer foundations since I do not have problematic skin. It is  just really oily. So, I don’t like to cover it up with full coverage foundation. When I do ever want to use full coverage foundation, it is pretty much always Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin.

3. Maybelline Clear Glow Compact

This compact has some amount of coverage and it instantly brightens up the skin. At only Rs. 175/-, this product is a steal. It does not have that powder matte effect and it looks natural on the skin.

4. Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick

This is a very easy product to use. Just swipe it on your face and blend. It blends beautifully, looks natural and provides sheer coverage. Very oily people can use this in the winters but in summers it makes the face shiny. However, this is great for normal skinned people and even dry skin over moisturizer. Available only in two shades though, for Rs. 250/-

4. Lakme Absolute Moonlit Highlighter

I love the bronzer side of this! It gives that beautiful sun kissed look and its great for warming up the whole face slightly with a natural looking glow. The highlighter however has some chunky glitter that I am not too fond of on my cheeks. If you can move past that, the base is pinkish and makes the skin look beautiful and healthy. It looks ethereal in the inner corners of the eyes and both the shades can be used as eye shadow. Retails for Rs. 600/-

There are blushes in the Lakme Absolute range too that are really good!

1. Garnier Anti Dark Circle Eye Roll-On

I don’t like to use heavy duty concealers everyday. This shade is perfect for my under eye area and brightens them up. But, it only gives sheer to medium coverage. If you have really stubborn dark circles, I would recommend the Colorbar Pot Concealer which is worth Rs. 500/- and comes in multiple shades with pink and yellow undertones.

This however, comes in only two shades. “Light” and “Dark”. The light shade luckily is perfect to liven up my face. It retails for Rs. 199/-

2. Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil

This is a beautiful eye pencil that glides on smoothly and doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area. It comes in multiples shades like blue, green, purple, brown, black, grey etc and I own 3-4 shades. Price Rs. 249/- to 349/-. The only drawback is that you have to sharpen it!

3. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

This glides on smoothly too and doesn’t tug on the waterline. It doesn’t need more than 3 swipes in the waterline to show full pigmentation and its very black! All this for only Rs. 200/- 😀

4. Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadows

These are extremely long wearing, waterproof cream eye shadows that are really easy to apply. Just swipe them all over the lid with your fingers and you’re done! They’re great for a quick look and stay put all day, even in the water. They come in a variety of shades and are sold for Rs. 350/- each.

5. Maybelline The Falsies and The Colossal Mascaras

These two are my favorite mascaras and I have never found any other mascara  that works as well as they do! I like to use them together. Falsies for length and Colossal for volume. They give me voluminous lashes that actually look like I am wearing falsies! LOVE! ❤

Falsies – Rs. 425/-

Colossal – Rs. 330/-

I prefer the waterproof versions because they hold a curl better. But, they are a pain to remove! I am willing to bear the hassle of removing them if they make my lashes look amazing! 😛

6. Elle 18 Eye Sparklers Shadow Sticks

These are intensely pigmented shadow sticks that are smooth and easy to work with. They can be used as a base for your shadows or on their own and they come in 5 shades. They don’t last as well as the color tattoos but for Rs. 85/- a pop, you cannot really go wrong!

7. Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow Quads

This is my favorite quad. I like neutral shadows and this makes everything so easy. You can achieve a light natural look and also a smokey look with this quad. They are intensely pigmented and easy to blend. The first shade is a beautiful highlight shade and the third shade is a beautiful rose gold! 🙂

They come in quads of different colors too. Available for Rs. 450/-

8. Inglot Eye Shaodows

They are very pigmented, stay on all day, easy to blend and come in a plethora of shades! A pan costs Rs. 300/- for one eye shadow and a pot will cost around Rs. 450/-

9. Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

This works just as well as the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and is a hell of a lot cheaper! Intensely black, can be used as a liner or as a dark base all over the lid. It is waterproof and will not budge throughout the day! Price Rs. 500/-

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

They are my go to lip products! In fact I have used them so much that the lettering has come off and they have lost their pointy shape!

They stain the lips, stay all day and are comfortable to wear. The darker shades are more staining than the lighter ones. The glossiness will wear off in a while but the stain stays. I keep applying my regular lip balm throughout the day if I feel the need for moisture!

They retail for Rs. 600/- each.

2. Colorbar Lipsticks

1. Colorbar Soft Touch Lipstick in “C 40 Citrine”. This is a great wearable reddish orange.

2. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “60 OR Obsessed Orange”.  This is a straight up neon orange.

3. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “63 P Shy Cherry”. This is a berry toned deep pink.

4. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “61P Thrilling Pink”. This is a mauvy nudey pink.

The Soft Touch lipsticks from Colorbar are really easy to wear and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 325/-

The Velvet Matte lipsticks are slightly drying but still comfortable to wear. They work well over a lip balm too and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 250/-

All these come in multiple shades! There is a shade for everyone! 🙂

3. Maybelline Lipsticks

1. Maybelline Superstay Lipstick in “Non Stop Red”. This is very beautiful pinkish red. – Rs. 525/-

2. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “BR41 Windsor Rose”. This is a wearable sheer red. – Rs. 250/-

3. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “CB41 Coral Pink”. This is a true coral pink shade. – Rs. 250/-

4. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in “840 Coral Lustre”. This is an orange with shimmer. – Rs. 399/-

All of these lipsticks are great and all of them have a separate formula.

-The Superstay lipsticks are extremely long wearing but slightly drying.

-The Moisture Extreme range is almost as moisturizing as a lip balm and yet the lipsticks are beautifully pigmented. They are the most comfortable to wear but do not wear for a long time.

-The regular Colorsensational range has a watery shine and semi matte texture and they are also comfortable to wear.

4. Elle 18 Lipsticks

1. Elle 18 Lipstick in “42 Coral Romance”. This is a beautiful nude coral.

2. Elle 18 Lipstick in “27 Rosy Blush”. This is bright red orange.

They have a balm in the center and wear for about 2-3 hours. Available in several shades and at Rs. 100/- each, you cannot really complain!

1. Lakme Nail Polishes

The absolute range dries really fast and makes life quick and easy. But it may chip off on the 2nd day. Still worth it due to the crazy dry time! – Rs. 199/-

The Color Crush Range will dry in a few minutes but it will stay on longer. – Rs. 150/-

2. Revlon and L’Oreal Nail Polishes

Revlon Top Speed nail polishes dry really quickly too and this silver shade is fully pigmented in just one swipe! Rs. – 210/-

L’Oreal nail polishes dry in normal time but these glitter ones dry quickly, I love them, the packaging reminds me of YSL and they are also available in plenty of shades! – Rs. 235/-

1. Matrix Biolage Deep Smoothing Serum

Works just as well as a high end serum. smells great, reduces frizz, makes combing easier and makes the hair shinier.

Rs. 255/- for 100ml

2. Dove Elixir

I love the packaging! It smells delightful and does good things to the hair like, add shine, reduce frizz and cure dryness in 30 minutes! It can also be used sparingly as a serum. Retails only for Rs. 185/-

So that is it for my drugstore gems!

Product Empties! :-D

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 6th September 2013

Hello everyone, today I’m going to share with you the products I have used up and also love and use religiously!

1. Sunsilk Keratinology Heat Protector Spray

This product protects my hair from heat damage and adds shine. It smells good too!

There aren’t many heat protectors available in the market in India otherwise I’d try some other brand too. Till then, I have a back up of this that I am currently using.

2. L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Hair Serum

I love this serum! It smells amazing. It makes my hair smooth and manageable. I have tried so many serums but none of them have impressed me as much as this one did. I will definitely repurchase!

3. The Body Shop Strawberry Body Puree

I LOVE The Body Shop! I have the entire Strawberry Range. Read Review HERE.

This is one of my favorite lotions for summers. It feels water based and absorbs quickly into the skin and provides enough moisturization in the hot weather. I like to use the Strawberry Body Butter in winters.

4. Johnson’s Baby Powder

Nothing much to say about this! I like to use it as a dry shampoo and it performs fairly well. I am presently using the “Blossoms” version of this.

5. Nivea Pearl and Beauty Deodorant

This is my deodorant of choice. It smells like how pearls would smell if they had any smell! This is probably my 9th or 10th can. I already have a backup that I am using. It keeps me dry on hot days too and even if I do sweat I don’t stink. This is limited edition packaging.

6. The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser

I use this as a primer. It says it primes and mattifies. I already have a backup that I am using. I haven’t really seen a difference in my pore size but then I do not have extremely large pores. It feels cooling and keep me matte for longer than if I wasn’t wearing it.

7. Maybelline Clear Glow Compact

Okay so this isn’t exactly empty but it shattered. I will still use it because it is one of the best drugstore compacts you can find that is so inexpensive! Its not extremely mattyfing like powder matte but it looks natural like you have a natural glow. I am already using a backup.

8. Lacto Calamine Lotion Oil Control

This is the moisturizer that I use at night everyday. I have been using it for 4-5 years. It is not great at controlling oil but it is amazing at fading marks and preventing pimples. That is why I use it at night. I use the L’Oreal Anti Shine Icy Gel during the day, which is empty too by the way but I threw away the tub and forgot about featuring it in this post! 😦

9. L’Occitane Cerisier Princesse Solid Perfume

This is my favorite scent of all time! You have to go to a L’Occitane store and smell it! It is very feminine and girly! A perfect mixture of floral-fruity. The solid perfume doesn’t stay for a long time but I love the scent so much that I am thinking of getting the Eau De Toilette of this!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my empties and little reviews!

Frizzy Hair Remedies!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 5th September 2013

Hello everyone! I am sorry I have been gone for a few days. I was busy with the Premia India Runway Week. It was amazing and a post on that will be coming soon 🙂

Our hair is our crowning glory yet it suffers so much! Monsoons, sun damage, heat styling, overload of products etc! With the humidity, my hair usually poofs up like Monica’s in Friends!

Frizzy hair is caused when the moisture and natural oils in hair is removed. This leaves hair strands coarse and dry making it easier for hair to look frizzy. Many things can cause frizzy hair. You can genetically be born with coarse hair, which lacks protein. Although, it is more likely that it is something you are doing to your hair that is causing it to be frizzy.

So, I will tell you about a few products I use and also give you a few tips on how you can make your hair more manageable..

Start with a good Shampoo/Conditioner routine. For frizzy hair, you’ll want Shampoos and Conditioners that say “Smoothing”, “Moisturizing” etc. Stay away from Anti-Dandruff shampoos and the ones that say “Deep Cleaning”. They will dry out your hair further!

I use the L’Oreal Professional Liss Ultime Range

I do really like the L’Oreal professional range. They have a solution to most hair problems but this one in particular is my favorite. This is an Oil Incell technology that makes my hair extremely smooth. Just after using the shampoo, my hair feels instantly softer. The shampoo and the serum smell like a dream but the masque is a little different!

If your hair is unmanageable and frizzy, I do recommend this range, even if your hair is not chemically treated.

2. Oiling :

It is extremely important to oil your hair. Oiling and massaging your hair will restore lost moisture and improve blood circulation to your head. Many types of oils are available in the market.

3. Serums :

Serums are a quick and easy way to smooth out your hair and add shine. They will make combing out your hair easier and decrease knots and breakage.

You can also use dry oils as serums. But, remember to use a tiny amount so that your hair doesn’t look like an oily mess! And also use serums on the ends and not near the root.

4. Heat Protection :

You should always use a heat protection product in your hair. Even if you’re not heat styling because it helps reduce sun damage. It creates a layer around your hair that does not let the heat penetrate deep into the hair and make it dry and dull. It will also protect your hair against environmental damage.

5. Deep Conditioning :

It is important to deep condition your hair after a week of torment. Your hair needs Protein and Keratin to recover. Deep conditioners / Hair masks will provide that intense hydration.

It is not advisable to use them every time you wash your hair as too much Protein and Keratin can break your hair. So don’t overdo it, once a week is enough.

6. Topical Treatments :

You can also use topical treatments to help hair growth and repair damage. There are many forms available in the market like creams, shots etc.

7. Don’t wash your hair everyday. If you have really short hair, then it is alright. With long hair, it takes more time for the natural oils to travel from the root to rest of the hair. Your hair needs the natural oil to maintain balance and health. If your hair gets really greasy then you can use dry shampoo on it or a tiny dab of baby powder does the same trick. Just rub a tiny amount in your hands and massage through the roots. This will take care of any greasiness, that unwashed hair smell and also instantly add more volume. Make sure you comb afterwards to avoid any white residue from peeking through your roots.

8. Don’t overload products in your hair because they will lead to product build up making it necessary to wash your hair more often.

9. Avoid heat styling everyday. Let your hair air dry naturally. If you have to blow dry at all costs, wait till your hair is about 60%-70% dry and then use your blow dryer on low heat. Remember to use a heat protectant.

10. Embrace your natural texture. Each and every one of you is beautiful in your way. We should be happy with what we have. Curling, straightening, blow drying is leading to irreparable damage.

11. Go for regular trims. Split ends are irreversible and just have to be chopped off. I know its hard but you need to get rid of them to keep your hair looking healthy.

12. Never brush your hair when it is wet. Your hair is the weakest when it is wet and brushing it will decrease elasticity and break the hair. Instead, use a serum and a wide tooth comb. It is advisable to wait till your hair is a little dry before you start fiddling with it anyway. To avoid knots you can finger comb your hair when using conditioner or use a wide tooth comb with conditioner in the shower. To avoid knots in the morning when you wake up, you can sleep with braids so you don’t wake up to a tangled mess.

13. Sleep on a silk pillowcase. It will make your hair softer, reduce frizz and friction and make your hair more manageable.

14. Taking vitamins will help in hair growth and overall health of the hair. Make sure to check with doctor before popping any pills though.

15. Wear a hat or a scarf over your head when going out in the sun to prevent sun damage.

16. What you put inside is going to show on the outside. Eating a diet rich in Protein, Iron, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Vitamins will make your hair much better overall. Soy, Eggs, Cauliflower, Almonds, Dals, Salmon, Walnuts, Oysters, Sweet Potatoes, Lentils, Spinach, Yogurt, Berries, Mangoes, Cucumbers, Apricots, Beans, Oats, Cashews, Chicken, Beef, Carrots, Milk and Broccoli are all great hair foods.

After all that our hair goes through, we should learn to take regular care of it.. Our hair frames our face and it is important to make it look its best and healthiest.
